BTW why did you get a new bore at 19K

Did you put something other than petrol in the tank?

Mate, I have a query, before my stock clutch plate change my bike did 65kmph at exactly 4k rpm in 5th gear, when the clutch plates were dead it was about 60kmph.
But now even after the change its about 60kmph now at 4k in 5th gear, only the clutch plates were changed, the friction and pressure plates are the same as stock.
Any pointers as to why it is like this ?

    Cheers

What's the state of the tyres?

A worn out rear tyre can affect the gearing of the bike and and worn out front tyre can cause a difference in readings. Also a change in tyres from stock profile will also affect the readings

Then no idea, try getting the clutch opened and checked if the plates have been installed properly.

its my friends bike not mine, btw my 220 is the speedline's ver ...actually he had installed k&n @ 10k kms and @ 18.XXkms his low engine oil icon started blinking he rode the bike as it was for almost a month and it used to produce some sort of high frequency metal hitting sound which used to increase with the rpm ,but that idiot couldnt hear that as he rides with IEM's then finally the seal broke down and oil used to fall on exhaust and burn only then he took for service ...but i want to know the speed @4rpm 5th grear

Sorry dude its been more than 3 years that I've been running on altered gearing so I don't remember the 4K RPM figure, it might be there in one of the first few pages of this thread. As of now I only remember 6K RPM in 5th gear which is 83Kmph. For the black back speedos. IIRC, the white back speedos showed higher speeds since they had more error margins.

EDIT: Stupid me my altered gearing means that my bike is running at +3 Kmph over stock at any rpm. Will check out the speed at 4K rpm and post up in the evening.

                Are you sure its 6K @ 83?
                It should be 5k, right?

                Karizma and P220 have similar gear ratios. Karizma does 80 @ 5k and 96 @ 6k.

I don't think the P220 and ZMA are running similar final and primary gear ratios!

And maybe you are talking about the P220 Dtsi which runs different gearing compared to the Fi. (Because its taller geared compared to the Fi and does higher speeds at the same RPM's compared to the Fi)

But the Fi with stock tyres and properly running plates definitely does 83 Kmph @ 6K RPM in 5th gear.

Ah, I didn't know that FI and DTSI had different ratios. Yes, I was referring to a DTSI assuming it had the same ratios.

                    • Weird issue with my bike last two weeks.

Anything below 4K RPM bike feels as though something is pulling it back, basically looks like the fueling below 4K rpm is a bit erratic.

So I changed the fuel filter and got CO tuning done as well, but the problem still persists. In fact now its worse after getting it tuned, earlier was running rich so somehow I think this issue was subdued.

Air filter and plugs are also new, fuel quality is not a suspect since I've filled from two of my trusted bunks and issue persists.

Doubt if its a pump issue coz then the issue should be there even beyond 4K RPM. [Edit: Gut feeling says its the 3K Gandhi's expensive fuel pump ]

                      Any pointers ?

The final drive ratio is different, and so is the 5th gear (which is partly responsible for the massively higher topspeed of the Dtsi over the Fi)

I hope its not the fuel pump! Its bloody expensive and is usually never in stock...

                            • Had a quick chat with the Asif, Sr mechanic for KTM, Ninja & 220 Fi at Suman Bajaj explaining your problem & the solution as of now, employed by you. He says most probably of the Fuel pump. I remember I had to get it changed too once because of the exact same issue. Errcatic throttle response in lower RPM.

Yes fuel pump is what my PBK chaps are also saying, will try with another 220 Fi's pump to iron out if its the pump.

I have had this issue earlier as well, but it was always either a tuning issue or a one of the filters were choked.

I don't think its an issue which can happen due to low fuel coz I remember running dry with low fuel almost 1.5 years back. Doubt if that has caused the issue now.

At 93K Kms now, I don't know what should be the ideal life of the fuel pump. Seems like its fair enough to go now. I guess the bike should be good to go for another 80-90K kms now :P
