Better go for CBR150R instead of Pulsar.
I know that it's the best in it's class, but still this was always my learning bike. Have been loving the bike but it needs to make way for a new bike.

      • Hi Sachin

The 65 kmpl is on highway at the speed in between 50-60 kmph. I had done the run in properly. I have clocked more that 4500 kms on the odo. The cramster cost me Rs 2300 and are a great way to take goodies with you on a tour. The capacity is 37 lts.

In the morning the bike starts with just one kick without accelerator. i read somewhere here on the thread that i might be running rich mixture...ideally the bike should not start in 1 kick. Also i had gone to mumbai for 2 months and when i came back the bike still started in 1 kick.

I will try to tune the bike to see if it helps...or should i let a mechanic do it ? Also do i have to remove those plastic covers to access the fuel screw. it is kind of inclined and not vertical.

But why are you sticking with Pulsar beter go with new gen bikes. like R15 v2.0 , CBR 150 & 250 R, KTM. Even if you want only pulsar then try Pulsar NS.

Stating down reasons one by one:
CBR250: out of my budget. (but VFM none the less)
R15: They stance is too sporty and me being 6 foot tall would not be comfortable on it. (totally love the bike though)
CBR150??: It's over-priced and the quality of materials used didn't impress me, switch and all is from dazzler
KTM: That was one of my options, but still priced a bit above my budget.

I'm planning the 200NS because it does not pose any of the above stated problems, more over it fits well into my budget leaving room for a new helmet and maybe boots. If there are any other options please do tell me.

Normally how you is ride style, if you always ride it's in rassshly then surely the mentioned parts by you must be damaged & you have to change it. Bcz engine bore parts will not get damage easily until you ride rashly.
My bike completed 25k kms but still i dint touch the engine even dint changed the spark plug but i've ride it on 100+ speeds continuously about 5-6hrs all are speed drive not a rash drive i think you can understood the difference.
Better consider with another mechanic & ASC before changing the parts.
I don't think so these parts will come under warranty if it is then good.

My bike also start in 1 self without accelerating It's not mean it's rich mixture. your bike is in perfect condition so Don't touch the carburetor if you do then you'll be get some serious issues might mileage get increase but engine ll get over heat.
Nowadays my bike giving me constantly 65+kmpl.

Hi ankur, my bike also starts in one kick right from the day i bought the bike and now even after 15k run and after making the mixture slightly lean...it still starts within one kick.way to find if mixture is rich or lean is to see the color of spark plug.color should be chocolate brown or Biscuit brown. if its black then mixture is rich, if its white then its lean. The factory setting is neither rich nor lean.Actually the reason for mixture getting rich is because the Air filter element gets partially choked with fine dust during usage which then slowly reduces air flow and as a result less air passes through the filter...as a result mixture becomes bit rich. so if that is the reason for low mileage then simple solution is to get a new Air filter without changing the tuning and you should get mileage like before. so if you can afford simply change the Air filter and see if mileage improves.it costs less then 150 Rs and changing filter is very easy.

for easy unrestricted access it is better to remove the left side cover for fuel screw and right side cover for Idle screw.i would strongly suggest you mark the default screw position using a sketch pen around screw area so that in case things ends up in a mess you can always refer to original position marked with pen.
if you know good mechanic then get it done from him...also you can see him while doing the tuning work and learn the procedure yourself.

i think CBR 250 is the best if you can afford it. I did a test ride of KTM and thing which i did not like was that suspension was bit hard and it does not soak up the potholes well like the way CBR250 does.also exhaust sound was quite bit loud like a two stroke engine....though when it comes to performance its a brilliant pocket rocket. 200NS seems great value for money..but bajaj has not yet announce final price...hope there are no major quality issues.only other option for now is to wait for yamaha to launch their 250cc but it may get higher price tag then CBR.
there is news that bajaj will also launch P200 with side Flaring.

Check your air fuel ratio, Initially change the air-filter bcz it's already 12k kms done na, In chennai condition the air filter get dirty soon.Even after changing the airfilter if you are not happy with mileage then tune the carburetor.
Ya honda service guys are not familiar with services.i'm not servicing in service centers normally i do some adjustments myself. once in a 4k kms i'll give to my house opp mechanic to service. He do some things like break shoe adjustments, Battery charging ,.... Nothing else deeply.

Check this CBR 150R rear Rim....its has same rim size of 17 inch as on twister and it looks exactly same as that of Twister. I will personally check that out in showroom....and if its indeed same then it is capable of taking even 130 section tyre which is already present on CBR150.....thus a 120 section tyre would be fine.
