As for the Avenger coil, part number is DV111005 and it is from the Avenger 180 (not the 200 or 220). It is a direct fit to the P200's wiring, except the neutral wire for which a little jugaad has to be done. Once the Avy coil is installed there will be no issues in the lighting or the coil/battery.

The 200 runs the bulb right off the alternator coil. So you can put the 55W bulb with no effect on the battery or coil. The 55W is better than the stock 35W bulb on the original coil; only a lag will appear between low and high beam. I hope your electricals are unmodified and no HID is installed?Originally posted by Akel View Post

So what exactly am I supposed to do now ???
.......change to avenger 180's coil or stay with the stock provided in 200 ??? and no modifications to electrical setup have been done......no HID installed........this Osram H4 55W bulb is my first electrical modification from the stock 35W.......

If you have only the bulb and not the coil, install the bulb. Nothing will happen to the electricals. You will get better lighting than the 35W bulb. But there will be a lag b/w low and high beam.Originally posted by Akel View PostHey thanks for that info !

When you get the coil, install it and get much better light, also that will remove the lag between low and high beam.
If you don't get the coil, keep the 55W bulb installed anyway. Does not affect anything.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

Clear !
Thanks for making it crystal clear.......if I get the coil its well and good, if not no issues......I think I'll get the coil.......I inquired at the bajaj spares and they said avenger 180's stator plate or coil is gonna cost around Rs.1000.....so I'll get it but not very soon.....! Just for timepass:
I think the P200 is the only Pulsar that never had any UG versions...all others i.e 135LS, 150,180 and 220 have had newer versions released at some point or the other...
So, it had no versions, but was discontinued.

Help needed!!
I am posting on this thread after a real long time. Today evening, my Pulsar 200 got a thorough wash, after which, when I cranked the engine, there was an odd sound, like steel plate brushing against steel. The local mechanic told me that water has entered the CDI. Then he proceeded to clean the CDI with petrol. After this process, when the bike was cranked again, there was no problem for some time, but then after 5 min of riding it, the same kind of sound emanated, but with less intensity. However, this time, the sound came only at rpm below 1.5 K, at any gear.
I am really worried about my bike which was functioning absolutely smoothly in the last 2.5 years, with no problems whatsoever.
I hope its nothing to do with the K&N filter/ Avenger 180's stator coil plate.
Thanks in advance.

First of all its better you get your bike washed by PBK only, they dont put pressurized water on unwanted places like the CDI.Originally posted by dr.swayam View PostI am posting on this thread after a real long time. Secondly, if the water is splashed on the CDI its suggested to use compressed air for drying it instead of using petrol which is totally unnecessary.
Ideally the bike should become normal when the CDI is dry. If you are still facing this problem get it checked by Probiking ONLY!
Also check if the mechanic had splashed water on K&N filter, it can be another cause.
Suggestion: Cover the K&N with a polythene bag next time you get your bike washed.Last edited by AashishS; 06-30-2011, 01:05 PM.sigpic

How's the Pulsar 200 as a performance bike?
Hi Guys,
This is my first thread on xBhp. I recently bought second hand Pulsar 200, 2008 model. I have always avoided pulsars as i had heard very bad reviews of the after sales service and the general reliability of the bikes. i already own a 1979 RE Bullet 350 and a Honda Unicorn (the very first model) and both of these bikes have been a painless and wonderful experience. If any of you own Pulsar 200, which i'm sure many will be, can you please just outline the various issues, pros and cons of owning this machine (P200).
Many thanx in advance.

2nd hand P200.

I got a P200 in March'10 which was a 2009 model and it had clocked 10K by then.
My initial experience was good. For a few weeks it gave me nothing but happiness.I was super excited to ride it and thought I had made the right decision by getting it.Months passed by and the first signs of some serious trouble came out in June.
I initially thought it needs some thorough servicing and then it'll be good.
By then I had done about 14K KM and I was pretty happy. But right from June'10 to this day ( and probably till I get rid of it) I have never been able to sort out the numerous issues that keep cropping up as soon as I fix one.
My Pulsar opened its Pandora's box.
First it was sprocket at 14K Km and then Fork Cups and then very recently Cam chain got replaced and tappets were also adjusted.
I had a K&N setup earlier with and without jetting and it brought its share of problems too.I removed that and got back to stock setup. But still I don't find the acceleration and smoothness I once did before I clocked 15K Km( I never had K&N setup back then...got it by 17K Km and removed by 18.5K Km).
And from last month I'm plagued by a new problem.
"Battery!!!" and the digital speedo is acting weird.I replaced the battery and the coil as suggested by SVC people and now the speedo shows xKMPH when the bike is not in movement with only the ignition switched on.
There are probably many more to come about which I have not thought of.
I have spent more or less Rs.7000[over and above the general service and Motul Synthetic Oils, rear Tyre, disc pads and sprocket...which I felt was necessary to prevent further deterioration and also got Osram H4 bulbs for better visibility].
I dont know what others have gone through but my experience with P200 was a nightmare.I can never say anything good about this bike. But I feel you should go through what others say and hear them out because I feel Im very unlucky and may be I have that "one in a thousand" defective piece or it could be because the guy who purchased it first never took proper necessary care.
But Im here today because without these problems I would have never known "xbhp"

Thanx for replying yaar! though i haven't faced any particular problems till date but i have only have had the bike for 2 weeks now. have done around 500 KM. after i bought the bike i took it to the PBK in banashankari (Auto Service) and though i was very impressed with the kind of work the people are doing there, i'm still having the same problem which i had told the mech about before the service. i have a very low pick-up and i thought that this being a second hand bike might need a few twiks here and there, but the pick-up is still not wat i expected from the P200...will again take it to the PBK this weekend...lets pray i face no issues this time and as you faced...i just hope tht there are no hidden skeletons that tumble out of the closet....

Pulsar 200 - Groove tech
I have a p200 2009 model , always happy with the performance n power. I like to keep my bike in stock as the bike gives good mileage balancing performance, i am an automobile engineer and i know whats best for my beast. Once i came across a patented technology called GROOVE TECHNOLOGY in TOG GEAR magazine which could increase power torque and mileage all at once. Mr Somender Singh from Mysore holds this patent for his invention. I contacted him and found out more about this amazing technology and finally got it done on my bike
. Power and torque was just mind blowing and even mileage had increased
what else could i as for
I even got a dyno jet reading of the power and torque, where i could see 15-20% increase in low end torque n power. You can Get more info about this technology on net. I saw 1.75hp increase at the rear wheel

so what should I replace from Avenger 180......Thanks in advance !
