I see different reaction on Mojo thread and this. Most reaction on Mojo when people saw the bike picture was on the 'yuk' side. Where as for the CBR, its mostly 'wow'. Also you can simply see the no. of posts, and to think CBR has not even touch Indian soil, where as at least the Mojo has, even though it was pushed .

Do we have any takers on xBhp? I guess you did not follow this thread properly .

      Eggactly..!!

Even after the official unveiling.. official test rides to the auto journos.. official revealing of the tech specs.. official (tentative) prices for India.. the number of posts continue unabated in the CBR250R thread.

Well this thread is started quite before a lot of time from the launch of the bike. Well it would be too early to discuss about it. But am sure if the thread for a mojo was started few months before its launch then it would have also had a lot of posts.

Am not talking about CBR. Am talking about the mojo. A lot of people talked about getting one. But later everyone turned down.

I think the idea behind buying the CBR250R shouldnt be to get the performance of a 600 or a litre. There are other significant things to a bike, like handling and braking, that is why serious riders should buy the CBR, Ninja, R15 etc. These are the only true bikes in India (my opinion). Although down on power(R15) they got good overall chasis and handling. They brake with a decent amount of feedback at front and rear. They teach you where to look out for traction when leaned over. Power and Buzz are only secondary on a good handling bike.

The CBR250R will be a bike that will be outgrown very quickly..so will the Ninja250R be. But that doesnt hold ground for 90% of the riders who will buy them to ride in the city or for touring.

Once you swing your leg over a litre...everything else feels underpowered. Hell I rode friends R6 the other day and it felt seriously underpowered because I am used to riding a litre now. If an I4 600 feels underpowered then so will the 250R. The litre is at fault here not the 250cc puny engine. But someone riding an RTR, P220 for years will be pleasantly overjoyed/overwhelmed with the handling and the response of the chasis and engine on the CBR250R and the Ninja250R

What is it like to maintain a 600 or a litre? Its an expense to fix these bikes....OEM plastics are super super expensive. If you bend your wheel rim its gonna cost you like half a lac right there. So a bloke may save up the money over a period of 6 years to come up with 15 lacs at the end of 6 years but to maintain the bike he will need to slog for another 6 years.

The GT650R is gonna be an awesome deal because of all the above mentioned things. Its not gonna be super expensive to maintain...its a decent handling machine with good feedback at the levers...and it will also have the power or buzz that will last an average rider for more than a couple of years for sure.

I am rambling here but the point I am trying to get out there is that one shouldnt jump over small bikes with the intention of hitting up the big bikes in the near future. I am not even talking about whether one will be able to handle the power. I am talking about getting accustomed to good handling and braking and the overall feel of what it is to ride at 150kmph and steer and brake a bike at those speeds. It is imperative that one knows how to brake and handle and it is imperative that one learns that on a not so powerful/expensive machine.

That's excatly what I'm waiting for, the yamaha bike....because if yamaha manages to make something like the R15 in the 250cc section at a low price(which I doubt) it would just be spectacular...

                          • 1.5 lac price confirmed

went to First Auto Expo @ Kolkata expecting CBR250R there but sadly it wasn't there there was a poster saying it is releasing in 'april 2011'.. I asked the guy from honda about the price to which he replied 1.5 lac:rolleyes.. then i immediately asked is it ex-showroom price, for which he said it is the on-road price... finally i asked what will be the price of C-ABS version but he wasn't sure about it....

if the non abs version is 1.5 on road then the on road should not be more than 1.8 on road...

                              • a similar thing happened.
day before yesterday i went to the autocar show here in mumbai.

on honda's stall there were VFR, FIREBLADE & CB1000, apart from other COMMUTER bikes.

i expected to see a cbr250, to my surprise, there were posters of cbr250 stating to be launched in april and so and so.
i check the tag, it said combined abs, and some other info, but no MAX BHP, and MAX TORQUE figures...
nothing written there which we don't know.

i asked the lady standing there about the expected price and related stuff.
she had a register in her hand and asked me "what are you willing to pay ??"
i said nothing more than 1.5 lac ON ROAD for a NON ABS MODEL (i mentioned it as a whole)

she rote it down on the same register, asked my name and number, age and bla bla...
i saw that there was a list of roughly 20 odd names above mine where people have quoted 3 lac, 2.5 lac and 2.75 lac

actually what i believe is that they were doing a market survey, they want to know what the buyer is ready to pay..

meanwhile i asked her that when will i be able to see it in flesh, in April or is it possible before, she stated that bookings will start in jan, and deliveries will start from april.
she also said that i will receive a call for any updates meanwhile...

damm those guys in the register...
i bet none of them would be an xbhpian, if honda knows that the consumer is ready to pay 3 lac, then why will it not price it as much ??
considering that honda is CONVINCED that many will still buy at that price. (ninja types)

1.5 lac on road for a non abs model is very much possible..
as its going to be manufactured here in India..

                                but again can't say..
if 1000 ninja's are sold here with a 3 lac price tag, why not a CBR ??

besides even if we consider that its manufactured here, compare ninja in thai market, is it priced below 2 lac Indian currency ??

if a 250cc international market's bike is priced at that tag, kwaky guys will have to sell themselves out...
Giving a lot to a fiero.
Expecting a lot from a fiero.
