thanks for ur reply bro. could u please tell me which one shall i go for?? i went to a nearby bike spares shop(they are the only shop in my town dealing with projectors) and they said the projectors cost Rs.2000 + Rs.300 for labor charge. they also say that it doesnt come warranty. It was written as "Bi-Xenon" or something like that. what does that mean?? should i go for that or look for someother place to et this job done.Originally posted by Raneet View Post

I beg to differ on that statement.Originally posted by Raneet View PostProjectors are just a H/L setup with a small reflector and a lens above it. It can be used with any bulb type (Halogen/HID) or any rating (35w/55w/80w/100w/130w/..). Installing projectors never drains battery. Choice of improper bulbs do.
Although projectors can be used with halogens, the best output will be from HIDs due to its immense power output. Have seen some after market projectors with halogens with poor output like candle lights, check out for the Swift HL mods with Halo+projectors u'll know what I meant. A good quality lens & reflector bowl will give the optimum output, before settling with a cheap item which is falling under 2K is always suspicious in quality beam spread.
@rvibibn, there are mainly two types of projectors: Dual beam (HI/LO) which is also known as bixenon in projectors & HID kits and the second is single beam which will have only one beam either high or low. U need a dual beam ie; bixenon. I guess ur bike is a full DC, then its easy to execute. Rs. 300 labour for installation is fine when considering the time for installation and opening & re sealing the HL glass. But I wont suggest to go for anything less than 5K which comes with a min 1 year warranty+peace of mind and most importantly better beam spread.Do it Yourself, what so ever, if Possible

If it is possible go for expensive ones. I completely agree with Sajjt on the point that good projectors cost 4000-5000 at the minimum and they come with HID kit as well..Originally posted by rvibin View Postthanks for ur reply bro. could u please tell me which one shall i go for?? i went to a nearby bike spares shop(they are the only shop in my town dealing with projectors) and they said the projectors cost Rs.2000 + Rs.300 for labor charge. they also say that it doesnt come warranty. Never said that projectors work best with Halogens but can't say they work poor as well (take a look at the stock P220 low beam for example) but that it can be used with Halogens as well that's what I meant. But yes, they work the best with HIDs, I agree on that. And would love to go through the thread of that modified Swift you were talking about. Link please?Originally posted by sajjt View PostI beg to differ on that statement.

And yes, I have also seen some cheap projectors+HID kit with candlelight output. So I would also strongly recommend good quality projectors..
Btw, nobody replied back on rewinding project on R15.
And Sajjt the projectors you installed are amazing. Where did you outsource it from? Also if you could tell us the price.Last edited by Raneet; 09-25-2012, 04:46 AM.

No particular thread I can point outOriginally posted by Raneet View PostNever said that projectors work best with Halogens but can't say they work poor as well (take a look at the stock P220 low beam for example) but that it can be used with Halogens as well that's what I meant. I was just referring to those poorly altered mods which is totally a waste of money in terms of performance. No offence, but I feel pity about those guys for living with those candle light projectors, its just a show piece in day light thats all I meant.
Ofcourse u can rewind it with a thicker gauge but I doubt there could be some noticeable top end loss after that. BTW, do u've any batt drain issues when u use both the HIDs?Btw, nobody replied back on rewinding project on R15.
I got it from a friend who wants to install it on his Icon but eventually it turned out to be impractical due to its meaty size and he gave me for 10K even though it cost him 12K. I was planning to install on a Swift but once I mounted on the bike which am using more frequently than car, I settled with that. I am in the look out for another pair for my Chevy but I dont trust the local dealers due to the quality issues. I need a good quality lens something like in Audi Q5, hope I can find a person who can source it from China or from whereAnd Sajjt the projectors you installed are amazing. Ya but I was honestly planning to increase the charging capacity of the bike. Found out that R15 produces 160w and 14v at 5000 RPM where as R125 produces 235w 14v at 5000 RPM. :O Now the thing is, R125 RR unit is a direct fit on R15 but the stator is not. R125 stator is 3mm bigger than R15 stator so it does not fit in. And R15 stator has 19 AWG Copper winding while R125 stator has 18 AWG.Check this out. All I want is to use 2x55w HIDs all time.Originally posted by sajjt View PostOfcourse u can rewind it with a thicker gauge but I doubt there could be some noticeable top end loss after that. No I do not face any battery drain issues with 2x35w HIDs.

Guys i'd like to go for a change of headlights for my ZMR.. The current one is stock and is pathetic.. Could you please suggest a product that gives me the max output? I heard HIDs are good. Problem is am fully confused!! Bi-xenon? Xenon?!! Or should i go for just halogens? Am lookin for one which does not drain my battery.. But priority is high lighting intensity (i don care for the cops!!) as majority i'll be travellin by night.. Few roads have more potholes than street lights..ZMR- PGMFI re-defined

You can go with HID's, The bi-Xenon is nothing but it's having the Hi/Low beam function nothing different from normal xenon's. But one thing don't go with local Chinese HID. It'll not show you the real HID illumination & also suck your battery. Always go with a branded one it'll show you the real illumination & never dry your battery, A branded 35W HID will consume less current than the 60W halogen but will give 300% more illumination.. Your ZMR is already powered by a 60W halogen so the 35W branded HID will never suck your battery,

Thanks a lot!! But can you recommend any particular Bi-xenon hid? And are you sure a 35W is enough? Is there anything available more than the 35w one? If so i guess illumination would be better than the 35W one? And what would be the approx cost? Be it 35W or higherOriginally posted by rajaselvam_1987 View PostYou can go with HID's, The bi-Xenon is nothing but it's having the Hi/Low beam function nothing different from normal xenon's. Rs 550 a piece will be a good deal.Originally posted by hunkofgals View Postthanks for the suggestion

No pilot lamps. You can buy white LEDs separately.
P.S: A relay is must to enjoy the full brightness

How much does a good LED costs???Originally posted by sunny_ View PostRs 550 a piece will be a good deal.

I have seen LED of 30/- as well as of >100/-, both providing high illumination.
But why the Price difference?? Just for Durabilty, or will the 30 bucks ones will have some ill-effect on the electricals of the bike????sigpicRelationships change, evolve, and it goes deep.
Only thing I can say - "The storm is coming"

I think, the price of an LED depends on its quality and the number of diodes in it. 18 SMD LEDs will have lesser illumination than 28 SMD and again 28 SMD LEDs will have lesser illumination than 36 SMD and so on, because 18 < 28 < 36 ... (here 18, 28 and 36 being just the number of LEDs in one such unit). Just confirm what size your bike's pilot lamp area can accommodate and buy the LEDs accordingly.Originally posted by Shibadip View PostHow much does a good LED costs???

Good LED, Bad LED hmm I don't know. But I know one thing Good LEDs are those found in an Audi, Merc, BMW, Duc etc and Bad LEDs are what we generally use in our bike as pilot lamps.
Can't afford the "Good" LEDs now, so going for the local ones is okay. Just test it before you buy.
