Check if the rim is bent, check if cone set is gone kaput, check if the front tyre has worn out unevenly, and check if wheel bearings are gone.

To check wheel bearings, lift the front wheel up and rotate it and check for any vibes on forks near the front wheel axle. If bearings are good wheel turns very smoothly and there will be no vibes in forks. If wheels rotates slowly and with vibes to forks, then the bearings are gone.

+ check air pressure....If your bike stands under the Sun and rain most of the time, bad cone set is most probably the culprit.

      • Fellow ZMA owners, need your help. Once by bike went through a big pothole at speed around 40kmph. Since then some weird sort of problem started appearing in my bike. Most of the time my bike is normal, but sometimes when i go through any uneven surface, bike startes going haywire (not completely haywire, but i feel the bike wants to go its own way). I feeling is as if the tire got punctured. The problem would dissappear if the stop the bike for few seconds. Told the service center guys and they checked for wheel alignment on both front and rear and they say its fine. I too checked if there is any bend on the rims, but nothing seems to be visible. Please suggest on what could be the culprit here. I though it could be an issue with the T-cone, but mechanics say that may not be the reason. Please help me guys

Change cone set. Even if the mechanic says everything is fine, insist changing the cone set (called ball races kit). 500 rupees including labor.

Bearings by SKF are very good items than the OEM ones.
            Psr sir,Whats your opinion?

Yes SKF is the first preference in bearings.

                    • A question to all those who have fixed an amaron 9ah battery, a 55/60w bulb and dual horns in their ZMAs..does your headlight flickers when u press the horn with the brake light on (brake pedal/lever pressed)? with indicators off though! this is the first time for me with a 9ah battery in my zma and it does flickers/dims a bit when I press the horn in the above condition. but not as evident as it does with a 6ah one. both the tail bulbs are 5/10w and the parking lights are LED ones..pl clarify!

At night with head light beam on and idling, if I use the brake and the twin brake lights light up, I do see dimming of Head lights...I have 2 nos of horns of 2 Amperes each, and when i use it also the same thing happens. when the turn indicators work also this happens...but all at idling RPM of 1250.If I am driving and RPM is above 2.5 K then no dimming under any circumstance......

                        • My ZMA-R completed 1 year

                          11000kms done
                          60/55w Philips Xtreme vision
                          Philips T10 LED pilot
                          M45
                          9ah Amaron
                          Carb slide mod

                          Notes:-

I whole heartedly enjoyed every moment from the day one. Yeah! I had hiccups too, that had come as an opportunity to learn about the bike. Not very often had a chance to learn about my earlier 4 joke Oops! 4 stroke Unicorn however, ZMA-R was quite interesting and fell in love with the bike. I would still rate myself a newbie when it comes to ZMA as there is alot to learn about.

I have done many long trips till date and couple of times had issues too. With careful introspection and learning to live with it had taken my passion to next level. When it comes to ZMA, it is always a tourer bike and hardly used for city commuting.

Viberations were minimal, haven't noticed any knocking yet. Pulls out clean and always game for long ride. There is one drawback when you do many long rides, that you'll start craving for more speed. But always felt happy to ride ZMA, knowing what my bike can do.

Credit goes to PSR Sir for all the guidance even before purchasing the bike. Word 'Thanks' will look mere in front of you Sir for the support I've been enjoying all the way beyond ZMA.

                          Issues faced and learnings:-

                          1. Carb slide stuck - Remedy - open the air flow inlet and release the slide gently. You can also try tapping on the side of the carb body and try revving to see if the RPM moves up.

                          2. CDI loose connection:- Open the Unit and tighten the contact pins and fit back.

                          3. Heat sink behind RR unit:- Replaced the existing one with bigger size (Phanikar.. I remember) to for quick heat decipation from RR unit.

                          4. Carb slide mod:- I would not personally suggest and discuss as it is very complex. The result is better throttle response.

                          Looking ahead:-

What tyres should I use after M45 for the rear? I'm still on the hunt to find a good replacement. Already stocked up Air filter, Chain sprocket, mirrors, clutch plates and cables (clutch and accelerator) for future. Sorry If I've been too cautious, can't help from the habbit of a 2 stroker where parts don't come easy.

Engine Oil, I'm still experimenting with various brand. So far Motul 3000T Mineral been good and now running on Shell AX7 SS, is doing a decent job.

Please bear with my long short-essay.

                            • Thanks alot PSR Sir..Yes as you said, the diming characteristics of the headlight disappears as the rpm builds up!

@Sriram: congrats anna..enjoy the ride as it enjoys it's rider..even mine turned 1 couple of weeks back. living happily with some niggles but didn't bother..Yes as u said ZMA took even me to the next level of touring and i'm thoroughly enjoying it...same pinch..me too hunting for good rubbers both front and back..

No problems, if by chance the oil is filled in excess then it'll overflow via the engine breather tube and drain via the air filter box.

                                Niggles are common,
                                1. Sometimes the left park light flickers.
                                2. Sometimes the horn fails to work.
                                3. Sometimes when I switch on the headlight while riding hard, a very small dip in performance is felt momentarily.

But the above issues just come and go, they just last a few mins and dissappear without any trace. Me still running/abusing the stock battery. Now I'm trying to test the limits of the battery, so even after the bikes been dead for a week, I just use the self starter, and I dont release it untill the engine idles.

                                @All,
Is it acceptable to replace one tyre at a time or is it mandatory to replace both at a time??? Im talking along the lines of braking effficiency.
