From last few days whenever I start my bike via self starter, the trip meter and clock resets, No matter if engine is cold or hot. I have filled distilled water recently and used the bike for few hundred kilometers to allow it to charge fully but the problem is still there.
Bike is taking self though cranking is little slow along with trip/clock resetting.
Battery is stock - Amco brand which is now four years old. Over 16,000 KM on odo
What you guys suggest? Should I replace it now or use it until it dies permanently. What should be the perfect replacement? New Amco battery is 700 rupees and Exide is 1250 rupees. I am thinking of getting Amco battery!"Biking is Divine"

Both are good. Check which brand is giving better replacement warranty and then decideOriginally posted by anmol_1990 View Postnever heard of this brand? Here in Delhi I am getting Exide and amco.
P. S.- in case you go for amco, dont expect it to last as long as your stock amco did

Purchase chain sprocket @950 and also bought clutch plate for friend Rs1425,new price is Rs 1485. I'm using Honda unicorn clutch plate worth Rs 500 still no issue total Km run after changing clutch plate is 3000 Km.
Suggestion Need:
1- Which black should be used for painting a fuel tank.
2- Soon raining season is coming, so need to cover my engine.Last edited by NIGHTMARE; 03-08-2013, 05:48 PM.

Got Exide Xtreme zero maintenance battery for Rs. 1200 after returning the old battery. Warranty period is 18 months. Self starter is now firing the engine with just a notch of the starter button.
The guy checked my old battery by shorting both terminals using a wire and water was coming out of two cells which means two cells are not working.
I was looking for Amco but was not available anywhere near my area.
Now this battery is labelled as zero maintenance and the person told me that there is no need to add water ever in this battery unlike the stock amco battery. Is this true? Also he has not connected the overflow pipe with this battery stating that battery is sealed?

had replaced oversize piston with new block piston kit,was heating even after 1000km(had checked temprature by infrared gun it was showing 100deg at block and 115~120 at head after 10km off highway commute)
got piston block kit at Rs.3250 its SAL made couldn't source usha make piston.
now completed 130km on new block kit,and maintaining run-in procedure.
daily keep reading of block, crankcase cylinder head temprature by infrared gun which is available in our office
.when it was new it was show around 100~at block and 110deg at head, after 10km of highway commuting.how much temp.should be perfect?PSR sir please gain our knowledge
how much km does required to set piston block properly?Last edited by Ramborider; 03-08-2013, 09:37 PM.

I have installed a similar battery in my Dio a few months ago. This battery is labelled as zero maintenance, but it is different from the other 'maintenance free' types (i.e. vrla, amaron etc..) Though you do not need to top up the water, there is a flap/cap you need to open that exposes the water 'inlet' unlike the individual caps on cells in regular batteries. And if you read the manual/booklet that came with the battery there will be a mention of topping up water.Originally posted by anmol_1990 View Post

BUT... read this Welcome to Exide Reachout
It mentions that 'No Topping-up within Warranty period under normal running conditions'. The reason i picked this battery was, I dint have the time to run to a amaron dealer( the one close to my house dint have stock) and the exide dealer told me that the 'totally MF batteries from exide wont fit the old model dio (that they are smaller and will rattle in the batt compartment')
So i chose this battery, and it has been 6 months now, and i haven't topped water and i always use the electric start and never had any issues(though six months is less to make a conclusion/statement on the battery). But since this has a 3 yr warranty (or was it 2
- should check the booklet), i am not complaining!
And yes there is NO breather tube for this battery and it is 'sealed'

Temperature upto 120 C on head on new bore & piston is seen, since the ZMA is Air Cooled engine..On LC it is normally kept at 85 to 90 C...Originally posted by Ramborider View Posthad replaced oversize piston with new block piston kit,was heating even after 1000km(had checked temprature by infrared gun it was showing 100deg at block and 115~120 at head after 10km off highway commute)

For run in ....upto 500 Kms do not exceed 5,000 RPM, and vary it ..ie., do not try to cruise at same RPM for periods longer than 5 Minutes..
After 500 to 1,000 Kms do not exceed 6,000 RPM. again keep varying the RPM...
You should not accelerate suddenly, and ride , without first warming up the engine. Most problems and wear occurs when owners open throttle even before warming up the engine, and giving the engine oil ,time to circulate and lube moving parts...This warming up of engine with 1 ~ 2 minutes idling after start is to be observed throughout the life of any IC engine.
Accelerating gradually rather than sudden opening of throttle nearly DOUBLES engine life...When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Me not an expertOriginally posted by anmol_1990 View PostIm too confused regarding this...experts pls chip in
, but still - nothing to be confused, to keep it simple (as per exide recommendation) :
1. It doesn't need regular water top up's.
2. There is no breather pipe (or the overflow pipe as you call it) - (it has a outlet were a breather pipe is usually connected, but it is closed and only to be opened while charging)
To have piece of mind, just get the battery checked at the dealer every 6 months.

Changed my Zen's engine oil with 'Elf Super HDB Turbo'. It worked wonders, better acceleration off idle, and better roll on acceleration as well. In short 1.3k well spent.
But wait, my Zen needs only 3.7Lts, but this is a 5L can, so would'nt the remaining 1.3L oil go to waste?
Nope! Poured it in my ZMA, and did a test ride of 30.2Kms in mixed conditions to see if the clutch slipped or anything, the results were shocking, but since its recommended to give a final verdit on oils only after riding for atleast a few hundred kms to break them in. I will post my 250kms observation in a few days.
Motorcycling Experience:
2000 ~ 2017 Y2K Kinetic Zoom (Disposed at 15k)
2011 ~ 2015 Hero Honda Karizma R (Sold at 56.5k)
2013 ~ 2014 Bajaj Discover 100 4G (Sold at 16.5k)
2015 ~ 2017 TVS Wego (Totaled at 18k)
2015 - Bajaj Pulsar 220F (Currently 31k) < Garage Queen!
2017 - Bajaj CT100B (Currently 21k) < 'Golden Quadrilateral' Runner!
The Ride was Good, but Life is short, spend it Wisely!
Adios Comrades!
