I checked the oil again today and it was nowhere to be seen in the marked level.Originally posted by harishsangwan View PostToday, while riding I could smell something burning. I think the smell was due overheating engine. The reason could be low engine oil, which I havent checked. But if that indeed is the reason then I am wondering if I should just add some extra oil now or change the oil completely? The oil is still good to go for now and I had plans of changing to Motul oil, maybe even the 15W50 grade oil.
What do you suggest? Shall check the oil level in the morning and update about the same.
I rode the bike for a couple of Kms, waited for about 10-15mins and then checked the oil level with the bike on main stand. As before, the oil was not present anywhere between the upper and lower mark level
I then started the engine and left it running at idle RPM for a minute or two and then checked the oil again after about 5mins. Shocking the result was same. No oil level at all.
Does this mean that I am running with too low on oil or I am so stupid that fail to even check the oil level right?

Try to change for both forks at the same time along with new fork oil....this will save your friend another visit later, since the other fork oil seal must also be waiting to go bad, and he can also change the oil in both forks..this means no fork worries for some time.Originally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View PostOk thanks sir,My friend's hunk is having fork oil leaking prob,so will go to svc and order the seal.

You said it...but happens with many bikers who are not aware of this..now that you know you have started checking...If the oil is 2K Kms old then change it otherwise just top it up and ride...Originally posted by harishsangwan View PostI checked the oil again today and it was nowhere to be seen in the marked level.

Just checked the ODO and it indicates that theres another 400kms to hit the 2k kms mark for the last oil change. I guess I should change the oil instead.Originally posted by psr View PostYou said it...but happens with many bikers who are not aware of this..now that you know you have started checking...If the oil is 2K Kms old then change it otherwise just top it up and ride...
Could you tell me if I just need to change the oil or even the oil filter? Also, do you guys suggest a semisynthetic oil like the Motul 5100 4T 15W50 or the cheaper and more popular Motul 3000 4T Plus 20W40, Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20W40.
I have seen most of you recommending the Gulf and the Motul 3000, but I was wondering if the semisynthetic is worth the price?

Mine was blown ...changed it last sunday.Originally posted by psr View PostPart # 21..Seal oil...This is the fork oil seal.
A bottle of Motul fork oil costs 105 rupees and oil seals Errr...I got them free.Servicing cost 100(outside svc), including full petrol wash of all the parts in the Snap Aneesh has posted
.
The svc guys said my swingarm bush is gone and my bike is fishtailing above 100, I bashed them saying why did they ride my bike above 100.Dude...I have recently ride 125+ with a pillion without any issues
.
They gave me a estimate of 2k with a staying period of 3 days
.I fixed the issues outside with a trusted mechanic and myself in one sunday itself.

How much on the ODO ???Originally posted by harishsangwan View PostI have seen most of you recommending the Gulf and the Motul 3000, but I was wondering if the semisynthetic is worth the price?
Please use it only after completing 5k kms.It is well worth the price...I can give my word on that

Apologies for repeating this question. I did some search here and found that the oil filter change is not needed unless until its damaged.Originally posted by harishsangwan View PostCould you tell me if I just need to change the oil or even the oil filter?
I guess I kinda confused you. I have 38.8k kms on ODO. I meant to say that I changed the oil at 37.2k kms and have another 400kms left to hit the 2k kms mark.Originally posted by Only Amit... View PostHow much on the ODO ???

replies in bold..THERE ARE NO OIL FILTERS TO CHANGE IN ZMAOriginally posted by harishsangwan View PostJust checked the ODO and it indicates that theres another 400kms to hit the 2k kms mark for the last oil change. I guess I should change the oil instead.
What is the color of the oil originally, and now...since you had done 1,500Kms already suggest to change now.I guess your present oil is 10w30...

Stick with Mineral 20w40 as they serve the purpose and change every 1,500 or 2,000 Kms.If you are loaded then sky is the limit.

The service guy changed the oil earlier so not sure about how the color was. But the oil color now shows that it can still be used but then its pretty low level so will change it completely.

But then I have seen you suggest the Gulf 4T Plus 20W40, which according to Aneesh, is semisynthetic. Or is it Gulf 4T and not the '4T Plus' that you recommend?
Will be buying the oil now along with an oil tray and funnel. One little query. The manual says 900ml to be filled when draining out oil, but I wonder why some of you buy 1ltr?
