Check the connector at the RR end, and the starter relay end,and also the main fuse under the seat....for loose contact

Interested to know since Pre-owned Comets are coming up for sale and I am interested...

You get 40 in your ZMA-R in city ? what is your riding style and any mods ?
            Comet:In city <80kmph gives about 31-33kmpl.

            On highway--80-130 gives 28 to 33..

I did a 7000km solo trip in 2 weeks in november last yr . Best was 34kmpl , worst 28kmpl.
            speed maintained 125 to 140kmph.
Its v happy after 6k rpm n no vibes .. typical short stroke.

Spare parts: Online u can get.

ZMa r and R15 yes i get 40 kmpl in the city , enough low end torque to use in the city , no over revvin in lower gears ,
Shift to 5th in like no time , and keep it there most of the time .
And yes , all this in bLr

No mods , all stock . 2nd hand bike ..
Iv added a NGK platinum , new AFilter,
both m45's 275 and 4-18. Valve clearance adjusted to .1 both.
I run the bike a little lean when im in the city . Just lil , not very much.
            Plugs just off chocolate color.
            air pressure --25/33
Oil -Yamalube 20w40 Mineral SG grade on all my bikes , even on the access:-)
Suspension: Added additional spring in the front to reduce it bottoming out.

Bads: COmpared to other bikes , a put off is the vibes on the left rear foot pegs. i ll replace the chain and the sprockets before i go to leh next month .
The chain still is good , but im not happy.

Brakes: rear is sheer nonsense. there for the heck of it.

            Thats about it :-)

The local dealer sourced the parts for me against order. Fixing it was a matter of a few minutes. The brakes are as good as new now!
I find it weird that they sell the oring and dust seal for each piston separately. Spent nearly 800 bucks on stuff that shouldn't cost more than 50 bucks! :/

                Cheers!

Thanks for the info....there was a Comet with 5K on ODO with asking price of 1.2 L...and willing to negotiate...Bike looked very clean and it was 5 yr old...some of my friends told me that the sprocket change comes up about that time and is expensive and spares not available since the Indian front for this bike is no longer manufacturing and selling it......, also some issues with front fork and suspension were there in earlier bikes, along with vibes at higher RPM........so reluctantly walked away from it.

                        • michelin m45s

You are right. I ve noticed some difference pre-and post-tyre change from stock mrf zapper 100/90 to michelin m45. The bike doesnt feel as easy as the mrf zapp.... however,

                          Pros:
                          - No better tyre for dry and wet condition. My zapper would break traction easily in the wet, however, with the M45 you will feel that you are 'actually in the dry road'.
                          - Even, if the front tyre breaks grip....it still skids in a controlled manner... Only yesterday morning, I managed to catch an almost fallen bike on a mudroad leading to the beach.
-You can lean much further than before.... it feels heavier, but still you lean ...

                          Cons:
                          - Feels heavier (I havent measured it on a weigh scale)- I ve compensated by making the suspension 1-step tighter.

                          - You must make room by bending the brake link rod on the right...and a couple of hammer blows on the insides of chain cover (without this mod: while you inspect...you will notice more space, but when you actually ride, the tyre expands on the side because of 70+kg of addditional wt and touches the brakelink rod). Thanks to xbhp folks, I ve made the changes.

                          - off road or muddy road grip is definitely lower than mrf zapper (I think MRF knows Indian Govt better than Michelin). Again, you cant have everything...

Ideally, an M45 at 110/90 will be a great choice (but it is not available...so 120/90 or 4.00in is the next alternative)

Ironically, I got my tyre changed right behind the MRF headquarters !!! I gave away my 4000kms-old zappers for free !!!! Is someone listening @ MRF HQ..... he he....

My opinion: If you have a ZMA and can afford it, go for michelin m45s both front and rear !!!

the M45 has a higher side profile than 100/90 so the bike doesn't lean as well in corners as the tyre increases the height at the rear.
