        • Hi,

just wanted to ask if the contrast(darkness) of the speedometer varies if you view it from the sides(eg. from the left side the number readout is lightish and when viewed from the right dark)

Also,my headlight(low beam) doesn't seem to be as powerful as before,I changed the bulb, but there's not been much of an improvement.

This might be difficult to understand, but I have noticed that when the headlight is viewed at a certain angle, the light is then it is sharp and bright(with the typicial colored flare of the lens).

Is it possible for the projector lens to have moved/shifted due to a bump and changed focus, and hence the light isnt spreading properly ?

Also, what are the signs of the dirty throttle body and a faulty fuel pump or injector?

Sorry for the loads of questions, its been a long time since I've logged on.

          Thanks in advance

Difficult to quantify what you ask for. If you PBK as a lux meter, they can check the amount of lumens from your headlight Vs. a new bike.

Also look at your projector to see if there is any dust formation on the inside.

You will know if the focus of the headlight has changed, again compare this with another 220 to understand how different is your light.

You will have to open your throttle body and see if the butterfly is "sticky".

If your fuel pump is faulty your bike will not get enough fuel as a result of which it will start wheezing and it will shut down.

I was relocating from Pune. So considering that, the amount of luggage I carried was less

                    • Hey guy i am the newest proud owner of this killer powerful beast!

I had some issues regarding the beast and needed some guidance on it

                      QUERY 1
On my new bike i am finding hard to find neutral, also while shifting from 2nd to 1st, most of the times it goes to neutral, and then i have to press hard to make it move to 1st instead of neutral - Is it cos its a new bike? or should i do something to solve the problem??

                      Query 2
i am finding the rear view mirrors to be small
so changing them to apache rtr Rear mirrors or 180 pulsars' mirrors - will it be helpful or ill have to live with it ??

any light on the above problems will be considered as gold

                        • Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi

                          Hello All,

I just bought a used P220 Fi with 40k kms on the Odo. The gears are smooth and never had any false neutral thing. The main problem I had noticed that the top speed was too low. To be more sure, I checked it on highways and found that it was 107kmph without crouching and 110 when crouching. I am getting an average of 25-30kmpl

Two days back I gave my bike on a servicing to Shiv Automobiles, Dhanori to do a oil change and a filter change as the old one was quite bad and to change both the plugs as they got little rusty. After servicing I filled up 10litres of petrol from my regular pump. While returning to home the bike was acting strange. It was like when petrol finishes in a carb. bike. I thought it might be some dust got stuck in injector, bent the bike a little down and it got fixed for some 100metres and then again the same thing happened. I took it to the nearest SVC, same place where I gave it for general servicing. They were very much puzzled with the problem and went on checking. From 11:30 in the morning till 9:30 in the evening they could not find the problem. Constantly kept telling me there might be an issue with electricals. And yes, their legendary head mechanic constantly was trying to locate the 'Carburetor' in the 'Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi' since Day 1. I got sick and tired of trying to make him understand that carbs dint exist in Fuel injected machines. Also as they kept on telling me that power is not coming to the ignition motor, I could not help but wonder, if power is really not coming to ignition motor then how the ignition motor's sound is coming? Later, a Antz told me to take the bike out of that SVC somehow and put it in probiking or Sai service. So placed it today at Sai Service, Kothrud.

Also, I noticed that in the block piston there is a black round thing. Little oil is kind of seeping from its sides. Could notice that only after the washing was done.

                          Questions:

Some one please tell me what exactly is the problem? I feel it is some dirt in the injector supply chamber
Secondly, the top speed issue. P220 FI isn't that bad at top speed.
Thirdly, Piston rings. How can I change them? Not exactly my query but I heard at 32k kms, P220 Fi's piston rings get changed.
Fourthly, Can someone tell me where can I find all the prices of the parts?

                          ~ Thanks

                              1. Looks like you have a fuel pump issue, you would need to go to Bajaj Probiking Service centre to diagnose this. The 'normal' service centers don't know about fuel pumps etc!

                              2. P220 Fi Stock - Should hit a easy 130+ Topspeed fully crouched. On a good day it would even do 138-140!

                              3. Piston rings only need to be changed if you observe the bike drinking oil. There is no specific necessity that it needs to be changed at 30K kms or any other specific kms.

                              4. Head to Bajaj PBK Service Center

                                Thank you guruji

Details that he forgot to mention but told me on the phone.

                                1. The bike was transported to PBK yesterday (Sai service, kothrud is Probiking )

                                2. Also, is it possible that he got the wrong spark plugs from 'Normal' SVC and thats the reason this happened immediately after the service.

                                3. The black stuff around the head region should be an oil leak which will require an oil seal change(which, as per schedule, should be done every 10k km which very few of us follow).

                                4. The Service engineer @ PBK says the bike will take at least 7-8 days to fix before there could be any proper diagnosis.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.
