Fuel filters for cars have a much longer life. I've used a M800 fuel filter for my bike for 5K kms without any chokes whatsoever.

The FF for the 220 is quite fine and small in size and thus needs replacement sooner!
Hmm ok. But it just feels funny... having to carry a fuel filter with you... LOL! What other stuff does Bajaj expect you to carry... fuel hoses? fuel pump? Mebbe even a spare piston or two? Gosh, better start towing a mobile spare parts store!

I wonder... is it anywhere similar in other FI bikes? RTR? Glamour?

^^ You don't need to carry a spare FuelFilter. Almost all long trips even at their longest are no longer than 3K kms. Thats the life of the fuel filter!

Incase of longer trips ones is bound to touch some decently sized town which would have a PBK where one can get the FF replaced!

Dunno what you ride, but neither of fuel hoses/fuel pump/piston needs replacement so soon!

Its not just Bajaj.... if someone is going on a long tour... its always better to carry clutch cables, accelerator cables and spark plugs, coz these things are not available at small mechanic/garage shops coz hi-tech bikes have hi-tech parts .... in the same way.... FF for the P220.

No idea about the other Fi bikes. Btw... P220 is a different Fi bike

Its not always necessary that you are going to a town place... the last time I was heading Goa... and around half the way near Satara-Kolhapur area... the bike started missing beats (as if fuel tank is empty- I wasn't able to cross 90kmph).... I knew its the FF .... luckily I was near Kolhapur which has a PBK.... so changed it there.

It costs just 40-odd rupees.... its better to carry one on long trips coz you never know the quality of fuel you are getting on highways.

              • ^^ Or change the FF when you know that you would riding for a distance that would be over the FF's replacement interval!

Sir ... not everybody stays near a PBK .... so better to keep one with you... trip plans sometimes happen in a jiffy

                  • Sirjee agreed!

But Racoon sahab has made change of Fuel Filter seem like its changing a part in the Saturn-5 rocket, so for his convenience had to make it sound simple !

First things first.... get your spark plugs (clean and gap set properly) and fuel filter (clogged-change) checked. These could be causing the problem. If they are not the cause.... you'll have to get the ECU/CO% setting checked.
