    Thanks Anurag. Much appreciated!

Apart from the all black engine and gearbox and also the console having engine malfunction light (Fi) vs side stand light (Dtsi). The biggest difference is the fuel cock -

There is no fuel cock in the Fi !

^^^ The biggest difference which is visible from a mile away was the change in colour of alloys from silver to black. Or so i have thought all these years!!!
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Give your details here if you want to help your fellow xBhpian stranded in your city

Not really because a lot of folks change the color of the wheels, the engine no so much!

Before the Dtsi was launched, changing the Fi to all black or at least black wheels was the rage !!

Hope I can chime in, to this day the FI, is a beautiful looking machine. Silverish looking swingarm, fork legs, everywhere there were those silver-ish touches, it just made it look beautiful from every possible angle and the BLUE FI was a stunner of a lady, and the paint job on the casings were altogether a different story.

I just wish Bajaj carried that paint job on the current breed, instead of those god awful "speed lines"

              End of rant!

              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

              THE END

I was cruising on the Hubli-Yellapur-Ankola highway last monday and suddenly after a gear change, I heard a marked difference in the engine tone. It sounded like the engine was seizing up! I immediately parked on the side of the road and checked the oil levels, spark plugs and the usual culprits. Didnt find anything off, and when i started the bike again it sounded normal again. So, I rode off again through some very heavy rain.

Next morning, when I was cleaning the chain, I cranked the engine again and that sound was back! On closer inspection, I realized that the rivet joint on the exhaust, under the footpeg had completely given away and that the silencer chamber was just hanging by the nut!

I pulled over immediately to Bhatkal Bajaj and they said there is nothing they could do there as they didnt have the time or the tools to figure it out. I rode back home to Mysore somehow and took it to the SVC here yesterday. They're saying they cannot do anything about it and that I would have to replace the entire exhaust unit and would cost 8K!!

Anyone here faced a similar problem earlier?

Congrats... On finally riding your bike after many years

This was a common problem with the Fi exhaust and from the looks of it you're still on the stock one. Not everyone has this issue, but most tourers have had this issue.

And yea there is no escape apart from getting a new exhaust. You will now get the dtsi exhaust and that lasts lot more than the Fi one, but performance takes a marginal hit too. You may not even notice the drop.

Well, I've filed a complaint with Bajaj, tweeted at them, Facebooked at them and have written very strongly worded emails to them. I managed to get through to someone higher up and they pretty much admitted that it was a design flaw.

However, after waiting around, I got it done in the local markets. Fellow took it apart, broke off the innards, welded another plate in, and riveted it to the outer cylinder and fixed it back. Cost me 350/- Rs and its running beautifully now.

1- The whole 220 fibre part vibrate and makes sound so much during acceleration. All the screws are tightened recently but still it makes vibration plus the back mirrors vibrates alot. Any suggestions??
2- The white palstic of headlight has turned pale yellow very much and it disturbes the devil look of 220 from front. Any suggestions to fix it??

For vibrations open fairing and put rubber and double tape and tighten the morrors..
For headlight apply white colgate on the headlight and wipe it after sometime...there is a high probability of this working...but incase it doesnt work u can sticker the glass of headlight with black sticker leving two circles for headlight to spread beam.
