I've not been everywhere, not done most of the things, but yeah, I have push started the bike!

And I had bloody awesome Chennai rains for company.

I parked my to pay my telephone bills, came back and started the bike, it was dead. But then, the lights worked, the speedo was aglow during the self test. So knew it wasn't a dead battery. So called up PBK, they said it might be a starter problem. So found a sort of less busy bylane and began pushing the bike. Without any sort of background music the rains started. The bike was in second gear, popped the clutch, she gasped, coughed and died. Had to do atleast three re-runs before she coughed into life!

Question is, what if the battery is dead? What happens then?

U better PM Praful for the full details. I bet he will find it more than satisfying to share the full info with u! AFAIK and remember, his battery died on him a couple of kms before the Chennai PBK SC and the pump would not run. The sensors all died and he had to push the bike to SC.

You're dead if the battery is dead!

I don't care much about the other sensors, but with a dead battery the fuel pump will not run and the bike cannot be push started in this scenario, AFAIK!
The only way out is dump it in a truck and take it to the nearest PBK. I am not sure, but maybe a Jumpstart might work. Need to get that clarified from Bajaj.

The fuel pump priming noise remains once the bike starts, coz the bike needs fuel at a higher pressure.

Abhi, I can't help you with dealers, but you can give sites like asklaila.com & sulekha.com a try for searching for MRF dealers in your area.
About Vyde, well I have heard nothing but good things about it, and I am getting mine changed today.
I would'nt advise putting a 140 section tyre, but you could try a 130/70 tyre from Sakura.

P220 has a three phase magneto and it can surely be push started and after the intial start the fuel pums works on alternator so it can surely be ridden to nearset PBK SS for getting the battery charged.

Boss, dushmani kab hui thi ki tum Friends pe aa gaye....

Like I said, whatever type the magneto is....if the battery is dead the fuel pump will not prime the fuel lines. And without that the bike cannot be started.
A dead battery is like no battery all! I hope you understood what I'm trying to say here!

I am no engineer here to comment on such things, after reading your post i just called up area manager service for probiking and i just typed here what he told me.

I rasie the same ques and he told me that even in stalled condition there is enough fuel in the lines for such jumpstarts.

                        • Finally, my turn to post in this thread !! Not that I couldn't earlier but being an owner now makes it all the more worthwhile. You guys may remember me posting few days ago in 'what bike' section, at last got my P220 today. Settled for red one after my initial liking for silver; I know, I know

Am bloody tired and just about to go to sleep, have been up since last night, went straight to PBK to after my night shift.

Would like to confirm that P220 really has great riding position, the clip-ons are the difference I guess. I also made sure the bike I chose had softer seats. So that is no longer an issue. Pics will have to wait for tomorrow. For now need some quick tips for run-in, especially RPM for each gear.

                          • @montiez-Congrats!Finally a new owner in our P220 thread.

Regarding run-in and r.p.m just follow what the manual says atleast for the first 1k.

@monitez: welcome to elite group Red seems to be the flavor of the month. Just ensure that you follow these
                              1. Proper warm up, especially on a cold engine
                              2. Good Quality Fuel. 91 octane please
                              3. Runnin In RPM as per manual with intermittent but not frequent burst upto allowed RPM + 1.5K RPM
Additionally, I changed the oil at 200, 700, 1400 and finally at 2700 KM. Used mineral based oil all these days and shifted to Smi Synth at the last service.

                              Your 220 should rock.
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.
