  • [QUOTE=Sird;910781]On place of paying 100rs each time and getting it cleaned from SVC.
Better buy a Motul Chain Lube (500rs) + a WD40 (90rs) and this Motul can serve you easily for 15-16 lubes!
    Now count the calculation.!

The thing is that i didnt have the basic tool kit and i am yet to source it so went to a local mechanic and instructed him what to do .
Next time i will do it myself.

Went for some 100km ride and one strange thing happened the bike shuts off automatically. This the second time the incident had happened.
I overtook an truck around 60kmph and reduced the speed to 40 after overtaking and after reducing it the engine failed and was back into life after cranking and no problem after that.
Was this due to low speed and high gear or any other stuff?
will be taking it to PBK in February did i have to mention anything about it?
P.S clutch is so light i think the wire tightness has been changed.

Also experienced too much body pain after the non stop ride(Have to hit the gym soon)

Worm gear, Yuv Worm gear, usually lasts long, but I don't think the 220 has a worm gear speedo, as it is all sensor related. So if I guess something's wrong in the display, either the display is screwed up or the cable is kaput.

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

        • Guys, need some help for the rear suspension of my 5 yr old 220 Fi. Its become way too bad, that even small bumps hurt the back. Since I use the bike only for city commutes, I'm on the softest setting. A notch below makes it stiff, but does not help the back.
What are my options? change the suspension or any way to service it?

5 years old! How many kms. Ever changed it before. Time to change it then. AFAIK the suspension has to be charged with gas every 10k kms.
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

As Monk rightly said, you need to charge your NITROX charger after 10 to 20k KMS. But Praful was candid that he never touched his suspension at close to 50K KMS if my memory served me right. I guess it's time you charge the cansister.

You got three options, and one no-go option!

The no-go option is to salvage the current suspension, which is next to impossible since I've not yet come across a genuine place doing NoX recharging.

Option 1 - Get the 220 Fi suspension, soft like before and belly dances in corners
Option 2 - Get the 220 Dtsi supension, stiffer and better around corners, but not so much stiffer that you'd end up with a stiff back [My Recommendation]
Option 3 - Get the RTR suspension, I've not test this setup but have a 220 Fi old timer who swears by it

BTW, the NoX needs to recharged every 10-12K kms or sooner if you ride hard on bad roads frequently. The optimal operating life of the rear suspension is about 4-5 years with 50-60K kms of running, I know people don't change it that soon ever...But if you are not recharging it then the suspension is going to work like any other spring!

My 1.5 year old 24K run Dtsi suspension is showing signs of becoming softer than before!

                • I have also experienced the deterioration of the rear suspension similar to what Aditya and others are experiencing. I just made a query on Bajajauto.com email Customer care and added a link to this page of the ownership thread. Hope something good comes out of this.
Advice is a form of nostalgia.
Dispensing it is a way of fishing the past from the disposal, wiping it off, painting over the ugly parts and recycling it for more than it's worth.

Between 2008 and 2010 I have tried at the PBK's in the following cities :-

                    Chennai
                    Bangalore
                    Pune
                    Mumbai
                    Delhi
                    Hyderabad

None of them had the equipment to do NoX recharging!

Mate, would the RTR shocks go on the 220F model too ? If so are the shocks of the 160 and 180 all the same ? I think i'm also going to need a change, bike is nearing 60k, a lot of parts are neraing it's life end i guess. This is just one more to add to the list..!!

Like I said I've not really looking into the RTR shocks thing, just know someone who's been using em for a while.

AFAIK, 160 and 180 have the same shocks. And if it fits the Fi, I'm sure it would fit the Dts-i as well.

And Praful, I reckton from your posts, you have quite a few members who are really good in jugaad modification of the bike, but unfortunately they ain't in xBhp, only if they were, we could have gotten some real insight into obligating them indirectly for some juggad fixes and learning from them. Sigh!!

                            • Got my second service done from a local mech out side PBK after completing 3K kms from the earlier service.

Nothing but praises for the chap, bike running smooth on craptrol oil will replace it in 2K kms. Motel 300v is just too expensive these days mostly will switch back to 5100T or the like.

Only prob right now is the slightly lag I'm feeling due to a fueling issue below 4K RPM. Need to go to PBK to get tuned.

Any front tyre options? My PSD front has long worn out. Found a 90/90 Michelin Sporty for 2.5K but it was too much of a tarmac tyre. Might go for the R15 V2 front not sure... still looking for options...Any suggestions?

                              • just got 4th service done. replaced handle bar cone set. but mechanic somehow forgot to tighten the Allen bolts of handle bar. i noticed it after two days.. at third service he missed on to tight the centre hexagonal bolt... hmm so pathetic is to feel it when you pay them complete labor charges.. still i love my P220.. whatever whoever does anything does not make my me irritate about my bike..but sometime ASS sucks! big time.
