  • Ok, so my bike goes for its routine overhaul session. (I have decided to do it every 10-12k kms depending on usage)

    ODO - ~23k kms

List of parts to be replaced/cleaned (old ones will go as spares)
    1. Spark plug.
    2. Clutch cable.
    3. Accelerator cables A and B.
    4. Injector cleaning.
    5. Sprockets cleaning.
    6. Air filter cleaning. (replaced 5k kms ago)
    7. Replacing brake fluid, DOT4 in both brakes.
    8. OEM N250R front pads as spare. Current ones good for at least 3-4k more kms.
    9. Mobil1 10w40 FS.
    10. Vibrations to be dampened using rubber bush(es) and double sided tape wherever possible.

Cost me 3300 rupees including labor. HMC services aren't getting cheaper at all.
    Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
Because everyone who passes, isn't a martyr!

Reason i Google mapped was because the RTR registered over a hundred kms more on the odo. And i needed a confirmation on how many kms there actually were before making conclusions.

And on further inspection it seems I've lost one of the Allen key bolts on the brass thingi at the tip of the muffler.

Oh. And yeah now running on 5100 15W50.

You can check the accuracy of the speedo by using GPS speedometer in your mobile . I think you already have downloaded that app . Trip meters are also available .

I had factory flashed my phone before the trip, reason being we needed max battery backup. Since we had no clue about the route, my phone was our last hope as a GPS unit to get home.

Thats one great information from you Sir, thank you for it, now I know never to trust any sort of map anywhere no matter whose it is. But since you are so definite about the Google's inaccuracy will you be kind enough to enlighten us ignorant guys to whome to trust or where to go to get the most accurate of sites or Map providers to get the real information.

I am not disputing the accuracy of google maps. But the method he portrayed to display the accuracy/inaccuracy of the distance traveled, and also comparing it with a speedo reading of a different bike is what i meant. Had it been a GPS trail of the total distance traveled would have given a more accurate figure.

P.S: Set the destinations(prior to the ride) on Gmaps and travel along the same route, finish the ride and see the readings. You will have the answer.

              • Did a coastal trip of 600kms in two days. I DEFINITELY have no regrets buying this bike. Why? I tasted life @100kmph and it was fantastic. I held 100-115 on the fourways and it was absolutely effortless (Though trying anything beyond 120 is useless ). The cold climate made sure of no heating business. The idle rpm didn't fluctuate much (about 100rpm). Only small niggle is that the visor makes a slight vib noise around 5k rpm (around 80kmph).

PS: Still running stock. I wonder how it would be if I shifted to 10W40!

                • ^ Wonderful Harish. I hope you had a fantastic run through the SH route through Tranquebar. Here is my chance to ask (which I hate actually), What's the mileage it returned? (lol....) I have a solution for visor rattle. Take some double side tape and stick it between the visor and speedo box contact. Why double side tape? I find it useful as it sticks both on to the visor and speedo box and it's spongy material (somewhat) helps in getting the vibration minimized if not zero it down. Still confused? let's meet !

Yes sri the tour was wonderful. The riding part was more fun than the visiting part. Got to know my bike's characteristics better now. The bike returned 37.33. Am more than happy. And yeah ashwin too suggested to do the double sided tape job. Will work on that. Luck seems to have run out badly now sri. For two more months, I will have tons of college work continuously. Even visiting home (read riding zma) is less probable. I'll try to make it to some G2G.

And another important thing. The studs on the steering column are showing rust signs. Should have noticed while delivery. Is it worth getting it replaced? I mean I'm worried the HH service guys will screw things up while getting it replaced and assembling the column.

                      • Today while riding to work after 38kms my bike stopped. Using the choke, button, kick did not help. Then i switched it off opened the tank lid and shook it a little turned the ignition on and it started. Till the next 6 kms there were no problems.

Any idea why this happens? Its the 2nd time in one year that I have faced this. Is it the vacuum build up in the tank ? I was under the impression this happens when the bike is sitting idle for some period like a couple of days..

And my granny scratched my tank, seriously pissed. Have decided to sell ZMA and get FZ, at least in that when someone scratches tank i can just replace the respective side plastic instead of considering repainting like in ZMA's case.

                            • Hey Guys,

I need some help regarding the rear tyre for my Karizma -06.
In the front I have a tubeless MRF which comes stock with the ZMR. I had changed my front Rim also to the ZMR Rim. The tyre is fairly new.

In the rear I have 120/90 V-Rubber. Pathetic tyre. Too heavy and too hard. I have somehow managed to live with this tyre for the last 4 years and around 18K Kms. But I cannot take it anymore. This tyre now provides such less grip that I get scared even while riding my bike on a straight line. Please suggest me a new tyre. I am looking for 110 section Tubeless tyre. My priority is Grip which means it should be soft compound tyre.
I have a average running of around 4K kms in a year and that to mostly in city so I am not bothered about the life of the tyre much. Even if it last around 12K I am fine, its just that the grip should not reduce so much as the tyre gets old.

I am ready to spend 3-4K.

Also any better suggestions for the front tyre. I might get that also changed if something better is available in the market.

                              Thanks Guys.
I plan to get this change done this weekend so please help me.

Vapor lock! Yes, vacuum kind of a situation. Open the lid for 10 sec and you're good to go.
