you can switch to 20w40 mineral which will ensure less heat and good gear shifts. There is also a 15w40 in castrol SS, if you can get a genuine Castrol oil...or there is Shell AX7 10w40 SS which few members have used with good result...or Valvoline 20w40 which I am presently using with good result....or Gulf Pride 20w40 which many have used ,and are using.Originally posted by ryan.virgo View Post

Point noted sir . Actually this compare was done some time back and I didn't post it 'cause I thought I was wrong , but couldn't fathom how . When I saw posts per day falling I decided 'something is better than nothing' and hoped for some replies which would enlighten me . Got both the results - posts came in and the questions in my mind are almost gone ...Originally posted by psr View PostNeither is the Max torque ,the maximum Air Breathing stage, nor is the Max HP....Air breathing is independent of this.
The Rev limiter in ZMA can be due to programmed logic or wave shaping circuit..unless we open one of the module we cannot be sure.
so it is clear power need not mean higher speed .
Power of most automobiles is mentioned as measured at the crank, because it is repeatable...Dyno figures are measured at the wheel.
India has some funny rules applicable from Humans to Automobiles, which makes many design, developer, to confirm to it, to sell the product in the market.
Funny rules ..some time back a person went to court saying one manufacturer's car had H/L stack and wiper stack on different sides when compared to other cars . He wanted the company to do it as per the other cars . He won - at least the 1st time .
Any post abt ZMA are welcomeOriginally posted by Above_All View PostOne friend is transforming his Karizma-R into ZMR . One of big task is Speedometer assembly change .
But today we sucessfully matched the ZMR speedometer to Karizma-R .
Just the RTMI is not working & having issue with the FI light will sort it out later as its night .
Not a big task just 7 wire needs rearranged .
No pics but will capture & post if some one needs & interested .
It took couple of hours as Karizma-R wiring diagram i have is not clear .
Sorry if anyone feels its off topic & not to be posted here .

Above_All, this is a Karizma thread; where else you post modifications of Karizma if not this.
Am using 20W40 now after 10W30 .Originally posted by psr View Postyou can switch to 20w40 mineral which will ensure less heat and good gear shifts. Edit- Power cut time was up so had to post in a jiffy .
My bike got a rebore and am running new piston . At first the oil was 10W30 . @ 400 km I changed it to 20W40 ( Didn't watch the mech taking it - had just asked for an oil change . Also don't hav much free time to DIY ) .
The problem of gear falling to neutral from 1st is really irritating . It has lessened some what after the oil change ...but is still there . And mostly happens at the most inopportune of times . Can anyone tell me why this happens and whether it's avoidable ? I've tried keeping my foot on the gear pedal when in 1st , but the accompanying noise makes one think that the gears are shattering inside !!

Originally posted by kaynmantis View Postinteresting. The whole yard? I mean, including FI & oil cooled?. Or cosmetic only?No , FI part is not yet in consideration . That's why we made changes in wiring to run the Speedometer assembly . Cause with FI things will go more complex in putting sensors in right places & cost will go higher . As just that FI motor costs around 14000/-Originally posted by psr View PostYes the Fi part is what i am very much interested to know...i guess it is only cosmetic since Fi will involve IAT,O2 Lambda sensor,ECU integration along with Fuel pump...and the entire Wire Harness change....
Also sourcing part is big trouble . 70% parts used are from junk yard of accident damaged bikes . Only 30 % of parts which not found in junk yard are ordered from HMC ASC .
After fitting of all i have doubt that the engine will heat too much , if it is then oil cooler would be added .
I haven't got time today , so not visited the garage to check progress . Tomorrow will go & snap pictures of wiring , Speedometer assembly and the junkyard fairing parts . Then will post detail of changes in wiring along the picture .
psr sir i noted that there is a analog to digital speed converter in Karizma to which the speedometer cable in attached & from which wiring are coming out . What is that part is called ? Any idea how much it will cost ? If it would be high would you suggest any other bikes that part which is available at low cost , if budget permit then would make my passion meter to digital soon .

The unit you saw is not Analogue to Digital converter..the unit contains a multipole magnet to which the speedo cable is attached .This rotates at speeds determined by Front wheel rotation and the coil positioned close to it picks up the pulses and conveys it to the circuit inside..just like any speedo the number of rotation and its decoding is typical to the particular bike only.Originally posted by Above_All View Postpsr sir i noted that there is a analog to digital speed converter in Karizma to which the speedometer cable in attached & from which wiring are coming out . It is called Speed Sensor Assembly and part no is 37700-KRY-900.
Since it is Electronic, must cost high...When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Psr'jee , found new 10w30 synthetic oil today .. posted about it in the engine-oils thread , please check it , it's an interesting option ... dunno about performance yet .Originally posted by psr View Postyou can switch to 20w40 mineral which will ensure less heat and good gear shifts ..The 10w or 15 w will give better cold start and acceleration, compared to the 20w..

My bike is near to 14000 kms on odo. And these are the things i am going to change.
1. cone set replacement including fork oil change
2. spark plug
3. Engine oil
4. Air filter
5. And a chain service.
I have some doubts-
? Is the 2011 karizma R Also having the same cone set bearings as that of a splendour or passion
? What is the exact volume of oil to be put on each fork

20W40, which oil are you using?
@ 400 km you did the oil change, ?? Isnt that too early ?

Castrol ActivOriginally posted by ryan.virgo View Post20W40, which oil are you using?

4T SAE 20W40
The color is orengey-red . Hope it's not spurious.
As I had mentioned the engine had gone through a transformation . I'd mentioned it in earlier posts that I'd upped the engine cc . So in my case it is better to be careful . I'll be doing another oil change by @ 900 km .
See the color of the oil .

And this is the oil I used .

Hope your doubts are cleared .sigpic
