I don't know what can be the cause, you've changed them, pump, the pipes the plugs etc, now what could it be? I *reckon* it could the current flow issue i.e. the coils or the very coils that produce electricity. I think you've been having this issue for along time. Time to give a considerate look on the electricity part.

plus the fuel filter developed a crack...had to get it changed on my own....took bout half an hour...but i did it neatly ...by the way...the tank cap seal leaks petrol when the tank is inverted
Tank cap isn't supposed to leak, I had to paint a tank and kept it inverted for a whole two days in home inverted with some 3 liters of fuel in it, and not a single drop of fuel leaked anywhere.

Check if if it's flowing from vent (that small hole near to the filler cap)

Cheers!

the thing is that i had a lot of issues with the relat...(blask starter relay when i changed the pump) and had to fit the relay of a 220 dts-i on it....which is an indian made relay....the 220 fi relay being a thai made....u think that could be the issue??? this prob started like since i changed the pump only....not before that....

vent near the filler cap?? where exac is it located??? ......its surely leaking through the seal.......u get replacement seals rite?

Nah those vents for the tank and there aren't any seals as such as opposed to the tank cap themselves, you need not worry on that. And as a matter of fact most bikes leak fuel when topsy turvy, don't fret.

I *guess* the problem could be in the relay, just a blind guess here, since you've differenitated between thai and indian. But tell you what, before for pump going kaput, I guess it was thai and you replaced the pump along with the indian relay right? If yes, then it's time to give a second look at relay.

And major point, do you run on reserve all the time in your bike?

Cheers!

• Pulsar 220 dts-fi malfucntion light goes on and cause of problem

Hi Praful ,

After long list part replaced to My old Pulsar 220DTS-Fi which includes

1) bcu
2)new modified 2 nozzle fuel pump
3)fuel gauge
4)solenoid with relay
5)clutch plate assembly
6)piston ring
7)new revised engine temperature sensor with socket from bajaj
8)low mobile sensor,
9)armature with crank angle sensor
10)throttle body
11)mobile sensor switch attached with the radiator
12)new speedo sensor cable
13)valve with rearing kit
14)and all the socket of the wiring treated with de-sulfuric compound so no loose connection happens again.

After all this my bike runs superbly. In mrtb test at osl it touches my life time high speed of 148kmp that to after running 137000kms.

But a strange problem is getting irrited me this days is malfunction light grows when bike is cold and it shuts off when bike is getting heated.

And also if try to pickup quickly the malfunction light grows up.

The service center guys told me that its the ecu that creating the problem as its runs hell lot of kms.
That is why the problem comes and go.

Do you have any idea about this problem.

Regards,

somnath

hmm...will have to check the entire electrical setup...nope...never run on reserve...always half tank or above....btw...can this be caused due to worn out clutch plates?

Worn clutch plates will overall affect the power delivery, but not jerk like the bike is having fuel feed issues. What is the life of your clutch plates, any idea?

• Break down!!!

My bike broke down ...but it was .5km frm ma house managed to push it .
I was riding very sedately well below 30kmph and i hit a speed breaker @4th gear and bike dies
I thought that was due to low speed and high gear but starter motor was crying but no response from engine.
tried to push start but no use and then i tested the starter motor
If i didnt give throttle its WEEN WEEENWEEEENRRRRrrrr...and then dies
If i give throttle its KKKRRRRKKKHHHRRRR....rrrrrrrrr...dies
LOW FUEL LAMP became faulty before 2k kms and it was GLOWING and i opened the tank and checked for fuel there was fuel splashing sound when i shook it.
And at 50m from my house one friendly north east guy offered to push my bike seeing me trying to push start in vain THE BIKE STARTED IN 1ST GEAR and i offered him lift to his house but it DIED AGAIN when he was on my back seat.
this happened some 10m from ma house so i pushed it and wondering wat to do next
HAD PLANNED A RIDE TO TADA BUT NOW SCRATCHING MY HEAD.

UPDATE:
TRIED AFTER TWO HOURS STILL NOT STARTING!!!NO SLEEP!!!NO MAN OF STEEL TOMO....CHA

hey...had experienced the same prob........
had u washed ya bike yesterday or prior to the breakdown??

1.anyways....the black electric relay situated towards the left of the battery(your right when facing the bike) .....pull out the relay from the socket....blow dry the socket....and take a small pin or sharp object and try to remove any carbon deposits on the terminals in the socket......... spray some wd 40 in it if u have some....no worries otherwise......plug in the relay after 10 mins and try startin the bike.......if it works...ya saved...if not...move on to step two...

2.since step one doesnt work.....its probably a fact that ya relay could be short circuited......or "not"....check ya fuses.....one towards the right of the batt...no.15 fuse...n the other under the seat...no.10...if fused off..replace em..try startin.....still no? move to step 3....

3.check the starter relay....or solenoid....take a screw driver...switch on ya bike....turn on the ignition killer switch....and create a contact point between the two terminals of the solenoid....see if the bike starts.....if still no??........then step 4...........

4.replace ya solenoid........try startin.......if it still doesnt work...then its two things......either ya starter motor(once in a blue moon failure) but the main culprit in this case will be a kaput fuel pump.....

happy researchin

That's speedo indicated, which means give or take you take the speedo error into consideration, you get even lower reading, which is tad lower. What's the top end you're able to go? Anything above 130 is a good read, and less at redline, time for new plates.

when i checked there was spark coming from relay and bike was auto starting without key .
and even ecu 3.9 came up.
praful bro ad suggested changing battery .
going to stop riding and start saving for battery
which relay was sparking bro?? the black one?? if it was sparking...then thats cause theres too much load comin on the relay causin it to get srort circuited ......... ecu 3.9. error comes when u have a loose connection...that means ya fuse has been blown off...check the fuse in frnt of the battery.....right of battery...its enclosed in a small box...like a black mint sized box(smaller in fact) get it changed..its a no.15 fuse...buy spares.... ...plus what happens is that when theres a loose conn or short fuse...or short relay....the ecu senses the missing link...and puts the bike on standstill.....since the fi has 11 sensors in total.......this leads to battery discharge too.....get ya battery charged....did u try tartin by shortin the relay?? (metal canister relay = starter relay) ....and check if the black relay(electrical relay for engine running) is heating and fuming.....guess ya pump is kaput too...do exactly what i posted in the above comments......and update me..

That's speedo indicated, which means give or take you take the speedo error into consideration, you get even lower reading, which is tad lower. What's the top end you're able to go? Anything above 130 is a good read, and less at redline, time for new plates.

Cheers!

same thing exac...since it holds all the points from the battery to the sensors.............so u short the two bolts which house the diff connections.....the motor will crank up and start...if id doesnt start after cranking up......two problems......black electrical relay...or malfunctioned fuel pump....

hmm...havent really rode abobe 110 ...so no idea...but guess il have to change the plates...so the jerking could be cause of the worn out plates??
Again, worn clutch plates don't cause jerks as such, but you can expect gear slippage and poor power transfer, that's inherent. Jerks as when fuel feed is stopped, isn't related to clutches.

For some reason I am dumb enough to get my head around this. Do you mean, you use the coin or something to make a contact point between the relay that comes to the starter and keep one end of the coin on the starter and the other end to the wire and it fires, I mean.... if I get it correctly.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

will have to get it checkew with a mech..........

nooo...the solenoid has two bolts on it.....think of it as one from the batt...other from other electricals......take a screw driver...touch both bolts together....let em spark....the bike will come to life

p.s....check the two points covered with the rubber socks......

OH darn oh darn I thought it was from the starter motor which houses the solenoid, that's the starter coil brother. Jeez.
