Well 154 kmph at 11k RPM...and the redline is at 14k...with peak power at 12k...so we can easily expect speeds above 165kmph...and above 170kmph when crouched...experts am I correct to say this??

If in Last gear than power bandwidth will be too high so there be more speed as said by you. At peak power output it may touch around 172-175 on ODO and and can touch 180 on OD while crouching.

PS: not an expert view, just out of experience from single and twin cylinder rides I can say that. Lets see what experts say.

And yea, it may touch such speeds. It still got 3k more to go and hasn't touched the peak power, so 20-25 km/H more will be easily done.

Hahhaha!!! lol! lets poop your party. How about this declaration from Yamaha in the near furture
" To make the R25 more tractable and suitable for Indian road conditions and to give the prospective buyer better fuel economy and compatibility with lower grade petrol, the ECU has been tuned to reduce the power to around 30 BHP and increase the fuel economy to 24 kmpl .
We will continue to strive to offer better suited products to the Indian buyer and hope that these ecu 'alterations' are welcomed by them"

Your honour, I object. If you're not an expert then who is? And yes, if the bike can do 154 kmph ODO at 11k RPM, it can certainly do 170+ kmph.

190 kmph seems a bit more, don't you think. But yes 180+ kmph maybe possible. Anyways to attain such speeds, we've to do Bangalore-Pune every month. And I guess the service interval will be around 5-6k kms.

Dude are you on a mission to downgrade Yamaha's brand value and market anyhow?? Let Yamaha launch the bike then we can worry about the declaration. Till then let us hope with an already launched bike and with its tech specs. As far as the fuel is concerned, I doubt your info that Indonesia gets better grade. Till then chill and enjoy your Duke.

Now where has the sense of humour gone? How did you survive the 4 years of BE(you told me you were an IT guy?) without humour/sarcasm?
That comment was made in jest and @chaosaddict got it so he didn't feel peeved at his beloved yammie's brand value and market being 'downgraded'.

Btw I am looking at R25 as a possible upgrade so I'll keep on visiting this thread and post the odd non kosher comment, so Yammie fans please bear with me.

Any clue when Yamaha might release an official word about this bike?

Oh and if I am made the head of yamaha then I'd do this :

1)Launch an inline 4 R400 or something which would be an absolutely uncompromised track oriented offering(May be to break the back and shoulders of all yammie fans out here who ride it each day on hour crater filled roads)
                          2) Launch the FZ-09 in India without delay.
                          3) Kneel down at the feet of Arun Jaitely to ease the draconian custom structure for imported bikes(which doesn't make sense at all, since unlike cars we don't have local players making higer cc bikes). So an R1 at 8-9 lacs. An R6 at around 6-7 lacs
                          4) Setup plants to manufacture the bigger bikes here, even if it doesn't make business sense.
                          5) Give xbhp members 50% discount on all purchases

154 kmph at 11000 6th gear with max power output at 12000 and revs all the way till 14000 means most likely, intuitively speaking, 170/175+ should be easily/regularly/normally doable (just as about 130/135 is regularly doable in R15v2) without the need of crouching etc, and with crouching and other conditions made perfect (least wind resistance type of day, etc), 180+ maybe even 185+ should be attainable.

                            ----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

in fact, since RPMs go to 14000 and it's only 11000 at the moment in that pic, he should rather be in 5th gear instead of 6th in order to maximize the engine drive at which point i suppose the RPMs would be somewhere in 12000-13000 range..so really, at least 175 kmph should be a regularly attainable number at 6th gear nearing 13000 (discounting about say the last 1000 RPM attaining which at 6th gear would require extremely ideal wind/road grip/tyre pressure/etc conditions, as in R15 and most other bikes whose last gear is not much of an asskicker but more of high speed cruising abler/maintainer and thus doesnt have any drive left in it to go all the way until red line against the high wind friction at that point, ) .

please please do that indeed if you ever become a head engineer/corporate in yamaha...a modern generation version of the 1980s/90s FZR250/250R 4cyl 4stroke 20000 RPM 45hp, pure race machine..if not that, at least just make the R3 for EU/NA a proper 2 cyl supersport and get it into india. :-) :P

As shown in the picture , 6th gear 11krpm, wouldn't the bike max out at say 12k or 13k rpm? rather than touching the red line or rev limiter in the 6th gear. Because generally in most bikes , we hit the rev limiter in every gear except the 6th one. I may be wrong hence asking it.
