  • Hi all
Need one help from ZMA owners. One of my friend having 2010 ZMA R, Actually he is not satisfied with stock headlight since he feels light source is not sufficient. So now he decided to upgrade his headlight. For that we have some queries.
Is it possible to fix HID projector in ZMA and if possible, will it drain battery soon or first we should replace with other battery which is having capable to run projector lamps? (sorry dont know AH of stock battery).
Or just upgrading to 55W will be better solution?
Basically I am a noob in this kind of lights or electrical modification. My friend need to change it in short time before one planned trip.

    Thanks in advance!

Go for 55/60 w halogen it is much simpler to install without any tampering with wiring...upgrading to 9 AH battery will help you have good light out put even at low RPM, otherwise the dtock 6 Amps battery may not be able to supply the rquired Amperes at Low RPM, and if you ride long time more than 2 hrs., in night battery may not charge fully, with 50/60 watts halogen.

If you are in love with ZMA-R then only you should buy it. Otherwise at present scenario more practical option is P220.

The best thing about ZMA-R is the engine & ride comfort though its not a revv happy engine.I have a 3 month old ZMA-R ; the engine black color coating is peeling off and the ASS is very poor with HERO; service guys took almost one month to change one alloy rim.

On the other hand you can play with P220 to the extreme.

I am having a 2010 ZMA R and I ditched the 7AH battery for a 9AH battery and have put in a 55/60 W halogen bulb with relay . Now , nearly 4500 km after the change , I'm satisfied (although it could've been better) with the light .
In case you're going for a HID setup , make sure that the color temp. is within 4300k . Also it's way costlier than a 55/60W swap ( even considering the cost of the relay) .
Osram night breaker is supposedly very good , but the price is too steep !!

Whichever bike you buy, first keep aside the pros and cons.
Think for a second- which bike your heart needs/ which one you Yourself love to own.
              Just GO for it.

well if u want ur expense to be lower than 1k thn go for
                H4 60/55w Philips Extreme Vision-with fitting Rs850 u can bargain o this
                9smd led pilots- rs 220
Philips premium is an average option too.
if u want to go fro branded stuff than Philips 5W 4000K-pilot lamps(which i find a waste)

if u want to go for hid try to get 55w H4 Bi xenon its a huge pinch to pocket but yes if u want to plonk it than the call is yours.

note: most important is it is advisable to get a 9 amp amaron battery costing Rs 1450 and the cost of fitting it may vary from 100-200

and yes its advisable to get halogen bulbs rather than hid as its a problem with hid bcoz of the white throw of light , or get one with a tinge of yellow for proper vision,

                • Replaced my speedo cable, both inner and outer total cost was 73/-.
And there isnt any separate model for each bike, the ZMA uses the old splendor model cable, part number number 44830KRY900S. The quality difference from the old one was spot on, this part in the new one i bought was made of aluminium.

                    • Electrical s are a mess in my bike . Day before yesterday bikes digital display was blinking and the tacho and speedo metere were not working. Yesterday took to SVC those !@#$%^ idiots made deep scratches all over the bike. And yet the problem was there today morning. So today evening I stripped down the bike and checked all wiring. And replaced a blown fuse.

It seems ok as of now. I am really fed up with service and I am planning to sell my bike because these things are really getting on my nerves.

AFAIK wiring isnt included in the warranty, so the best thing to do is get the whole meter assembly replaced under warranty, you'll atleast get some peace of mind. Either go through the trouble of inspecting the entire wiring with the help of a multimeter else spend some moolah and replace the wiring kit.

osram is a very good option and proper for touring while frankly i dont like hid much bcoz of the xtra throw which makes the otherside driver blind eye so a risk for me rather plus a lot of negative on hid so better go with osram as it is more than enough for your travel with a good 9 amp battery
i believe there is thread which was shared pointing out the cons of hid hope some1 shares it with you if any1 has the link

                          • I am really having big problem of cross winds on highways. Most of the time just getting 60km speed.

And when there is strong cross winds. I am dragged to another side of the road. Does any budy facec same problem?

Anybudy has solution for this problem? I have even removed bottom fairing still problem exists
