131 Kmph Speedo indicated Vs. 128.8 Kmph True Speed
    i.e. = 1.6 % Error

    Not bad.

    • And I crashed !

So, after more than 1.5 yrs on 220 and more than 5 years of biking i had a crash today on highway. thankfully/thank GOD, i and the guy whom i tried to save is safe.
      This is how it happened....
while returning home from office at 8pm , i was on the eastern exp highway cruising at around 80, nearing home, suddenly from no where a group of guys were crossing the road, mind u, this is 4 lane highway, i blew horn so they stopped but one guy(donno wat happed to him, guess they were comin after watchin Ghajini ) suddenly jumped as if he was NEO from matrix and could dodge my bike, but to my and his bad luck he landed staright in my path.
I had to jam my brakes and move to left to avoid him and in tat moment i started skiddin i had almost managed to control but due to the brakes (or donno how) i just crashed, it felt as if i skid two ways (not sure thou).

Anyways on collapse the bike just switched itself off and i landed on my shoulder- hands and helmet.
This is the first time i saw the highway thru my helmet, lyin parallel to the road.
For a few seconds i was blank, thought i knocked the guy as crowd had gathered around him.
A guy picked me up and started to look around and asking me if am hurt and as i regained my mind i saw my bike lying on the road
I quickly went to the other guy, but to my surprise the crowd was actually slapping him . I had to resuce him as I later found out that a car and a auto wala had to brake in hard because of my crash and the car driver told me tat if i didnt had braked then tat guy wld have been in deepshit ! anyways he had a bump on his hand as i couldnt avoid him completely.

Will go to the PBK SC tomorrow.
      Damages :
      Bike :
      1. handle bar bent and touches the tank .
      2. entire front fairing bent.
      3. dent on the tank.
      4. scratches on the right side fairing mirror and on exhaust(slight).
      hopefully nothing else...

      Me:
      1. wound on left leg.
      2. right leg toe and right hand palm is hurting will check from a doc 2morrow.
Thanks to helmet gloves and jacket which took the impact !

As they say SHIT HAPPENS !

      • glad that u didn't get hurt badly... Safety Gear IS important and it did help you there.

Abt the bike, check ur silencer carefully as its joints break easily.

              • @Chilled: Looks like skidding under hard braking and falling seems to be common to most falls on the 220.

Don't worry mate, the bike will get ok! Take care of yourself, allow your wounds to heal!

Most of the damage to the bikes seems cosmetic. Just asses the exhaust if there are any sort of dents or anything that could hamper its functioning in the long term, if that is the case do get it replaced, insurance will cover 90% of it!

                  • Get well soon bro!

Something like this had happened to me before. This is called as panic braking. In this, the rider jabs on the brakes and the bike locks up its tyres. There is a fishtailing of the bike resulting in crash.

Don't worry about bike. But take care of yourself. Buy good knee pads now!
                    cheers!

                      • @Chilled: Glad to know that you are not seriously injured, else, these kind of crashes could really be deal-breakers. As for your bike, it would be alright eventually.

@RX: He didn't need to do anything as the crowd had already taken care of that!

But anyhow, these things are expected to happen. Remember, you are riding/ driving in India where ANYTHING goes. Really! Take care and get well soon.
                        :)

Even I paid 87xxx/- on road in Chennai! There is huge difference in taxation and octroi, etc in different states and cites!

Delhi is the place where the 220 is available the cheapest!

Even in Mumbai it would be pretty high with extremely high amounts of octroi!!!
