i test drove a 2008 model with 18k on the odo.
The bike didnt start with pressing the button i tried several times but it refused to start .
But the dealer managed to start it and said to me that was due to low battery.
Other than that rear brake had almost zero stopping power .
The bike is clean and the owner had upgraded to cbr.
found that the bikes power delivery too smooth when compared to other carb versions and i was not getting the torque pull which i had got from carb 220.
They quoted 45k but i have finalized for 42k because the bike is almost as good as new.IS THAT A GOOD DEAL?

42k isn't that bad after all. Do post the pics of the bike in good resolution, would love to see the lady.

I have moved out of PBK finally after 5 years. And have got awesome service. Last 1 year I have patiently tried to work with PBK to help restore my bike, but I only ended up spending more and more money with *no* resolution to my problems. They have not checked the most basic things in the first place, something which a mechanic working in 5 feet by 5 feet room manged to fix in 2 days!

Honestly, I am super pissed and disappointed with PBK now!

But yeah, 1L kms coming soon!

There will probably never be touring bikes like the ZMA and P220 EVER again!! And that is just sad

Very well you realized it late. Most of the outside mechanics are good but we have to find them. Most of the service center mechanics are least interested in servicing your bikes as they get fixed salary. But outside mechanics will eagerly solve your problems as if they solve your problem, then gain a customer and also source of income.

And you are 100% right in the midst of KTM, CBR, kawasaki still a ZMA or P220 feels legend. ZMA, ZMR and P220 are three indian bikes that will beat most bikes when it comes to maintenance and comfort. Sadly now-a-days no one is looking at both touring and performance but only style which makes it not comfortable for touring and forget about pillion.

I do have one question for you though. Why you chose the Fi over the Carb ? Just curious.

Getting Fi bike serviced from non PBK mechanic, isn't that quite a risk? Also, do they have equipments to tune the DTSFi??

chain is full of rust plus needs lube ,searched for shops but everything is closed down here in chennai due to pongal(Makar Sankranti)

Facing some serious issue some little smoke is coming from piston area suspecting it to be old oil, changing it tomorrow or is it any other problem cause none of the warning lights are glowing.

what is the current market price of MOTUL 5100 and rear disk pad?

and ma bike does 70kph@5k rpm and after crossing it foot pegs starts vibrating(typical pulsar kind of) expecting improvements after lubing chain and new engine oil

                          • Pics looks great, looks maintained in the right way.
Chain lube , since budget is low, go for diamond or oks lube. Get diesel to clean the chain first. If you are ok with a bit messy/dirty rims, go for gear oil to lube the chain.
OKS and diamond comes at Rs120/- per bottle. Can last 3-4 useages.

Motul 5100 retails at about Rs500/- per litre. You will need 1.2l so get 2 bottles and the other bottle can be used for the next 4 oil changes.

I think the rear break pads (KBX one's ) have gone up, before it was 140ish now its 180 or something, i can't remember corectly. Can someone conform on this ?

                            Cheers

SHORT REVIEW OF PULSAR 220 DTS-FI

As a newbie i couldnt find any difference due to FI because of my slow riding style.the way the pump works every time i switch on gives me the feeling of riding some thing which is far more expensive.
And even though its old model still has good road presence and every one stares at us .
Special thanks to powerful headlamps and horns everybody from cows to trucks give way when we want the way
And i am not getting bullied by others as i ride slow.
I do have some problems like DUB DUB sound from my exhaust and have little fear of over heating but i am yet to test it.
And special thanks to praful ana for replying all the queries patiently.

                              REPAIRS PLANNED
Changing spark plugs for dub dub sound(saving bucks for NGK )
Checking AFR in PBK for the same problem above mentioned .
cleaning of air and fuel filter and later replacing .
                              Replacing brake pad.
Checking all the wire connection as i have little doubts with it.

                              • ^^ Is that O-ring specific chain lube ? I don't think so!

Look for Tribocor/3M/TVS for O Ring specific chain sprays. Else if you have the patience get SAE 90 grade gear oil and use that to apply on the chain!

EDIT: That dub dub sound comes when you are decelerating ? I might be normal sound
