      Hi Friends,

Today I am proud to announce that I am an owner of Yamaha R15, after lots of research to choose between ZMA and R15 we at last decided to pick R15
Booked the bike on 29th June at Pinache Yamaha Showroom in Indiranagar, Bangalore, I choose Yamaha finance (Bushan Finance) they quoted 13%pa rate of interest for 36 Months. Downpayment 44600 was paid. Submitted all the required proofs and documents and got the Fianance approved today afternoon.
There were two Blue colored Bike which came from Nelamangala Yamaha Gowdown today afternoon, Went to showroom at 4PM and picked up the bike and reached my home at hosur after a safe drive.

Congratulations on getting the R15. I am sure, like me, many would want to know what made you choose the R15 over, say, the new 2009 P220 DTS-i.

Inspite being aware of comparisons of R15 and ZMA bikes v r still not able to choose between.
          1) ZMA is almost 8yrs old in market still has got good reputation - best in touring, handling and reliable, worth for money,
          2) R15 - new in market, Sports machine, best in touring, handling, was not sure if it worth for 1L.

I wanted Bike to be powerful when performed performance upgrades
My plans is to keep the bike for at least 5 yrs, expecting trouble free bike.

          Hence Decided for R15.

          • R15 Gear Lever position

My R15 Gear Lever seems to be positioned higher than Footrest, I should actually keep my leg in air instead of on footrest to shift lower gears. Is that normal or we can decrease the gear lever position ????

Guys I would also like to get the Teflon coat done on my new bike, Where in Bangalore would the best place for teflon coating, does any YAS does this, I have not check with Pinache Yamaha SS. Is Teflon coating really required for new bike or do I need to do that after few months ??

            • Sad Service!!!!!!!!!!!

              Hey guys,

I had the 5th service done on my bike this week at Orion and i must say that its the worst place to be. Few details on my service @ 8500km:

              Oil Changed
              Coolant Filled
              Normal services carried.

I had 2 issues i told them to check. One being a noise form the chain which i guessed could be because my bike got wet in the rain. The other being a screeching noise from the rear disc when i apply the brakes. The guy who checked my bike told that it needs cleaning and that should be fine. I was told to come at 4 to pick my bike.

reaching the place at 5 (1 hour after the so mentioned time) my bike was kept out with still in the same condition. When asked the chap, he told that only washin was to be done. waiting for an hour later i got my bike much to the frustration, i was shocked to see that the 2 complaints i told him was not fixed.

The bike was smooth though but i still get a sound from near the chain when i ride the bike. The sound is like "tic tic" and kinda becomes loud when i go faster. I am not sure what exactly the problem is. the other being the rear disc. I had changed the raer disc pads during my 4th service and the pads are still in good shape but for some reason this noise is really bad. the minute i press the brakes the screech is so loud. i am now not using my bike for this reason.

I had mentioned this issue in the forum and was suggested to clean the disc. i tried everything i can but it still exists.

Please someone help me fix this issue. also, all the bangaloreans out there, could you suggest me a better service centre for R15's.

              Cheers,

              V

The top speed with a speed gun is 130.2kmph. Joel had done this speedcheck, as far as I remember, so I dont know rpm and gear. On the speedo I have myself done 144-146kmph at about 10,000rpm in 6th gear.

Congrats for your bike...!! Welcome to the club. A I dont think you get any accessories with the bike. Also the manual is a normal booklet, no CDs or stuff. You should get the manual, RC receipt (as the smart card comes after 1 week), tax token and insurance papers when registration is completed.

As for the gear lever, yes, it is adjustable. Take it to your svc and they'll do it for you.

Hi Vijith! As far as I can tell, you'll have to check a few things. First the chain noise may be because of a tight chain (svc mechs tend to do this, they dont adjust it within the recommended freeplay), or inadequate lubing or worse- wheel alignment might be incorrect. Check the chain pullers. They are the two comma shaped pieces at the rear axle. See if the numbering matches on both sides. If not that is the culprit. It will cause chain as well as disc noise. If noise still persistes, then I'd suggest opening the disc brake assembly and cleaning. I am yet to open my rear brake assembly, but when I do I'll post pictures......

Otherwise I saw an ad in Bike India about a TVS brake cleaner solution. Its about Rs. 290, and that cleans the brake pads as well as the disc, eliminates noise, etc...... You might want to try that.....
                You get the point?? :D

                    • @ Vinaymahesh- Hmmm... Did you show the bike to the svc?
And you've done the 1st service (engine oil change, oil filter change) right? I dunno man, cant understand without riding the bike....

@ all- opened up the rear brake assembly today and cleaned. Contrary to what I thought the rear brake pads are still great.... cleaned them and the housing assembly of brake dust and slush and now all weird noises are gone. Even the rear wheel feels more free now (i.e. when I turn it by hand). Pictures coming up soon.....

                      EDIT: Pics:

My bike had a vibration in foot pegs, which was eliminated by cleaning the front sprocket.
