There seem to be Rocker arm,Cam and bore Piston problems with ZMA/ZMR.Either the incidences have increased or now with better exposure it is getting identified..Whatever the reason be, present ZMA/ZMR of one year or less seem to have suffered due to poor Material quality.
Whenever a vehicle is to be parked for some time, one of the most important thing to do is to open the spark plug and pour 20ml of engine oil and kick the bike a few times to lubricate the engine. This will prevent rust formation in the bore ,Valves and valve seat etc.,and save it from seizure, and consequently when starting will put less strain on other moving parts.

I cannot comment on the others, but I remember HH advertising about auto cam chain tensioner in ZMR. Can you tell me whether this really works?
Since ZMA has the cam chain tensioner prob., if the part is interchangeable then it might be a big relief!

ZMR's MF Tensioner can be used in ZMA too.I am using it in my bike only 420rs.

bro by looking at your bike pic's i think you have got it painted because in back side cowl some area is looking dark while some are lite or its due to light effect.
Bike is covered with dust and then light effect from Digi Cam.

Blow-by is the major source of contaminants in the engine , including carbon , sulphuric acid etc deadly things for the engine & bearings . Moreover the better lubrication & cushioning effect of the thicker oil on bearings and metal-to-metal contact areas will mean less wear and less metal particles . Less heat stress too . Less degradation owing to lower proportion of viscosity improver additives . All contributing to your oil getting dirty much much slower than the thin oil .
Now every thing is clear,Thanks bro. Very detailed info.

Also keep in mind that while the dirtyness(for want of a better word) of the oil is not evident on inspecting a few drops from the dip-stick , when you drain it at 2k kms , it'll be quite dirty as well viewed as the whole volume .
            Yeah,I didnt thought about it.

            • How much for 2005-2009 ZMAs ?

I have seen few adds in classifieds for ZMAs (all +20K) around my area. What shall be the price guide for 2005 to 2009 Models in Bangalore, assuming 8k usage per annum ? I have seen rather ridiculous pricing here in bangalore (e.g 2006 ZMA for 65k ?) so not sure how much to offer ?

Random manufacturing failures are there in ZMA/ZMR ..just like other bikes....The rocker arm,Cam shaft, bore and Piston are the ones that fail, and after replacement seem to settle down well....My own bike is a pre-owned 2007 model, which I bought in March 2011...I had driven the bike under all conditions,of wet ,dry ,and hot, and faced CDI loose contact, non availability of timely spares, Carb slide getting stuck etc. But with the knowledge I had gained ,was able to help others here ..
Overall the ZMA is a reliable bike with good ergonomics, and performance.I now use it inside City and also for short 200 Kms trips...
You can write to HH expressing what you have gone through ,and make them answerable for the problems you have faced, since it is an Engine problem..

Gulf came up with this particular info much after the oil came to the market , right after HeroHonda started to recommend their oil for 6000kms . Anyway, don't try it .

Try 10 Amps first..if it keeps blowing often switch to 15A though safety will be compromised.
