Sorry for posting after a long gap...
My xtreme has clocked 34.5 K on odo.
Now I'm facing a few problems.

1. There is a feeling of jerk whenever I shift gears(Clutch plates are local ones and 7 K old!). Can I use Genuine Unicorn clutch and friction plates, since they are comparitively cheaper. What other components should be checked to eliminate this jerk issue.

2. Handle bar is making kat-kat noise, whenever Front brakes are applied. Looks like cone set is busted. Should I go for genuine or SKF cone set.

3. I have replaced the head cover gasket more than 6 times in 2.5 Years, but every time engine oil starts leaking(although marginally) after few days. Is there any permanent solution to this issue?
Hi Friends,

I discussed these issues with my mechanic.
For the clutch issue, he suggested me to replace the complete clutch kit with genuine one.
For the oil leakage issue from head area, he suggested to replace both the rubber mounts along with the gasket.
Apart from this, I decided to try SKF cone set for resolving the handle issue.

So, today morning I went to Karol bagh to purchase all the spare parts. I got 10% discount on genuine HH parts
Then, I went straight to my mech's garage, and below is the complete description.

1. Clutch Job: Clutch discs, clutch plates, clutch center, clutch hub and clutch cable were replaced with genuine ones.
Engine oil strainer and centrifugal filter were cleaned as well.
I used my favorite engine oil "Gulf 4T Synth 10w30" once again.
Now, the pickup is good, and the jerk issue is gone.

2. Handle Job: It took almost one and half hours, since the mech really struggled to install the upper and lower cone.
After trying for 30-40 minutes, he told me that new cone set might not fit since it's not from Hero. But I was sure that VKWY-63001 (SKF Part No.) is the correct one, since I had verified the same from the SKF catalouge which was available in the shop, as well as the shop owner himself. In the catalouge, it was mentioned that VKWY-63001 cone set is suitable for Achiever/Glamour.
So, after my re-assurance, mech tried again by filing and greasing the tee section from inside. And finally the cone set got installed successfully. I must say that the quality of SKF set is really good. Now, there is no kat-kat sound and handling has improved as well. Below are the images for reference.

3. Head Cover Job: Both the rubber mounts along with the gasket were replaced. Lets see whether oil leakage stops or not. Below is the image of old rubber mounts which are looking in bad shape.

4. Miscellaneous:
Spark plug was replaced with Bosch UR5DC twin-electrode (Apache). I had read good review about this plug on xbhp itself, so thought to give it a try. Unfortunately, I forgot to take an image of this plug.
Air filter was replaced after 8K Kms with genuine one.
Got the carb cleaned and AFR re-tuned. I had instructed the mech not to touch the TPS. So he just opened the float bowl, and cleaned all the jets and other parts using petrol.

All in all, I'm satisfied with the job, and the mech charged me Rs. 400/- only for all the work, which I believe is reasonable
I'll also post the complete break-up ASAP.

Firstly about the rear shocks , the Hero authorised service is likely to insist that you have maladjusted the left and right one and so you are responsible for the problem . Better adjust both the shocks equal before you visit them , and claim damages . Rear shocks aren't exactly cheap .
Secondly , while you replace the oil seal on the front , it would be prudent to change both sides and the oil too . That is because if one of them has failed from wear the other side cannot be far from it . Also you'd never know how much of which oil was put into the tubes , so to keep them equal both sides should be drained and changed . Pref the parts cleaned out before that too .
It is not at all normal for shocks to dribble any oil . Sorry for your predicament caused by these stupid service people .
i think the warranty for shock is for 1 year. Mine is now 2 years+. Now i adjusted the shock my self. Hope it will last for few more months. Bcoz 95% travel is solo. Changed the front right side fork oil and seal. the oil became black. i dont know how because with in 2000km back i changed the fork oil for First time and replaced some part inside that i dont remember. then how with this much short time it became black? now changed fork oil one side, oil seal, front disc pad etc cost me 750rs (ex HH service center).

This is also real figure my friend.
As eliksir correctly said that it depends upon how and where you ride.

I m getting a mileage of 38 kmpl ripping(80-90 kmph) it on the highway and certainly above 42 kmpl in city when ridden sanely(60-70kmph).. so it depends on the way you ride the bike.
I got the air filter and spark plug changed from Hero ASC,so i know right now i will get low mileage but later on after few hundred kms it will definitely increase and ultimately i will have to change the tuning of the AFR if its not upto the mark. The least i expect from the way i ride my bike is that i should get 45 kmpl. Above that its added advantage.

It is so difficult to get a 10w30 oil in my place. Shops are flooded with 20w40 all the company's oils are available here castrol, shell, valvoline, veedol, gulf, agip etc but all of them are 20w40 grade. So once again dissapointed and bought honda 10w30. Price is increased now it is rs 310 per litre. Got it for 290 by the shop keeper.

This is the same oil as Hero 4T 10w30 made by Tide-Water or Bharat-Petroleum , available at around Rs 200 for 900ml . i.e quite ugly for summer in the plains . Drain in 1500 kms .

Can i use 20w40 in this summer in my xtreme Regarding honda oil it is now priced 310 rs per litre. Where as hero oil cost 215 rs. If it is the same oil then why honda is overpriced? Someone in the engine oil thread said that honda oil is more smoother compared to hero oil. That's why i bought it. But Pinaki ji you says that it is same...

You can certainly try a bottle of gulf pride 20w40 or motul 3000 4T+ 20w40 in summer and decide for yourself if you like it or not . I can say is that 20w40 keeps your engine cool , noise free , smooth and provides excellent engine protection even on extreme hot days . The negative is a little loss in fuel milage and fast rev-ability of the engine .
I have used both the hero 10w30 ( lots of it ) and honda 10w30 ( one bottle ) and I know that they are the same oil form the same vendors , perhaps the Honda badge printed on it makes it feel smoother to some .

I need to ride another 23 kms to buy motul or gulf. Valvoline,Shell ax5 and veedol (all 20w40) are available easily. So which should i choose Also yamalube 20w40 is available.

1) Put a tube in tubeless tyre ?
Or
2) Try some tyre sealant ?
