normally engine oil change intervals is 3000 kms.If its fully synthetic no need to change oil upto 10000kms.Oil will get black even on 100kms.Change it when the oil loose its physical terms.Don't waste money by changing oil often.Originally posted by Ronits View PostHi All,
I would like to know, If I change engine oil, a bit earlier, say within 800-900 Kms, will that anyway affect the longevity of engine ? I always feel that the engine oil goes black sooner, the smell of the oil feels like it has been burnt. But, guys here say that , we need to change engine oil after 1500Kms or so. Please confirm.

Dude, engine oil is like a blood in humans...very important in terms of maintenance.frequent oil change is better for long engine life.its not waste of money.although many oil brands claim their oil lasts 10000km but in real life usage they only last half as much.also putting synthetic oil for Twister will be waste of money because oil will turn black at same rate whether you put mineral or Synthetic. If oil turns black @100km then their must be problem with leaky piston rings.Originally posted by rajaselvam_1987 View Postnormally engine oil change intervals is 3000 kms.If its fully synthetic no need to change oil upto 10000kms.Oil will get black even on 100kms.Change it when the oil loose its physical terms.Don't waste money by changing oil often.
from my personal usage,Honda mineral oil(Rs 162) lasts 1k-1.5k

I'm using elf engine oil costs me Rs.200. I'm using this for my bike & for my dad Actia even used on my past HH Passion+.My regular interval for all the above bikes is 3000+kms even sometimes 4000kms.But didn't faced any prob.I didn't checked at 100km but my mechanic said.Originally posted by sachin1111 View PostDude, engine oil is like a blood in humans...very important in terms of maintenance.frequent oil change is better for long engine life.its not waste of money.although many oil brands claim their oil lasts 10000km but in real life usage they only last half as much.also putting synthetic oil for Twister will be waste of money because oil will turn black at same rate whether you put mineral or Synthetic. If oil turns black @100km then their must be problem with leaky piston rings.

Rajaselvam this is wrong synthetic oil needs to be changed every 3500-4000km and mineral every 2.5k kilometers please ensure to verify the details before posting . Honda recommends oil change every 2500km for Honda engine oil which is mineral. Please dont confuse others. Guys if you can afford there is no harm in changing opil every 1000 km after all all it costs is Rs 188 which we waste on many other things take care of your bike like a baby and it will return the same love, I own a CBR and it is maintained like a jewelLast edited by rameshap; 11-23-2011, 11:14 AM.

Irrespective of what the label on the oil container, or the claims of Manufacturer or the SVC say about Oil change interval, it is in our own and engine interest ,to change the oil every 1,500 to 2,000 Kms.Originally posted by rajaselvam_1987 View Postnormally engine oil change intervals is 3000 kms.If its fully synthetic no need to change oil upto 10000kms.Oil will get black even on 100kms.Change it when the oil loose its physical terms.Don't waste money by changing oil often.
Oil changes color by accumulating the debris ,which is the result of combustion and mechanical moving parts. So a dark oil is not a good oil to retain in the engine...ever since I had changed my ZMA oil from HH10w30 to Gulf Pride 20w40 the oil retains color and performance till 1,400 Kms.whereas the HH 10w30 becomes dark in just under 500 Kms , and engine becomes harsh and hot, while gears become notchy.
No body lost an engine due to frequent oil change. When Was The Last Time,You Did Something For The First Time.

Hey guys, Thanks for all your valuable thoughts on 'frequency of engine oil change'. I analyzed all your posts, and have now arrived at the thing, that, there is no harm in changing engine oil ,even at 1000kms.
When we can buy new clothes, every now and then, and spend money here and there ,partying, why not spend 180-200 odd bucks on something, we, the bikers love!!
I will keep this in mind, that if the color of engine oil turns black sooner, there is some problem with the piston, as someone mentioned earlier.
And no matter what, I shall never keep the same oil for as long as 10,000Kms, and that even if the manufacturer claims so, synthetic oils last no longer than 4000-5000Kms.

The engine oil in 4 stroke engine also helps in sealing compression by forming a layer between the bore and piston ring.... thinner the oil, thinner the layer, and more chance of exploding gasses to leak into crankshaft space below. So a thinner oil will go dark sooner than a thicker oil..similarly an oil with less viscosity stability will, under hot condition, leak compression and become dark faster...Originally posted by Ronits View PostHey guys, Thanks for all your valuable thoughts on 'frequency of engine oil change'. hi guys,After bringing in new body colors like white and grey,it seems like Honda will now launch Twister with body Graphics on it.few days back Honda launched a white dazzler with body graphics....and since dazzler is nothing but a grown up Twister, they can do similar graphics with Twister as well to make it look fresh.
here is a picture of new dazzler.

i would love to get graphics like those on my bike...
n the new white cb twister looks awesome..
hate that i wasnt avialible before.
anyway
any complains about low milage?
i used to get 55-58 since i bought the bike
getting 40 since last month. got the setting checked with the mechanic nothing changed
.then went to another mechanic he did something to the accelerator cable which is connected to the carbureetor hope this helps (got this done yesterday). pls post in tips for improvement in economy.
ps: i do tend to open throttle on the highways sometimes,
i know its not good for the bike milage but i think 40 is too low.

That's looks nice, but i don't think so this type of graphics will look good on twister.Twister is look good on its own plain colors.Originally posted by sachin1111 View Posthi guys,After bringing in new body colors like white and grey,it seems like Honda will now launch Twister with body Graphics on it.few days back Honda launched a white dazzler with body graphics....and since dazzler is nothing but a grown up Twister, they can do similar graphics with Twister as well to make it look fresh.

Gaurav I ride mine between 40-60 kmph in city and it returns a mileage of 68kmpl. In highways economy travel has returned me 79kmpl.. Mileage depends on lot of factors
1)Dont meddle with your original caurberator setting
2)If low then get the lean fuel air mixture setting
3)Correct Idle rpm 1400 +/-100 is recommended (get it done from ASC)
4)Well lubed chain
5)Right tyre pressure
6)Ride in economy mode for best mileage
5)Change engine oil at correct intervals
6)Fill quality unleaded petrol for best results
