  • yes, running the bikes under reserve level surely create problems. misfiring was one of them and after some time, stalling between rides occurs.

    • @Monty: speedo cable wouldn't be costly, but the way it's fixed with the wheel, needs care to adjust. Bajaj dealers keep the latest parts-manual at their service center, in a place where customers can access...you can check the price of speedo cable in it. Sorry, don't know the price myself.

        @abhiiceman:
        umm... fuel filter?

Is it the problem of clutch plates by any chance?
in p220 fi fuel filter will get chocked due to impurities in petrol..so changing it help your bike roar like before,it'll cost below 50rs..

        • @abhiice: P220 Fi, doesn't come with the usual fuel filter...so there's no question of changing it. But, petrol with impurities for sure, clogs the injector...or, for that matter, rain-water getting mixed up with petrol due to some weird possible way.
@Utsav: P220 gears 1 & 2 are not so tall, so suggesting you to leave these two to play within 5K rpm, hitting 10K (where limiter hits) in gear 1/2, can damage the clutch plate, if done frequently.

my friends 220fi used to get its fuel filter chocked when he filled with shell petrol
problem's were rpm wouldnt cross 4k some time 6k..and top speed would'nt cross 116kmph..whenever he had this problem he used to change the fuel filter then the bike would redline easily...

The fuel filter of P220 needs to be changed at every 5k kms...

              • @Ivin: I believe you are talking about 220 DTS-i model, not the Fi. Fi, surprisingly doesn't have any usual oil filter.

                  • Hello all nice to be a part of xbhp forum......I own a second hand 2007 pulsar 220 dts-fi which I purchased it last year.....I wanted to ask is it advisable to use Shell Helix 20W50 oil for my bike........also I wanted to know good bajaj service station in Pune preferably Pimpri Chinchwad area......I dont have any problems with my bike it gives me around 40-45 kmpl and awesome torque.... but i am slightly worried as my bike will not go past 7000 rpm in top gear and so i have reached top speed of only 110 km/hr ..........any possible reason for that ??

                    • Hello sparks..welcome..
Firstly and most importantly dont go to any bajaj svc in pune except SaiService kothrud Probiking. Possibilities are that other svc might ruin an Fi machine.

my bike too doesnt cross 105 easily. tested today on a roller machine at the svc (idk wat the name of that machine is) it went upto 120.5kmph as displayed on the machine. The svc guy told that120.5kmph is enough for 220fi.

                      • Hi guys, my bike's front brake has almost stopped working.
I want to try another probiking service center (currently going to the one in Tadbund near Begumpet, Hyderabad).

I am unable to find any information on the Bajaj site for locating another probiking service center, could someone from Hyderabad please suggest another one.

                        • @sparks: if you are getting a mileage of 40-45 KMPL in 2007 model, that means that your FI is tuned for lean mixture. In the power range (6K-9K rpm), the bike needs more fuel in ratio, to burn in which is restricted in yours. You can ask PBK mech to tune the FI. It might solve your top speed issue. Also, if the chain&sprocket is in good condition, Tyres are properly inflated, you can target 135+ KMPH speed in your bike.

Bleed the lines, change the brake pads, feel the disc surface, it should be flat (not concave) If it is concave, you need to change the disc too.

Any NON PBK SVC is also capable enough to do this work efficiently. Get it rectified ASAP, it is not safe to run the bike without the front brake working properly.

                            • ^ Thanks.
I went to a non PBK Bajaj service center but they refused to touch the bike.

The only PBK service center I know is the one mentioned in my post. If I do not call them 1 week in advance to book a slot they will not fix the problem (or they will ask me leave the bike there for a couple of days). Their land line is not working anyway.

Why wouldnt they take the job ? recently Bajaj had released a statement saying that all bajaj models can now be serviced at non-pbk centers also, heck i bought my bike from a local dealer and had them service it all throughout the free service and then changed to another place that too was not a pbk,
but dont push too much, if they are not competent enough for the job then better not to do it form them,
Get it done from a local mech that you can trust.

                                Cheers mate
