Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Yep, sounds like the starter clutch is disintegrating. Time to get a new one before it totally breaks apart.Originally posted by sandwichk View PostOne way clutch was not available. It sometimes make loud bang or kad kad sound as if engine broke down. [emoji24]_________________________

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
all ex-pbk's are now ktm dealers. they don't touch bajaj bikesOriginally posted by Praful View Post1. The same diagnostic tool is used for KTM's as well. I think the port is different, but do none of the ex-PBK's tune the 220 Fi now? Wow!!
.
the diag tool used now (since a yr) is a new one from bosch (green colored). more than the tool, what is important is the bike specific information is loaded on the tool.
earlier they used to use the big grey one, which as you said was also used with the pulsar. these ex-pbk's will definitely have that tool but they do not touch the pulsars normally. also some ex-pbk outlets might have their bajaj specific service centers also.. so try and coordinate among them to get the diag tool and run the tests.

Interesting, my service still uses the old grey one for both KTM and Pulsars.Originally posted by s1d View Postall ex-pbk's are now ktm dealers. they don't touch bajaj bikes

Bajaj, should sell these old tools to people who want to keep the bike._________________________

s1d - Thank you for the information. I am out of station for 2 weeks, so after coming back will check with current KTM service centers and see if something can be worked out.Originally posted by s1d View Postall ex-pbk's are now ktm dealers. they don't touch bajaj bikes

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
So looks like after around 55K kms (since the last change) the Clutch Bell has worn out again. Need to replace the Clutch Bell Kit and plates, I guess that should be with some of load issues I was seeing the bike.
On another note, I've ordered this Liquid Moly petrol injector cleaner. Will update my experience after using it for some time.
What front tyres are good these days? Looks like stock is the only option presently. I'm running the 80/100-17 Zapper FQ from the CBR150 for about 3 years now and its time for a change._________________________

Nope, its a 110/70 tyre right? There is hardly any sidewall height left to cushion the road. Plus the tyre looks like it has formed a very aggressive "V" profile instead of a "U" sharped profile. That tyre is clearly designed for a wider rim.Originally posted by sandwichk View PostEver tried this one?
How'z your experience with it so far?_________________________

Wow, just read the review. Sounds like its a god send. I am not too sure about the sidewall height though. Will see if the showroom will allow a trial fitting of the tyre.Originally posted by sandwichk View PostLast edited by Praful; 06-23-2017, 03:33 PM._________________________

How's the German snake oil performing? Any real world benefits, per se? Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.
THE END

Re: Pulsar 220 DTS-Fi
Did you previously change the front/rear in the past too? If you haven't now you will surely have that issue, because the wear will be uneven between front and rear sprockets.Originally posted by sandwichk View PostChanged the front sprocket at 26k km. Cost - ₹150. Rear sprocket and chain are still good.[emoji51]
I did not know Bajaj was selling only the front sprocket, previously they only sold the sprocket set with the chain.

Will know in a couple of weeks, waiting for my current tank full of petrol to get empty. Once near empty will pour in the injector cleaner with a load of fuel.Last edited by Praful; 06-25-2017, 05:17 PM._________________________

As you said it's a snake oil at best. Tried ifftex and other cleaners available in the market. Nothing beats opening up your injectors and passing wd40 to blast away the muck and grime.
