I do a dead kick before turning on the ignition and button start for the first time. I do this on my RX. And hardly use choke in both bikes.Originally posted by anmol_1990 View PostI never kick start my bike in morning, always half choke and a self and she fires instantly. psr sir, i checked for any air leaks in the air filter and carb conecter there are no air leaks . i observed that from the over flow pipe of carb, just below the overflow screw i can feel air being coming out from it and sometimes even petrol comes out as soon as engine shuts off with a crank sound. i gave the carb for cleaning thinking of some jam in float bowl even after that it still the same. Is air or fuel coming out from float bowl pipe normal ?Originally posted by pabi View Postwill check for any air leaks near the rubber hose. Any specific method to check ,will i feel any air pressure near the leaking point?on 4 wheels u feel the speed after a crash, 2 wheelers are much more advanced

No the float bowl drain screw and pipe is there for a purpose ie., to drain the bowl of sediments . If the screw is tight then there can be no leak of any kind...The main jet is just above,.. where the drain screw is..Originally posted by pabi View Postpsr sir, i checked for any air leaks in the air filter and carb conecter there are no air leaks . i observed that from the over flow pipe of carb, just below the overflow screw i can feel air being coming out from it and sometimes even petrol comes out as soon as engine shuts off with a crank sound. i gave the carb for cleaning thinking of some jam in float bowl even after that it still the same. Try to tighten the screw by turning it clockwise GENTLY...If there is still leak you may have to go for new bowl, or plug it with epoxy.
I hope you are referring to the lowermost screw at the bottom of carb bowl that can be seen from the kicker side...Last edited by psr; 06-11-2011, 08:19 PM.When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

.Even after tightening the screw to the max extent i can still feel the air/fuel leaking . When i try to stop this leaking by placing finger tightly engine shuts off . Will try with some epoxy or is float bowl available separately ? i tried buying a new overflow screw but couldn't get it, some mech said uni's is similar but even thats not available separately .

Better to block the vent with thick rubber pushed into the vent tube...like the white eraser rubber,...by putting the rubber on the mouth of vent tube and applying pressure upwards with the flat side of spanner held under the rubber...do not hammer, it will break the float bowl....... or plug the vent tube with M-SEAL Black....I hope you meant the screw with RED ARROW pointer

new cowling is gud.... it also helps in cooling the engine by directing the air to the engineOriginally posted by Aneesh@4GHz View PostMy Karizma with Karizma-R Guard.

Totally a myth! There are much bigger bikes India has produced and they never had engine guard/scoop. Infact the ZMA engine runs alot cooler if scoop is removed and one should plonked a leg guard for safety.Originally posted by Vishakh View Postit also helps in cooling the engine by directing the air to the engine

when i was cleaning the bike today noticed that on either side inside the cowling it was slightly curved towards the engine i thought it was used to direct air to engine for extra cooling..
. Yeah there are bigger bikes produced in india before but karizma is the only one which has proved it can run all day long cruising above 100 kmph

1 kick cold start that too w/o the choke thats just unbelievable sir!!!!!!!!
i can only dream about such a senario on my '05 ZMA, she never fires up w/o the choke even after its parked for 3-4 hours let alone morning starts and idles @1.3k hot
do you think i am running a lean AFR
BTW the AFR is set to what it came with the bike, the ASS guys are damn scared to tinker with it and always say "you will loose the average you are getting(i get about 36-38) if you try to tinker with it"
also i am using power1 for as long as i can rememberi am growing old, but not up!

No it does not....One of the first thing I noticed when I bought my Pre-owned ZMA-R was the engine heating in city traffic.I removed the lower scoop/cowling and found that the heat reduced . I then changed the HH Gook oil 10W30 with Gulf Pride 4T Plus 20 W 40 and ...Voila heat reduced very much. I also found the engine becoming smooth ,and really pleasurable to ride.Originally posted by Vishakh View Postnew cowling is gud.... it also helps in cooling the engine by directing the air to the engine

A lean AFR will only mean trouble to the engine...you will get additional 3 to 4 Kms extra per liter, but you will lack pickup, and trouble in acceleration with a pillion...and the engine will heat up very much...Originally posted by abhash View PostOMG

My 2007 ZMA-R is setup for 32 Kms in city(40-80Kmph) and 43 on the highway(110 Kmph).
The stock AFR setup is 4 FULL TURNS ANTI CLOCKWISE after GENTLY turning the AFR screw fully clockwise till it stops. If the screw is jammed then apply Brake oil,2 T , or Acetone and wait for an hour or two for the oil to penetrate...Alternately you can spray WD40 or Zorrick available with most Hardware stores to loosen the AFR screw.
Change your oil to JASO MA2 20 W 40 and FEEL the difference. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.
