  • HID Projector for Pulsar 180 dtsi 2010

    Hi Everyone,
My current bike is Pulsar 180 dtsi. I want to install a HID Projector and while surfing found a website selling the same. The link is motorcycle headlight HID projector . Which model is suitable for Pulsar 180. I live in Delhi. Are there other alternatives available in the market or should I go for the online one? Please suggest.

Your avg speed is less than 40kph which means you have to improve the speed a bit more say at least 50 kph. You are still responsible even on 50Kph To cover 50km its taking 1.5hrs is too low avg.

      Just follow the tips:
      1. Change the bulb with Philips H4 35/35W (Germany) which is considered to be the best for stock condition.
      2. Try to stick on low beam as its the driving beam for low speed drivers AFAIK, you can see the pot holes more effectively.
      3. Tilt the HL assy bit more down to get a better low beam spread, mostly are aligned to parallel which will not give a good low beam.
      4. Ask your mechanic to clean up the stator coil and the magnet properly, there may be dust accumulation which will reduce the output.
      5. Plug in the connecting sockets properly with a small amount of Vaseline gel after cleaning the sockets with petrol and a tooth brush which u can do at home. It will make sure the contacts are proper and corrosion free.

I don't think rewinding will improve the lighting much for a HH P+ as some one mentioned here its got only one pole for lighting which is almost full.

Lets know the outcome once u do this
      Hello borthers,
Thanks for the reply sajjt & Abhijit..
I will try that philips bulb... if I can get it in goa....
Regarding riding style... you are right... but increasing rpm should change the light intensity.. but in my case its a small change when I tried giving full throttle(on stands of-course).. also it used to be sufficient for me even at that low speed..
After experiencing this light dimmness i have tilted headlight to downwards now both hi and low I have set to road..as that bad was the light issue...

I will get mechanic to do that stator cleaning...(hope he will know what is a stator... any suggestion for what it is known in hindi with mechanics??)

Also please tell me that socket cleaning thing ie.. how&where to start (as u mentioned its quite DIY)...

      thanking you all once again...

I guess you are referring to Phillips crystal vision, and yes you can run them on your stock set up

most mechanics will understand if you say, "magnet ka coil saaf karwana hai."
regarding cleaning, clean the sockets going from stator to the RR & from the RR to the headlight.

            Let us know the outcome..

If u alter anything other than stock then its illegal. If u put HID on projectors too, its illegal as its not approved by the DOT for that particular vehicle. Same applicable to aux lamps with halogens they can fine u.

HID on reflectors not only illegal but u r blinding others which will cause accidents, the colour temp doesn't've any role in this. CT plays for ur optimum visibililty factors not for the legal issues.

Its all depends on the discretion of the officer who stops u, if they stop for such activities, am sure that not even a single vehicle will be spared from this as putting a strip of LEDs are also falling into this. So don't try to convince them that its legal, its still Illegal.

                            • How comfortable a HID really is?

How many of you find HID more comfortable than a Halogen?
Guys, I am sharing "my" views on HID.
I used HID(the box said 4300k no idea if it really is 4300k; no other HID to compare the temperature) in my bike and it really has lot of illumination than a traditional halogen. But I find the illumination to be less useful and unpleasant to my eyes. Then I plonked the same HID in my friends Indica, there was again lots of illumination but he said it was really not comfortable for highway driving.
Yesterday I went to a village on my bike. The roads are narrow and covered with bushes on both sides. For testing purpose I used HID in DCM Toyota seal beam and fixed it to crashguard. I have normal 55/60 halogen as my headlight. while riding even though the halogen has less illumination than HID I could see things clearly than with HID. while using HID I couldn't estimate the distant object/pothole/corner until I get closer to it. And there was a point where the road was covered with smoke and with HID I could see nothing beyond that. HID failed as a highbeam in my case.
Is this because of the white light? I think it is. Is there any HID with temperature very close to halogen? Is 3000k too yellow?

it maybe because Halogen light is as close as you can get to Sunlight. HIDs don't even come close. also I assume you didn't used projectors, which are mandatory for HIDs without which the light from HID will scatter like crazy.

without projector HID will cause too much glare as too much light gets reflected from the OEM reflectors and is a nuisance.....http://www.danielsternlighting.com/t...dvantages.html
