Mineral oil is good and no doubt. I had used them until I discovered semi-synthetic oil. Have noticed engine smoothness and comparatively less vibrations. I have not gone back since then. They are recommended for bike done >4000kms. You have many brands like Shell, Gulf, Motul, Petronas etc. They range from 400-500 bucks a litre.Last edited by SriramEfunds; 05-19-2011, 04:22 PM.RX100 1996 | Karizma 2004 | Karizma-R 2011 | RXZ 1999 | RX 135 1998 | RX 100 1993 | CBF150 2005 - 2011

When you open the Petrol tank cap you will see a large hole to the left of tank mouth..This is to drain water or other liquid which accidentally comes in to the rim mouth of the Petrol tank .I would suggest you to keep this drain route clean to ensure that during rain or water wash water does not go in to Petrol Tank...
Open the Tank cap and plug the tank mouth with thick clean cloth. Take some water in a beaker or small Vessel and SLOWLY pour this water into the hole you see..you should get water out of the pipe underneath the bike...Repeat process till you get clean water flowing out.
If you are doubtful about pouring from a vessel, then go to a Pharmacy and buy the largest Syringe without needle. Suck water to full into the syringe .Put the syringe tip into the mouth of the hole and empty the water into it by pushing on the syringe...
ALWAYS REMEMBER TO KEEP THE MOUTH ON THE PETROL TANK PLUGGED TIGHT WITH CLEAN CLOTH TO PREVENT WATER FROM GETTING IN.
Thanks a lot for the quick reply.
And there is a cap kind of thingy fixed on the tube on the bottom end. Should the cap be there or removed? Now I am having air lock problems pretty often. The engine switches off in signals and it doesn't turn on until I open the fuel cap and let some air in. Could this tube be a problem?
And my guess would be to remove the cap from the bottom end of the tube. This will let the water flow out instead of trapping it and it will also let some air into the tank. Am i right?

How much is this oil and how often do you change it? How much did you pay for the litre? I used Power1 last month. I had an oil cap leak problem. Had to change the oil cap so got the oil removed in like 200 km. Was shocked to see the oil already so dirty. So changed it to Servo 4T this afternoon.Originally posted by psr View PostI am using Gulf pride 4T plus 20 W 40 with good results.
Did not want to use any flushing agent to clean the engine. So will change the oil again in another 1K km.

I had done only 700 Kms since oil change and when I checked oil for level, Viscosity, and color it was like new...Usually it is necessary to change oil only at 2 to 3 K Kms of running...It all depends on condition of engine and type of riding...the oil should not become dark, and should not feel thin when it is cold...If it is then time to change it..Originally posted by harishsangwan View PostForgot to ask, is it mandatory to change the oil filter every time we change the oil? Also, how exactly do you judge about when an oil change is needed?
In ZMA the oil filter is a metal mesh type and comes out with the oil drain cap...needs no change unless it is damaged. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

There should be no cap at the end of tube,,if it is there please remove it... and flush out the sediments in the tube the way I had suggested.Originally posted by MAXzma View PostThanks a lot for the quick reply.

This is not the reason for the Vapor lock..I had given you a detailed reply with pic in another thread in " Help Me " earlier. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Cost Rs.200/- per 900 ml.and 210/- per liter.Originally posted by MAXzma View PostHow much is this oil and how often do you change it? How much did you pay for the litre? I used Power1 last month. Power 1 is of Castrol make and there had been many complaints of fakes...
Never Ever flush engine , unless you had severe gum formation inside due to bad oil not changed for some time...
Use only JASO MA 2 oils of 20 W 40 gradeWhen Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

I tried dat in vain. The fuel cap thingy rite? I sucked in air through that. Even removed the plastic thingy and still the problem persisted. People said dat the problem could be with the breather tube. It could be blocked with impurities. Now it makes sense. The breather tube is blocked with an air tight cap!!Originally posted by psr View PostThis is not the reason for the Vapor lock..I had given you a detailed reply with pic in another thread in " Help Me " earlier.
How will the air go in. I will go remove it immediately and post the results tomorrow..

Should be around 35-40kmpl. Also I don't understand why people so worried about mileage? Isn't Karizma performance bike?Originally posted by Blumarine005 View PostCan anybody tell me what was the claimed fuel average for the 2005 model Karizma?

I guess it had been wrongly badged as Performance bike..It is basically a commuter/tourer with a relaxed engine ,( 66.2 mm long stroke)with comparatively low compression.....Imagine getting only 17 Bhp from a 223cc.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostShould be around 35-40kmpl. A well maintained ZMA will give 30+ in city and 40+ on the highway...Till 2005 the CDI was more towards performance than FE, so these older bike are likely to give less mileage,(15-20% less) than the later generation....
Some with ZMR have claimed to have achieved even 50 Kms/L in city with sane (< 60Kmph) riding..When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Sir when comparing it with Super bikes,Its not a performance bike,Its a performance bike among Indian made bikes,Just my thought...Originally posted by psr View PostI guess it had been wrongly badged as Performance bike..It is basically a commuter/tourer with a relaxed engine ,( 66.2 mm long stroke)with comparatively low compression.....Imagine getting only 17 Bhp from a 223cc.
+1^^,I had seen svc guys shocked to hear that ZMR is giving him a mileage of 50km/l.Some with ZMR have claimed to have achieved even 50 Kms/L in city with sane (< 60Kmph) riding..

why not?
WHy people worry?Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostShould be around 35-40kmpl. Also I don't understand why people so worried about mileage? Isn't Karizma performance bike?
Would you be ok if the bike gave you 22kmpl and no power output also?
Mileage is necessary to track to know how well your bike is performing ,
If it gives too less.. WHy ? whats the reason..
If too much.. why .. is it running so lean?
Mileage is needed for diagnosis and analyse on how to make it better.
My comet gives better FE than the zma , so where is the zma a performance bike? 17 ps vs 28 ps ?
