No actually a resistor blew up.

I need to make a more isolated circuit. with LM317 so the voltage will stay at 12 V so the timer and other electronics will work accordingly.

      • Re: Brake Oil

Guys, what would be the ideal mileage for changing the brake oil. currently my bike has run 13K kms and when i keep my bike straight, it is approx at half mark.
Also another noobish question, does ZMA R come with DOT 4 or DOT 3 as standard. And is there a way of differentiating looking at the colour or something.

I would not go by the mileage for changing the brake oil but dip in fluid level. Also, I'm not sure if there is any specific odo after we need to change.

Use DOT4 brake fluid for better performance. Don't go by color but read the details before you buy it. Ask the service guys to drain out the existing oil and fill with DOT4 while you are present. Simple!

I use DOT4 by Motul and it is colorless.

When the brake fluid level comes near to LOWER mark, head for Changing/Refilling it. Half mark level is ok. I don't think Odometer reading has to do anything with it. Level of fluid depends on pad wear or leakage, if any.

Dont know which comes as standard.
While Changing the fluid, pick anyone from DOT3 or DOT4. Never mix them.

DOT 4 is clear and DOT 3 is Pinkish Red.
@ ALL ...Change brake fluid every 15,000 Kms or 2 years which ever is earlier.

Any specific reason for changing the fluid for that specific kms/years?

                        +1 on the oil colours.

I recently flushed out old oil and refilled it with DOT 4 (clear) as the brake had lost its bite & sometimes it use to lock up the wheel & sometime work fine. Odo reading 24,864/- when changed, will reach silver jubilee soon

                        • @psr, how is the feedback of the Valvoline 4T Champ you are using in Karizma? Is it holding well after 1000 kms or 1500 kms? Two of my ZMR friends here are in dilemma as to which one they for out of Elf Motogold, Valvoline, and Shell AX7. They have been using Honda 20w40 happily all these days. And now, the Honda oil is gone from the market. We need a reliable oil that can last for 2500-3000 kms.

Shell AX7 is too costly at 340 rupees.

The Valvoline 4T Champ 20w40 is a very good oil. I changed it at 1,750 Kms of use when it had become brownish,+ the fact I wanted to test the Valvoline 10w30 synth(320/- only) .The 20w40 holds good till 1,500 Kms in color..Even at the time of changing I had no,... ride,FE ,noise ,or any other issue....there is also a 10w40 synth in Valvoline if you want to use.
The shell AX7 SS 10w40 is also a good oil to use,and had withstood well in a 1,800 Kms tour + another 1,000 odd Kms before change.

Thanks all for your responses. thought of changing the brake oil now, but will do it in few days. Gave the bike to ASC for changing the ball racer kit (as suggested by psr sir few days back). Also the front mud gaurd on my bike got cracked, and the left side cowl also got broken from the inside near the holding area. The ASC where i gave my bike now doesnt have the spares. Need to check from other stores on the availability. Can someone throw some light on price of the front mudguard

                              • Hi Everyone,

In Karzma -R whats the max speed limit for each gear?

Another question, is that my battery seems to have become weak. I am not able to button start after the bike has been parked for 2-3 hours.

And am surprised this has happened immediately after the 3rd free service, did they skip checking the battery ?
