When I bought my bike,I was advised not to use high octane petrol in a 110cc engine. Anyways,I have asked Honda experts via mail about the confusion. Will update as soon as I get some info from those guys!

Today on my way to office, suddenly my speedometer and odometer both stopped working at same time.went to service center and they said the Cable is broken where it connects at front wheel. damm it!! they charged me 75+45 for new speedo+oddo cables with service charges extra.wonder why it happened as i have done just 5k so far and i was driving on smooth highway when this incident happened. any one faced similar thing on their Twister?Last edited by sachin1111; 02-05-2011, 01:33 AM.

I was reading this months overdrive magazine, there is a report on twister after 5000km run. There also the reviewer has reported his speedo has stopped working. so i am wondering what could be the reason for same.Originally posted by HellsFury View Post^^Nope, have covered 6.6k so far and my speedo/odo cables are intact.

Help needed
have a twister in my family which is used by my dad for city commute. all was fine but yesterday my father told me theres something wrong with it. when i took it out for a ride, a number of problems resurfaced.
the bike didn't star in one go.(im from goa and the whether here is not at all chilly).
when i shift to 1st another problem. the gear lever sims to have lost its smooth spring mechanism and now it fills as if its gettin dragged. you know that positive click of slotting into gear, its missing.
next the accelerator seems to be working in to stages. initially(a little twist) it feels loose and there is a lack of aceleration. than all of a sudden it weighs up and the bike seems to just jump(something like the torque surge of swift D but in a bad way i.e) all the initial loss of power is made up all of a sudden and its a pain to ride in the traffic.
when the bike was bought it was smooooth as butter but now the headlamp fairing, foot pegs and handlebar seem to rattle. it not that it vibrates but the harshness has increased.
what i suspect is that the gear lever spring has gone kaput and the bike is running on a lean AF mixture.
bike is ~5 months old and has completed 7.5k kms. servicing promptly done on time. well i dont usually ride it but after this experience im shocked. and i swear my father maintains the bike well.
guys please help me out

hey Kedar!! the symptoms you mentioned of sudden jumping of accelerator is usually the case of badly tuned engine.I have seen this while tuning my Twister.when you shift to second and try to accelerate, initially the bike doesn't move smoothly and then suddenly there is rapid acceleration.this happens because air fuel mixture is set too lean and Idling RPM also set incorrect.also this happens mostly when engine is cold and after driving for about 5 minutes, bike runs normal. I am not sure about gear shift problem but If you have clocked around 2000km or more since last oil change,it could be that oil condition is bad.so oil change will help smoother gear shift to some extent. so get the engine re tuned.By the way I am also from goa and can help you re tuning for free if you can come over to my place.Originally posted by kedar3223 View Posthave a twister in my family which is used by my dad for city commute. all was fine but yesterday my father told me theres something wrong with it. when i took it out for a ride, a number of problems resurfaced.

spark plug costs around Rs 90 and air filter around Rs 130. regarding the oil,if it is a mineral oil or semi synthetic then change it after every 2000-2500km. If the oil is synthetic then it will last you 5000km or more. How much you paid for shell Helix? and whats you experience compared to honda oil?
check below link for more about engine oils.

All You Need To Know About Engine Oils
initial experience with both oils was good ..... clutch slips have vanished ... and false neutrals too...
as per me the castrol was good till 5-6k use but the shell has become tared already.. my mechanic says its because my driving scenario has changed which is true > i used to day and night shifts earlier now its only day shift hence more traffic and clutch change.
Ideally 20W50 should take in more beating
i know the dealer for Pennzoil who are now dealing in Shell lubs will get the Oil direcltly
But i would like to know if Honda Oil really lasts 6 K ?/
as i have switched to castrol at 6.5 K mark

honda oil is mineral oil,so it hardly lasts 2-2.5k.i feel the engine harshness nearing 2k.but its much cheap@around 150 bucks.have u tried shell advanced SX 4T 10W30?shell website has recomended this oil for all honda bikes.i will try this for my next oil change.Originally posted by blackcatasus View PostShell 20W50 costed me 235Rs and castrol Active 4T 20W40 used earlier was costing for 240Rs

Hi All...
Recently I have seen that when I push my bike beyond 55kmph,it gives a sudden forward thrust at times which lasts for 1-2secs and then becomes normal. Can anyone identify the fault? And regarding throttle response, the same thing, the accelerator seems to be working in to stages. initially(a little twist) it feels loose and there is a lack of acceleration...My bike has done 1600kms. Engine re-tuning required? Kindly help.

Ronits, are you facing any starting problems when using a kick start in morning?also how long does engine runs (without using choke) when u start bike in the morning when engine is in cold condition?Originally posted by Ronits View PostHi All...

accelerator working in stages is a sign of improper tuning. But could be other reasons like air pipe problems.when you sit on bike,on Right hand side there is a bronze color screw near carburator which needs to be turned.Turning direction of screw will depend on whether you are running rich or lean mixture.its not easy to tune bike and mechanics often spoil the tuning bcoz even if you turn that screw by 10-20 degree more or less then required, then you will face bad tune.anyway if you can see that screw do let me know.you do not have to open the cover.its visible from outside and can be turned using a small screw driver.

Thanks for the advise!
1) I got my horn changed to Minda dual horns, they are loud and pretty decent then others.
2) The underseat lock still remains a problem
3) My concern still remains on the mileage, its dropping way badly then I expected
The problem is I stay in Pune and my residence is in the heart of the city its on the main road there are too many signals on every junction making it difficult to ride without the use of clutch and changing gears every now and then.
Need your advise on how to manage this problem..

Thanks mate...well,my 3rd servicing is due this saturday. Will ask the SVC guys to tune my bike properly. Kickstart seems to be working fine. And in the morning, when I just start my bike and shift to first gear within 10secs,i face the problem of accelerator working in stages. One day,i took my bike out in the afternoon n it was kept out in the sun. The throttle response ,engine sound, everything seemed to be perfect then...air pipe problems! No idea about that, but thanks for giving that info, now il ask SVC guys to check for that too...
