Evn though I had booked my bike on Jan 18th, there are still no signs of delivery approaching... sighh....this wait is really frustrating... guess i will become a psycho waiting like this...
if the delivery for me keeps on getting delayed like this, soon you guys will find a headline in Bangalore Mirror saying "Keep your CBRs safe...psycho on the loose in the city"

- Came to the office today and rode it in peak hour traffic for around 20 Kms, felt the hot air in my legs sometimes(as somebody had mentioned here earlier not to wear shorts). BTW the indicator on the console was all through the ride 3 bars. Will observe this properly on the way back home.

BTW, How many KMS did you run? I had the same over heating thing for the first 70-100 kms, Now My odo is at 240 and the heating is normal. No more overheating issues and yeah I'm riding it in my shorts everyday

I had the same issue of hot air blowing on the legs but after around 180kms on ODO everything is fine. No more heating.

where is Jhaveri honda in kurla, i am from kurla is it in the east or west?

What's that? I couldn't understand that part. I went a 300kms continuous ride on my FZ16 the minute i bought her. @Ajay can you explain a little. Never heard like this before.

Knocking

Hi Guys, I did a test ride in Chennai - Didar motors and i found the bike was knocking. Does the bike knock on lower RPMs?

Its only been 18 days since I booked my baby CBR and now itself I am getting sooooo restless/frustrated thinking that I have to spend another 2.5 months (may be more than that) waiting for the delivery..

But happy to see that people are getting deliveries of their CBRs.. Which in turn keeps my hope alive to get the bike before the tentative delivery date..

@All CBR owners, please keep posting the pics of the bike and of course, your experiences with the bike..

Its ok to ride for long distances but care should be taken to see that there is no strain on the engine. Frequent stops to let the engine and transmission cool down is paramount during run-in.

But then, some people abroad run their bikes in (actually read as break-in) on the race track. Do it if you have spare cash lying around and the bike that is breaking in is one of the weekend toys.

@ Aditya: Hey did you get a chance to check if your Xena xx6 lock fits in the CBR??

I have been reading about this issue and some members said its something to do with clutch settings.
But if this issue is common then it makes you give a second thought on quality honda is supplying.

The strain part is ok. We use to do the run-in by usually not taking the bike to high revs rite. As the bike is Liquid cooled and riding it in low rpm's for long distance is a probs? Is it like the same for Ninja too. Sorry if the query is a noob. Just curious.

LOLz, I just got discharged from that same mental asylum you are going into now. Dont worry, DR.CBR will be a very good cure for you, only thing is the appointment with him is a big waiting game.
Well, the bikes in the initial part of break-in, is designed to extract max power so that the valves rub in and become smooth and the piston-cylinder match becomes a match made in heaven. These metal pieces are actually rubbing against each other and produce minute metallic particles(powdery) that increase friction and there by make the overall functioning of engine butter like smooth by smoothing due to friction.
Now coming to the part about small rides, well the month is may and climate is at its hottest, even in Bangalore, where I heard people dont sweat, due to global warming the temp is high. And long rides means engine overheating. You can easily notice the same in temp gauge in the console. Thats why rains are actually a blessing for riding and I have decided to ride in the nights for finishing in run-in. The lighting is amazing I tell you, you def dont need Projectors.
So you can ride for 30-45 mins and then stop for engine to cool down. The thing is not to keep the RPM constant and its difficult to do that since you cant ride looking at road and also the RPM meter. So short rides are a good thing to follow. All this advice from out ninja guy Justyhere(Justin).
Its better not to go for long-er rides till your bike break in is over.

@Ajay i don't think this much amount to consciousness is needed, jus kidding, i know the friction part you mentioned is correct, but mind you these machines are well machined when they get down from the factory itself, a varying RPM rides in the run-in period makes the bike more healthy i think. I have decided to make a 300kms(to Thrissur) on the same day i get my bike.
