  • Thanks for giving your valuable feedback. I've done all my free and paid services with service center but out of frustration and because of worse service quality i service my Fi bike with local mechanic(earlier he used to work with Bajaj service center) but that was only once i service my bike with him...

    Now i have two questions

    1. How is Borivali's (Mumbai) Sai Service Center? If it is good then any good mechanic who can done proper servicing of Fi bikes.
    2. Will there be any harm to the engine in the long run because of K&N which i have installed after directly cutting the air filter box.

    thanks

Sai Servicing is now doing services for the Fi machines. Yet, the Probiking service centers tend to remain different. I personally don't have any idea about Mumbai, hence wont comment but still there is no harm in trying.

Yes! I have heard people saying engine gets damaged, but slowly. Would advice you to stick to stock with an Fi machine. Any mods on an Fi machine can cost you dearly in the long run. Just personal opinion.

      thanks

      • Block Piston change

        Hi all,

I recently went in for a decarb of my engine at 43k kms.During this process, the service guy found that the block piston is damaged and said that it needs to be changed.I just wanted to know how often this happens with other fi's ?

The other thing is that wouldn't I have felt a serious drop in performance if such a thing had happened? Because I didnt think the bike was running badly at all.The only thing was that the engine oil(Motul 300V) level used to drop quite a bit(for eg. around 400-500ml in 4500kms)

        Any views are appreciated.

          • Hello guys....I promised to post my top speed after changing the fuel filter which was clogged with dirt.....sorry to say that I didnt have the time to check due to increase in work load ....but today i went to office around 7am in morning and the roads were empty decided to give my bike some beans .....for a short stretch of road i was doing 112 km/hr and bike was still accelerating like mad ......i hope my bike would now easily do 135 km/hr perhaps even more......but my FE dropped from 40-45 kmpl to 35-40 kmpl but who cares

If engine oil is dropping usually starts with worn piston rings, it over culminates into a block-piston issue. One must get the engine examined at the first instance of engine oil drinking being reported.

And interval for this is different across different bikes, for me it was first reported at 31K. But that was due to a improper Decarb being done.

There is no difference between Fi and Dtsi now, both have the same graphite coated block pistons!r

Still need to see the long term usage reports of the big bore kits to see how reliable they are!!

                • Hello people, posting in after ages.

Had my bike serviced today. Done 6k in 3 years. *Very less I know.

The thing is, my rear Tyre is all ****ed up, I loose pressure almost as soon as I get it pumped up, this being to the 20+ odd punctures I've had over the past 3 years. *The rear Tyre always has a puncture, I've no idea why.

The PBK guys were ready to change the rear tyre on the spot, the advised *read almost forced me to get it done. Now my question is, should I stick with the same 120/80 ones that come as stock, or go for some other brand/product.

Though I have no problem as such with the rear grip, but a lil more never hurts. Suggestions requested.

I read it somewhere, the Yamahas have better gripping tyres (FZ 16 & R15), should I go for either of them, or some other ones.

                  • Hi,
                    i have a 2008 220 DTS-Fi, its clocked 25100 kms.
When is it advisable to change the front tyres?
I still run Stock MRF at the front. The rear was recently changed to MRF zapper vyde.

Also my bike's engine feels very harsh even the though the Engine oil was changed about 1000 kms back.
I am not experiencing any drop is performance.
And finally my bike's mileage is 30-33kpl in city commute, is this normal?

                    Any views would be appreciated.

It depends how much you use the front brakes... changed my front tire at 26k KMS. Check the condition of the tire if its worn out replace it. Front tire grip is very vital for braking and handling.30-33KMPL is a good average considering Chennai traffic and petrol quality.

can you tell me anything about changing my engine oil to fully synthetic, i've heard this reduces harshness.
                        Is that true?
                        what grade should i use?

                        • I finally got the front brake checked out and the explanation given to me was that the fork oil (front) was leaking and it went into the disc which caused the front brake to become less effective. The brake effectiveness does seem to be better but not as good as a couple of months back.

Total with labor charges, Rs 5,474. Lot of money spent. The clutch case house has been repaired. Will have to get it changed next time. The timing chain has been adjusted but need to be replaced soon.

Chain set changed for the 3rd time

Clutch plates changed for 2nd or 1st perhaps.

Front disc changed 2nd time (1st time, it got bent due to a minor accident. That was the only damage which happened at that time).

Feed back: Bike is pulling much smoother. Very refined. Front braking has improved a lot.

Guys, just an advice on the timing chain. get it changed if you face any problem & if the SC guy tells you it has lasted it's life because the damage it does to the other internal part is horrible. They showed me one example.

                            Cheers
