  • After doing some research on the headlight taking various inputs checking international forum finally decided to buy a good Philips Extreme Power. So was going through the internet and came across H4 60/55w Philips Extreme Vision +100%. I thought would be just another name game to sell the product, then started to do some dig and found this product exceeds Philips Extreme and was the verdict by extreme user.

Went to GP Road and visited couple of shops and got the product. The shop keeper said this came into the market very recently and he was told it is better than extreme. Paid 550 bucks as it comes in a single pack.

I have plonked on my bike and the beams (low and high) are bright and intense. I'm waiting for the darkness to crawl in and scare it with my headlight.

Congratulations on the new buy, it will match the Pilot leds colour temp Extreme vision is in the market from quite some time. 550 bucks for a single is too much. I had bought a pair for some 800 bucks couple of months back.

Damn I've spent around 700 bucks for headlights till now. First was a chinese useless one for 300. Then Philips Blue Vision for 300 and now the Premium for 90. Should have waited and invested in something like this. Lesson learnt! Waiting for beam pics.

Remember to drive for at least 40 kms after adding the boric acid powder mix....effects are more at near 500Kms and near 800 to 1000 kms.
I think there is going to be scarcity of boric acid soon
                Good luck.
Am I missing something here ? Are both (acid and powder ) just different names for the same thing ? Please clarify , psr .

Yes both refer to the same thing. Just head to your local chemist(medical store) and ask for it.

OOps . . forgot to mention why I asked it - a long time ago , we used boric powder to ward off ants and termites . Acid would be liquid , right ?

Ah we ve found another application for Boric powder.. But this acid exists in the powder form.

Boric acid, also called hydrogen borate or boracic acid or orthoboric acid or acidum boricum, is a weak acid of boron often used as an antiseptic, insecticide, flame retardant, as a neutron absorber, and as a precursor of other chemical compounds. It exists in the form of colorless crystals or a white powder and dissolves in water.

And does it dissolve in engine oil as well ? Or do we just mix it in oil and stir and leave it to the engine to do the rest ?
You forgot to mention that extended usage for underlined purposes is not recommended .

Read my earlier post ...it will dissolve only in water, and in oil will be suspended as particles to react in the presence of water vapour and form CLS bond with metal surfaces.

Not for prolonged use comes from Wikipedia.
Boric acid - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Based on mammalian median lethal dose (LD50) rating of 2,660 mg/kg body mass, boric acid is poisonous if taken internally or inhaled in large quantities. However, it is generally considered to be not much more toxic than table salt.
Long term exposure to boric acid may be of more concern, causing kidney damage and eventually kidney failure (see links below). It does not appear to be carcinogenic.

Thanks. I'm still experimenting on the headlights so this is one of them. Well matching Pilot lamp would not expect as these are bright but not 4000k!
The single pack had price of 600 bucks and was offered 550. He did not have a twin pack. ONB Plus is around 900 buck a pair. The ONB bulb looks muscular compared to Philips Extreme Vision.
