Ok guys. Here's my scenario. I have secured admission for Masters degree now. I will be traveling about 40kms daily. My 220 will be completing 2 years on July 10th. running is about 10k.
The road is mostly highway,so fuel consumption should be optimal. I am expecting 45+ on the highway. The exhaust scene is scaring me. And also please tell me any tips for improving average as i will be using this road and bike for atleast three years.

Which silencer do you have? The one with the rivets for the heat shield?Originally posted by nitrosatya View PostOk guys. Here's my scenario. I have secured admission for Masters degree now. I will be traveling about 40kms daily. My 220 will be completing 2 years on July 10th. running is about 10k.

What's the mileage you get currently?
Don't bother so much about mileage. Assuming you do 40kms daily for 6 days a week, thats approx 960 Kms a month.
Assuming that fuel is 50 bux to a litre, here's what your monthly fuel budget will look like :-
45 Kmpl - 1066.6 Rs.
40 Kmpl - 1200.0 Rs.
35 Kmpl - 1371.4 Rs.
Even with a 10kmpl variation your monthly fuel budget will vary by about 300bux only.....So moral is ride the way you feel like riding!

Most probably you are free of worries, let PBK check out my silencer if its really broken from inside or it is something that can be fixed.Originally posted by nitrosatya View PostI have the first silencer. with the rivets. And i get about 40+ now when i am riding her slowly.
If its broken from inside, then even the new silencer is not free of defects!

Last I checked, the silencer was costing upwards of about 6.5K!

There is a rubber piece to damp the shock from the stand hitting the silencer. Its actually a design issue on the part of Bajaj, also the weld strength of the welds in the silencer is one the primary causes for it to break. Have you noticed, quite a few other Bajaj bikes also have silencer issues!Originally posted by nitrosatya View PostGuys, i think when we take the stand up, it hits the exhaust. And that must somewhere aggravate the cracking problem.
Also today morning my bike was showing the filter element choked icon!!! It disappeared after i restarted her!?
Thanks for the help Tripathy ji!

Congrats, Nitro....you're bike just threw you a tantrum
.
Buddy, please don't 'ji' me....

Air filter choke icon always dissapears if you restart your bike. But that doesn't mean the Filter is ok. You rip the bike it will again start flashing. Have experienced it few times. Just open the filter, wash the foam with diesel & dry it as much as possible. Refit it, the air filter choke sign will
disappear. This is the only thing I can do at home, myself
One weird thing happening lately. Suppose I am riding at 80kph contantly at 6000 rpm, as soon as I lower the throttle a bit, the speedo touched 47 kph & again I up the throttle, the speedo takes some time to get stable at 80. Now I ripped the bike on the DND few days bike the. The Speedo wont go beyond 109 - 105 though I am pretty much confident that I was doing 115+. Any idea why??
My 7th servicing is due badly
