  • 3 Possible solutions:-

    1. Rider+Pillion loose weight
    2. Remove the centre stand
    3. Scrape the hell out of the stand so it never scrapes (my stand currently)

Please ask your bro, where he heard this something from

Its mostly like a rumor! As there is no official news from Bajaj yet! And in the past too Bajaj hasnt ever hinted on a upgrade for the 220!

And regarding the new 200, read chetan's post above!

            • Pre-load and what it means...

The design of a motorcycle's suspensions is such that it is always stressed. People who have seen the "Bullworker" exercise equipment will recall that even when fully released, the spring was loaded. Adjustment of pre-load modifies the position of suspension wrt the load on the spring. This is done taking into consideration the amount of force (bike+rider+pillion|no pillion) that acts on the springs.

There is a term called as "Sag" which is effectively, the difference between the entirely released suspension (as when on center stand) and the length compressed by the rider and bike (when on the road). The sag is adjusted and engineered with precise calculations to avoid the suspension bottoming out or on the reverse scale, topping out.

Now if we derive from this logic, we are simply increasing or decreasing the sag and hence the acting forces on the string (rider+bike+pillion|no pillion) do not change. Increasing the pre-load increases the initial force on the spring, subsequently reducing the sag. Decreasing the pre-load decreases the initial force in the spring resulting in an increase in the sag.

Springs that have worn out will tend to bottom out even if pre-load is increased and more so since there is no resiliency. The statement that mechanics make "spring kharab hoga to pr-load badhana hai" may turn out to be a misleading one.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.
