is it not possible to just cut the chain by one link and use it?

should be possible. there's at least the link lock on a P220's chain. R15's chain doesn't have a link lock. A full chain it is!

Yes I remember reading that, but then why are PBK's still suggesting 2.5?

The legal limit is 3.0, I don't they'd be setting it above 3.0!

Yes, thats very much possible. But only as a stop gap solution. Shud be good for about 2K kms, coz even the sprockets would have worn out.

Btw, it was a interesting piece of info about the R15 chain, any specific reasons why is it so?

it might be possible coz the CO level shown is brfore the cat con , so the final output of CO must be less than the level shown at the service station

            Hmmm, sounds logical.

But yet the PBK insists on setting it at 2.5 before the cat con!

            • What to do with the CO guys?

I checked both the wheels and the rear wheel is getting slowed down by something. Infact it has worsened than before. When i rotate the front wheel I can hear it grazing against the disc so need to get that checked too.

^^^ Check the Co and maintain it between 2.5 to 3.5 , try to stick to same brand of petrol.
have u checked the chain slackness, when i had got the tyre changed the guy had not fixed it properly so the chain was 2 tight and hence the rear tyre felt jammed.
Aprilia RS 125 or Honda CB400 Vtec ..... which one will it be ??? I think its gonna be NINJA ZX 6R :-)

I had got the chain slack adjusted just before going to Chennai by PBK people. I dont think thats the problem but ill mention that anyway. The CO must have changed en route coz I had filled from different pumps. Ill stick to one and see how the bike performs.

                  Thanks man.

Its not rotating freely. Slows down at some point. I was talking about CO coz of the mileage issue.

                      • For Millage its CO, also check the fuel filter and if mullah is not issue change it costs 80 bucks.

I feel its a bit strange that u feel wheel not rotating freely when ur riding
help me get this, u mean to say at say 6k RPM on top gear ur bike sometimes gives less than wats expected(81km/hr) ?

Its running fine while riding. I reach 81/82/83 kmph at 6k in 5th gear. When I check the wheel, when the bike is on centre stand, its jammed.

The rear wheel not being free is a characteristic.... Try and rotate the wheel with your hand, just give it one push...if it does atleast 1 rotation then your wheel is not jammed in all probability.

Slight amount noise is always there from disc, if you can hear it when you rotate the wheel with ur hands its not an issue. But if the noise is coming when you are riding also...then you have an issue.

About the CO varying too much with fuel change, well thats not so much of an issue that your mileage will drop to such low levels. While good quality fuel makes a world of a difference, don't beat yourself too much about it...the issue with your mileage could be most probably caused by something else.

If you were running with a Full Tank i.e. fuel fully upto the brim...and still you need to refuel between Bangy and Chennai then definitely your bike is giving below 30 Kmpl, coz thats the worst I have got on this route with a steady 110-120kmph!

Incase you are heading to PBK (AutoService) tomorrow morning, let me know I'll be there for a short while for get small issues fixed up on my bike. I could have a look at your bike then!

                            • ^^^ well with correct chain slack the wheel rotates freely not just one rotation but many more... but yeah u cant compare it with other bikes

The rear wheel isn't rotating once after a push. Always less than half. Depends on the force of the push too.

Front disc is not a worry then

Mileage is surely below 30 kmpl. Close to 25 which is why im worried.

I was planning to go to Indiranagar PBK today but I'll come to AS tomorrow.
