Chain lube , since budget is low, go for diamond or oks lube. Get diesel to clean the chain first. If you are ok with a bit messy/dirty rims, go for gear oil to lube the chain.
OKS and diamond comes at Rs120/- per bottle. Can last 3-4 useages.

Motul 5100 retails at about Rs500/- per litre. You will need 1.2l so get 2 bottles and the other bottle can be used for the next 4 oil changes.

I think the rear break pads (KBX one's ) have gone up, before it was 140ish now its 180 or something, i can't remember corectly. Can someone conform on this ?

            • Guys,
Sad to post here but I guess this is the end of road for my biking. Unfortunately the bike which ignited the passion for my biking seems to be the reason for the end of it too. Just can't take it anymore. After servicing the bike feels like a 150cc. The main problem is diagnosis. The bike is still good. It's still got the punch & can give others run for thier money. The sheer ignorance of the Servicing executives/mechanics is what taking it's toll. I am now fed up. Writing to Bajaj hasn't helped either because they have just chosen to ignore the legacy of Pulsar. Ironically P220 was what pushed them right at top in the Sports Bike segment category.

At this point in life, I can't just sell it off & buy another one. Simply because I am short of funds. I have bought a car for which there is EMI to be paid & run & maintenance to be incurred. The car company's attitude is far more serious & better than that of Bajaj.

It's the end of road for me as of now as all roads are blocked. Hope the spirit doesn't die out.

With regards to the P220 feeling like a 150 - you echo my thoughts. Hence last year i upgraded to the CBR 250. Ofcourse, the 220 is still with me and i do like to look at it once in a while .
What exactly is the problem with the bike. Most of my issues went away when i changed the wiring harness and then some more when i changed the fuel pump. Also, its not the "end of the road" or anything !! -- just pay off those EMIs/save some money and then look around for what the market has to offer.

I don't think he can sacrifice 2 weeks of leave. Best to send it across by train, and ride back once the work completely done.

                        • And Praful, would you take off from work, and concentrate fully on the bike? I mean, I've already heard horror stories from your side, and going "hunger strike" at the PBK until your bike gets done.

If that's the case, then I think I or any others don't have to worry for that matter. Guess we have back up!

                          Cheers!

Not needed, my mechanic can get the mechanicals of the bike in shape with in 2-3 days without followups!

For electrical/electronic issues will need to send the bike to PBK ... that might take time

We are making full on shahi biryani plans of getting the bike here, and over there Dipankar might come back and say he sold the bike

                              • 2 months with 220

After two months and covering 3k kms i am really happy with this bike .
Everyday it behaves differently making me go crazy sometimes butter smooth and at times too much gruff.
And i never ride it fast for atleast 2k kms it has been under 4k rpm but after 4k rpm it becomes gruff hope after switching to motul300v it vanishes.
Currently worried about spare parts supply .
And i find the suspension set up too hard and i get backache after 50km nonstop ride.
Mileage varies between 33 to 35(calculated approximately) and i am not happy about considering my riding style(twister returns 65kmpl in same condition)

                                QUERY
Has anyone overtook volvo B9r in highways?they bullied me too much in a two lane stretch(ECR) was unable to speed away because of safety concerns.
hope in four lane roads 220 can stay away from those bullies.

                                PROBLEMS BEING FACED
                                Petrochemical smell from exhaust.
while starting it smells like some poisonous gas substance.
Automatically shuts off after DUB DUB sound and immediately comes to life in the first crank(happens atleast thrice a week) and noticed that it happens only if i fill petrol from other fuel station other than SHELL.

                                Things changed after purchase is
                                Valvoline 20w50,fuel filter ,air filter.
Things that needs immediate attention are
                                Chain sprockets,low beam bulb,battery,front fork oil seal,and few rusted parts(nuts,bolts),spark plugs,cone set.
                                Planned to do things are
                                pump,injector service(any points about this)
valve tappet clearance check,Engine mounting silent blocks,Steering stem and wheel bearing.
And i hope everything comes under 5k budget except battery and waiting for the amount sanction from parents.

Overall this is a complete fun filled ride that gives me smile even at 60kph which was absent in my ZMA.
But this gives the same amount of body pain which was absent in zma.

                                ATTACHING SOME PICS
Did a 175km ride today chennai(TBM)-mamalapuram-kalpakam-mathuranthakam-chennai recorded some 50km in my phone
rx100.7050 bro had asked close pics of engine block (which has some rust) and sorry for the late reply.

P.S thanks to praful bro for replying to all of my childish queries.Click image for larger version
