  • Which engine oil is good?

I am looking for a better engine oil other than honda engine.Honda engine oil is "mineral oil" which is good and to be used during running in period or at least first 5000km.
i am about to finish 5000km,so looking to experiment with a "semi-synthetic" oil but not the "fully synthetic" at this stage.if cost is not the factor then which is the best semi synthetic oil is suitable for Twister?

    • I have been experimenting with tuning setting on carburetor of my own.checked my fuel efficiency today from reserve to reserve.first keeping fuel knob to ON position i ran the bike till bike stops in reserve.then noted down the exact Odometer reading at this point.then turned the fuel nkob to reserve position and used the reserve fuel to reach fuel station.filled two liter of petrol, then turn the fuel knob to ON position and run the bike till it falls in reserve and stops.this gives correct fuel efficiency reading.
this time i wanted to check fuel efficiency on highway only.i ran the bike in 40-50km/hr speed in fourth gear most of the time, with few downshifts to third gear depending on traffic situation.single rider with my own weight of 64kg,and accelerating steadily making full use of bikes motion. my twister ran exactly 165.2 km on 2 liter fuel before stopping automatically on reserve.that translates in to fuel efficiency of 82.6km/liter. thats true!!and no engine overheating problems now.it took me lots of time and patience to get that sweet spot between rich and lean mixture for optimum performance and fuel efficiency.I dont think a mechanic can do it in first attempt.
however congested city only riding figures are quite low in comparison.its 64-65km/lit. the last & fourth free service is due next week and only problem is drum brakes have lost some of its bite.here is an guide for all wanting to know the basics of how bike tuning is done.it helped me a lot.check below link.cheers!!

        • It would be good if you could provide a pictorial guide of how you tuned your bike. Would be really helpful.

yes i will try to upload some pics with the procedure.the problem is twister does not have Tachometer to check RPM and you need to change idling RPM before tuning and them set it back to original at about 1400RPM after tuning. hence you need to get tachometer somewhere from outside.other bikes like dazzler, new stunner have techometer which makes tuning process easier.

                • Twister modified!!

Today just happened to see a modified Twister at a parking lot.The rear Tyre was replaced with a much Fatter Tyre and it looks simply sexy and awesome.Twister looks quite different and like FZ 16 to some extent. The Tyre make i noted down was DUNLOP GEO CRUISER, size 100/90.Now from what i could make out, seems to have been fitted on original Twister Rims, even though tyre size is bigger.I am sure no one will dare to finger at Twister tyres after looking at these tyres.
The tyre was looking great and had nice sexy thread patterns. They cost around 1600 bucks.but what is unknown is whether it will have any impact on engine or safety aspect of bike.I guess there will be a slight drop in mileage.
I would surely like to put them but dont know if its ok for engine and safety aspects.

Oh parag, great to see that you have already done it.so 100/90 is lightly bigger tyre right?so did you have to change the rim to fit the ceat tyres?and are these tubeless and whats the cost? how much is mileage drop compared to earlier ones?

                      • Advise needed desperately

A big Hi! to all XBHPians,

Though I registered with XBHP a few months back but wasnt able to locate this forum then. I am a proud owner of the Honda CB Twister and bought it on the 08th July'2010. This is my very first geared bike so let me be honest I made a lot of screw-ups. The bike is excellent, great power, amazing pick-up, lightweight, great looks overall I am all ga ga about it.

I had a few questions to you all,
                        1) I need to change my horn
                        2) The underseat lock is a bit hard which has bent the key slightly
                        3) How to get a better mileage on my bike?

The bike has run 2300+kms with 58 kms/ltr (I live in city)

I would be greatful If you guide me

                        • Reserve Fuel

                          Hi guys,

I have a doubt about the reserve fuel. How much fuel will be left once the reserve mark is reached? My bike manual is completely in hindi so I couldnt check it for this data.

As per the manual, fuel tank capacity is 8.0L and reserve capacity is 1.6L.

                            • Hi All,
This is Ronit. Bought a Honda CB Twister(Pearl Siena Red) on 24th August,2010. Became a member of xBhp today, but i used to follow it since I bought my bike. My bike has run 1300Kms and I am using Castrol Activ engine oil. Is it right to use that oil now? And is anyone using any chain lubricating oil? If yes, which brand and price?

                              • ^^I am using the Motul chain lube and chain clean sprays. Costs around 300 or something per can. I dont remember the exact price since it was a long time ago.
