My bad to open the petrol bleed screw and got confused about it all.

    • Some one dropped my ride, while it was parked in the college parking lot. I believe the arsehole leaned onto my bike when it was on side stand, and resulted in him and my bike falling on the opp side. Anyways thanks to the crashguard, nothing serious happened, brake lever scraped, handle weight scraped, crash guard severely scraped, and RVM too scraped, and theres also a 4~5 inch long scratch on the fairing. But anyways am in a way grateful since he had the decency to pick it up. This is the 3rd time my bikes been dropped. And yet no severe damages, HECK!!! I still remember the mech and my friend telling me to keep the engine cowl cause the bike wont look anygood without it. BUT! guess what, I saved 2250*3= 6750/- by investing 550/- for the crash guard and sacrificing abit on looks.

      • My Karizma experience.. and I need some suggestions on maintainance

        Hello fellows,

First of all, it really feels good to find a place like this to share and ask about bikes. I am from Goa.

Karizma R is my 1st bike. I purchased it in September 2008. Bike has done 28500km + about 1000km with-out speedo cable. Ill share my experience with the bike, the crashes and I got lot of questions regarding maintenance.

This bike is a multi-purpose bike, I have used it on all terrains, roads, where-ever. Never misused the engine of bike in the sense by overloading it. Most comfortable and I have'nt had any complains till today, except for the hero-honda service center guys which employs crap mechanics who don't have the ability to apply their mind when doing work. The servicing fellow dropped my bike when taking for servicing into their garage and it was a heart-break feeling to see him fall, however it was then that I realized how strong the bike was with-out the crash guard because there was no damage to be seen! I have had 2 crashes. First time a cat came on road and I braked and bike fell on road on LHS side and skidded away. The 2nd time 1 car banged from LHS. My experience tells that this bike will throw you off immediately in-case of side impact. In case bike crashes and slides (falls horizontal) on road it will not drag you along with it, you will remain at a place and the bike will go on.. Thanks to the sidelights which I believe take onto the impact keeping your legs safe. The second crash was very deadly in the sense the car went over my engine guard after the bike fell. However I was thrown off the bike far away. Luckily.

Ok, this happened in Jan 2012 and since then untill 1st Jan 2013 the bike was off, I used to start it once in 3 months, thats it. Reason was that I want getting enough time due to my studies and had shortage of cash to repair the broken fibers. Last week of Dec 2012 I took the bike (pushed it, as it would'nt start) to a mechanic who just changed the oil and tightened chain, changed brake liner and said that the bike's engine was in top condition. Over the period Jan-Dec 2012, I purchased the following parts and each of it is assembled and fixed by me personally. On my last tour we were at a lake and there was no electricity there, I kept my headlight on for 2-3 hours for 3 nights and the battery got useless since then. I have changed the foll:-
1)handle bar *I donot know how to fix in those weight rods. Just help me on this one!
        2)clutch lever
        3)clutch & 2*Acc. cables
        4)Fr. LHS cowl
        5)Fr.center piece
        6)Fr. Headlight assy
        7)wind screen
8)Engine guard with metal and plastic cover.
        9) silercer palte
        10)gear pedal
        11)Rear LHS sidelight
        12)spark plug
        13)battery 7AH tata green
        14)speedo cable
        15)air filter

Now I believe my front fairing/fiber is in perfect condition. However there is oil leaking from front LHS fork. I suspect either bend/oil seal damage.
So, by next month I am planning to claim insurance for the shocks pipes, steering stem, mudguard, and all the fiber items after the fuel tank ie:-fiber on either side of leg and behind. The holders are broken and its all a mess. However I tried to fix it my way, posting few pics:-

I am getting a decent mileage of 43+. Acceleration is as sweet as before, as in I get the push feeling ...

        So my questions are:-
        1) how do i fix weight rods into the handle bar?
        2) what other maintenance work do I do? I have absolutely no faith in hero-honda staff. Please suggest me the most basic things to do for good maintenance.
        3) What do you think is the status of my tires?Click image for larger version

        4) I want to upgrade rear tires to with-tube/tubeless 110 or 120, with out removing chain cover what do you suggest?

        5) what is advantage of having chain cover on the bike?
        6) want to upgrade to brighter head lights pls suggest.
        7) which is decent horn? I had bosch, but a year since they were off, now they are giving weird sounds.
        8) my disc brake is not at all good, what must be the issue? the mechanic said the pads are good, however the effect of braking is not at all close to what an yamaha-FZ disc brake gives. i checked the level of liquid near the brake leaver, its normal.
        9) how do i tune these shock, i heard that if you turn it you can adjust it, what is the concept exactly, should I interfere?

        10) I want to paint the engine black and the shocks above to red again. Also, I want to wax / teflon coat engine / body, is it good now? Basically I want to get the shine on the fuel tank back, it got few minor scratches. Pls comment

        Thank you.

        • Every morning when i start my ride, then realize bike is not going on. Like somebody pull my bike at back side even when i increasing accelerator it is goes down. Like engine will goes to stop but it did not.
After 4-5 kms ride, this problem automatically over come with sudden high acceleration.
Anybody help me out of this.

Did you noticed two round steel clips when you removed the weights from inside the handle bar pipes and those clips are independent ones that is you can take them apart a separate piece, if you have seen them then its easy. There are two holes same like the holes for the stopper for switch assembly in the handle bar made exactly near to the end of the handles, if you care fully observe I suppose you can find a way to fix them neatly and you should buy a rubber bush from the showroom for each clip I think there is for of them, its a tricky thing but manageable. I did this long time ago on my classic CBZ
You better change those tires, they must have become extremely slippery by now plus you dont want to get a puncture in no mans land

If I may ask you how much did you paid for the headlight assy

I get a similar issue when the bike is not used for more than 2-3 days. Idling for a few minutes is required to bring the bike back to normal!

The reason why you get this is, there is something called operating temperature at which the engine oil performs normal. Even I would get the same feeling as you guys do in the morning or taking out after a couple of days. After say 3-5kms, I notice some smooth and easy acceleration, till then I don't go past 4k RPM.

One good advice that I remember from 2T gurus for engine longivity and health , 'Never rip your bike until it attains the operating temperature.'

                            • Finally got my speedometer fixed this weekend. Got it done at Popular Instruments, Shivaji Nagar. He told me water had entered and some of the parts had gone. He took around 3 hours to diagnose and fix everything. He charged 800 bucks. He has changed the parts found in the attached image. Have no clue what they are! But finally everything is working fine so a happy me!

He took around 3 hours to diagnose and fix everything. He charged 800 bucks. He has changed the parts found in the attached image. Have no clue what they are! But finally everything is working fine so a happy me!
Couple of resistors and capacitors I suppose. They might have been damaged by the presence of water. So the guy removed them.

Guys a problem with my bike. Its with the neutral light. The neutral light comes on when riding in any gear whenever I press the clutch. But it goes of when I release the clutch lever. Otherwise it is working fine. Please help.
