Heard about kawasaki not stating the Honda cbr250r as a threat and quote "we are going to jump in the ring soon" unquote, by Mr. Tanigawa, MD IKM.... which indirectly confirmed that they would soon jump into the single cylinder engine line.... Would they realease a ninja with a single cylinder? Or a seperate bike... What ever they are gonna do (they including yamaha) they better do it quick before Honda eats up the 250cc single cylinder market...

Yup. There is a lot of difference in the performance. The ninja would have better power output. I would suggest you to refer a few pages back. There is a detailed explanation on the single & twin cylinders.Originally posted by maples View Posthonda with single cylinder and ninja with double cylinder . any difference in performance?

I think the time is appropriate to chime in here and say something that has been on my mind for a LONG time.
I love bikes and I respect all bikers no matter what they ride. You will almost NEVER catch me riding my MT01 with a group of Superbike riders...but I am very happy to ride with aspiring riders in various G2G chapters on their Karizmas, Pulsars etc.
I would HATE for an aspirational biker to save up for several months to buy the CBR250R and then go through disappointment because the bike wasn't all it was made up to be. Disappointment is inevitable because at 1.5L the bike is still expensive for what is essentially a 250cc liquid cooled single! At 1.8L (which will end up at 2L or more on the road) I am seriously concerned.
Take for example the Ninja 250R which is a great motorcycle IF you are aware of what it can do and if you are fine with that sort of performance. At 3L I think it is very poor value for money! You just don't get the big-bike "Buzz" that you would, and rightly should, expect for that kind of money. If you ride a 400cc four or a 600cc four, you get this feeling of expansive power and torque which makes riding so much fun. You get the noise that goes with the performance and adds to the sensory thrill.
The 250R felt like too little bike for too much money and it didn't give me the buzz that I was hoping for. If the 250R felt like a diet coke then how is the CBR250R going to measure up to your expectations?
I suspect many of you who buy the CBR hoping to experience the "Buzz" will be left wanting. Keep your expectations down...this is a successor to the Karizma and not a baby Fireblade! the 250R Ninja is no baby ZX10R either.
Save your money for the 650s and 750s that are coming soon instead of blowing it on these motorcycles. If you are offended by what I am saying here...suck an egg. One ride and you will be yearning for more power. Singles and small capacity twins simply cannot satisfy our desperate need for the "Buzz"Kriss : 15.06.1981 - 11.10.2009

It would be a lot better to save up the money & go for a hyosung which is soon gonna enter our market with a relatively good pricing.NOT BEEN THERE NOT DONE THAT

i agree with your last line but to put it simply manufacturers are simply exploiting a market which has no options. nobody claimed the cbr is gonna be a super performer but how many can afford a litre class bike or even a 600? hence with whatever money they could get their hands on they buy the bike in the relevant price bracket. just cause i wanna ride a litre class doesnt mean i will sit @ home till i get my hands on 10lac rupees that would be silly. so for now the ninja and when and if and when there is even a 600 in the market and 6lacs in my purse we will see.Originally posted by gsferrari View PostI think the time is appropriate to chime in here and say something that has been on my mind for a LONG time.

Yes this will be the best thing to do unless you need instant gratificationOriginally posted by madhav krishna View PostIt would be a lot better to save up the money & go for a hyosung which is soon gonna enter our market with a relatively good pricing.
I'd ABSOLUTELY recommend keeping the money in hand...or investing it smartly (now that the market is down
) and increasing the corpus so a Hyosung 650 becomes affordable. It is better to stretch for one of these than to settle for the CBR...if you are looking for the "Buzz". Droning around on a single cylinder gets old very quickly...
I say stick with whatever Apache/Pulsar/Unicorn/Karizma you've got for a little bit longer until the REAL big bikes come in. It is just around the corner...you've waited this long don't just give away 2L to Honda for a 250cc 26bhp single!Originally posted by yellowspunk View Posti agree with your last line but to put it simply manufacturers are simply exploiting a market which has no options. nobody claimed the cbr is gonna be a super performer but how many can afford a litre class bike or even a 600? hence with whatever money they could get their hands on they buy the bike in the relevant price bracket. just cause i wanna ride a litre class doesnt mean i will sit @ home till i get my hands on 10lac rupees that would be silly. so for now the ninja and when and if and when there is even a 600 in the market and 6lacs in my purse we will see.

I would seriously wait for the next 5-6 years and stick with my trusted Tornado for that downpayment to accumulate in my R1saving scheme (I like to call it RSS) rather than to go for a 250 c.c...... because we might be able to buy the first big bike or rather say allowed by the various responsibilites.... but I find it very hard to digest the 105% duty on these bikes.... and by the time I have collected the amount for downpayment I am dead sure that the duty on these bikes at that given point of time will be reduced to 5-10% and the after sales service a lot better than the current levels...Timon: Orange Yamaha FZ16 2009

You know my love for the S1000RR, but am also in love with other liter machines from Japan & also the RSV-4, but then nowadays I have started to dream a bit practically tooOriginally posted by gsferrari View PostSave your money for the 650s and 750s that are coming soon instead of blowing it on these motorcycles.
My simple criterion is a I-4.
This is what appears in most of my dreams

I have a doubt in mind..... Do these big bikes have a run-in period, like our normal bikes?Last edited by Horror; 11-20-2010, 11:40 AM.I would rather be riding my bike thinking of God, than sitting in the temple thinking of my bike.
