The engine of the P220 has a characteristic harshness at around 6000 RPM at which point the bike does around 82-83 Kmph.. so vibes at around that RPM and speed is quite normal but not unbearable for the P220.

In case the vibes are too much to bear, get in touch with the sevice guys.

      • Am totally fedup by the unprofessionalism of "Arun Automobiles", Nagpur( A Bajaj Pbk Showroom & Service Center).
My bike have met with accident which damaged the whole headlight and damages the fairing.
        Oil leakage and exhaust damaged.
I claimed insurance but nothing replaced other than the headlight assembly and fairing goes to paintjob but there are only 2 mechanics in the whole pbk service center, who knows to work on P220.
And one is ill and other mechanic gone to watch the shooting of movie "Veer" at Rajasthan.
Now, Iam suffering too much. I have spend money but am fully unsatisfied by the noobish service of bajaj.
I asked them power lag and chain sprocket problem but they said its ok. Now, what heck is this.
Iam planning to email Bajaj about their rubbish service including my P220's pics. Can anyone provide me their email id?
Now, am thinking to stay away from upcoming Ninja.
If this is the condition with P220 what I can expect with Ninja service.

        • So my previous statement about "how stupid the PBK's around the country is" is true... I see a lot of people coming up with this now...

My next question is does anyone have some rust like appearance in your rear alloys?? Well the guys here at Chennai PBK claim that is because of some oil splatter and stuff... But when I touch it, the surface feels like it has pores... They say that the paint has chipped and it is common.. But I never saw this problem on any other P220 that was given for service on that day... Just wanted to know if it was the paint alone or whether it was some other sort of degradation that was taking place..

My bike's idle is 1200RPM when warm, so when cold (1000RPM) it refuses to start without little throttle input. What harm will it cause?

Also i wanted to know if setting idle RPM lower will contribute in anyway to the fuel effiency.
Before visiting the IDIOTIC K Nagar PBK, my Idling was set up at 1300rpm. Now it has been set at 1000rpm. This is the sole reason why my bike is giving problem while starting. Never ever had this stupid problem. I am really frsutrated now. Tomorrow to my trusted Okhla PBK.
I think you should also ask them to increase the idling RPM.

Seniors: please comment on mine & his problem please

Idle RPM should be at least 1300-1400 RPM. There is another RPM that is set during the CO tuning and that is the anti-stall RPM. If you observe carefully, when you release the clutch when in gear, the rpm automatically rises...this is the anti-stall setting. Ideally PBK sets it to 2000-2100 RPM.
This is the ideal RPM setting.

Though lower idle RPM may not necessarily lead to starting issues, you would face a engine cut frequently since the engine does not idle at a sufficient enough RPM to sustain the next power stroke. In such cases, starting with the throttle slightly open might help.

In any case, visit PBK for correcting the idle and anti-stall setting.

@aditya.sinkar: ask the PBK to confirm whether balancer loading is required for your bike.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

                            • The cause of my vibration issue has been figured out by the PBK.

Apparently, bad quality fuel has caused carbon formation inside the cylinder which has lead to scoring of the cylinder block.
As a solution the piston rings are being replaced, but the rings will take 7-10 days to arrive.

I am still wonder how could Shell fuel cause this!!!!

                              • Praful, when was your engine's head opened last time?

or, do u always run on Shell?

Anyways, I vaguely remember that u did over 30K KMs on your P220. This need not be because bad quality fuel alone but that would definitely be a contributor. What is the engine decarbonizing frequency mentioned in the manual??
