I really miss the power of the FZ even in the city, especially when riding with a pillion(which is 75% of the time). Took a test ride of the Apache RTR 160 today and I really liked the bike. Am seriously considering selling the Twister and going for the Apache.
Hellsfury, whats your current mileage?i suppose there has not been much drop in pickup with your twister and mileage is your main concern.i have driven my cousins Apache RTR and it surely has better pickup, better then FZ and handles very well in city.
for most people, getting bad mileage even when bike is relatively new is due to bad running in during first 2000km,such as riding with pillion, hard acceleration etc.I have seen a pulser which gives very bad mileage as low as 25kmpl before crossing 10k. I never allowed any pillion till i finished about 2.5k & strictly remained under 40 for first 1k & under 60 till 2k.i am satisfied with current mileage of 60- 62 with 100% city riding and 75+on highway.
honestly I too feel twister is not a good option for riding with pillion specially in city.Twister is best when ridden single. If i was in your place and pick up is not a priority, then i would have gone for a scooter like Activa/aviator which has good pillion comfort and being gear less its easy to ride and also you can carry some stuff under the seat.As far as bike,Unicorn is good for a family man.

    • After doing a lot of research I'm thinking of going for Zapper C. But is that tyre available in tubeless will be the decider. The measurements there are different zapper C available in 3.00 - 17 should fit the bike. Anybody else got this tyre? A link below

I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.

      • @horror, on other forums it has been mentioned that dazzler rear tyre is MRF Zapper "C" 110/80 on 17 inch rim and its tubless.this is the one you should look for.

110 on twister? It will be very heavy and will reduce acceleration, mileage and top end for sure. A 3.0 or 3.25 tire is more than enough for Twister. I cant find any tubeless option for 3.0 or 3.25 sized tires, get a tuff up tube for your rear tire.It will be ok. Or still if you want tube less go for 100/90-17 option.
See this RTR with 3.0 on rear.

If you can afford to, keep the Twister for a while yet. Twisters are not fetching good resale prices despite receiving glowering press reviews.

But why the 160, when the 180 also comes with ABS?
Yup that's whats stopping me right now. I was quoted only 36k for my one year old Twister. I guess Ill hang on to the Twister for a while. The 180 will be overkill for me

I get around 50 km/l currently with 100% city riding. Mileage is not my only concern. I can live with the mileage that I am getting. I have been consistently getting low mileage, even during running-in. I took great care during run-in so that cannot be my issue.
Anyways, even if the mileage issue gets solved, I still wont be happy since
I really feel the need for more power. And the Twister cannot give me that.
Pick-up is a priority so definitely no gearless scooters for me

Wait until petrol crosses Rs 100 per litre at which point the Twister will be in demand.

                • Engine Oil Changes: DIY ?

                  Guys
Do those of you who change engine oils from the Standard Honda oil, do it by yourself? Gulf Pride 20W40 seems to be the best from what I read.

How does one go about changing the oil? Or can you hand it over to the service centre mechanics and trust them to change it - a BIG IF they agree to?

Also can someone who has changed his rear tyre to anything more than the stock size please post pics?

                  Thanks

Yes i change my bikes oil by myself. Its quite simple job actually and procedure is given in user manual. For Twister you will need a Ring spanner of 12 size to open the drain bolt.make sure engine is bit hot at the time of draining because hot oil flows out better. replace the drain bolt washer with new one at the time of oil change because old washer may not seal properly and cause oil leakage.

                    • there is 100/90-17 option in Zapper "C" with tubeless option as mentioned on MRF site, this should be a ideal option for better mileage since 110/80 does seems overkill for twister.
Honda CBF Stunner and new bajaj discover 125,pulser135 etc also uses 100/90-17 size tubeless tyres
so it seems above option is good for twister.so guys,do you see any other better option?

                      • Weird Experience!!!

                        Hi guys,

I just had a weird experience with my CB Twister. I was on a long ride of about 80 kms driving on top gear at a speed of 60 kmph and I realised that the bike started swinging from one end to another, the swing wasnt that much but it continued for some time... I remembered this happened before. I thought I should share this with you all to find if any of you had the same experience.

Have any of you changed your rear tyre. Have tried to find an MRF tyres T&S in Pune but failed to find one. If you could please advise....

                        • me too facing this swinging several times.at first i was bit scared, thinking it may be due wheel alignment problem as i recently had a fall on road due to miner accident.but now i feel its due to strong cross winds hitting at leg area as the bike is moving forward.i.e wind hitting on right or left side of bike is trying to push the bike away from the straight line the bike is moving. to check this just ride bike in early morning as there is not much wind during morning.
Twister being light weight is prone to this at this time of year.Any idea which brand of Tyre is used in discover 125?

It's most probably due to misaligned wheels...

You can feel that if you have recently had a tyre/sprocket change..

Get the wheels aligned by a good mechanic and the problem should disappear.
Signals which are timed for 50 Kmph are also timed for 100 Kmph :)
