i have 1 more question.. presently the projector which i'm using is only low beam..
    • i got hold of P220's dome ( projector + HB reflector ) . what i'm planning is to either put P220's projector with sheild removed or HB reflector for my High beam.. which will be better??
    • can i use 2 HID bulbs in the same ballast with a switch such that only 1 is ON at a time??
    • if not, then do i need a relay for a 55/60 w h7 halogen??

    • Hey guys. Just went through the 70 odd pages(40 posts each).phew!
I have a RE Classic 500. Not content with the stock lighting, I was thinking of going for something brighter. I was thinking of going for the Philips Extreme Vision +100% 60/55W to replace the stock(http://www.lighting.philips.co.in/v2...p?id=1088066#0 ). Then I heard about HIDs and did some searching. Now correct me if I haven't got my facts right.

HIDs come as single beam, dual beam(1HID and 1 Halogen) and Bi-Xenon(I am omitting the projectors). HID bulbs also take some time to warm up and give the proper color right? I was thinking of going for the Bi-Xenon 4300K HID kit. But I am concerned about the pass light in this case as it takes some time to charge. So should I go for a 1HID 1 halogen setup instead? Which is recommended? If the pass light is at least noticable with a bi-xenon then I don't mind going for it. But if not, then I might have to give it a thought.
Also, I inquired about the bi-xenon kit here in Mulund,Mumbai in a car accessory shop. He called up his dealer (some company named P8,he said those are OEMs in Honda CRV http://www.amritrasindia.com/hid/index.html) and the dealer quoted Rs.4000(500 discount because I knew the shop owner). It has 1 year warranty. Is that a correct price or could I get something similar in quality for much cheaper price? Please help.

PS: Lighting is DC and battery is 14AH

There are many brands dealing in HID & projectors, always stay away from cheap ones as the quality will be greatly sacrificed with those kits. Cant say any brands too as mostly are Chinese ones with many names. I would say there's no specific brands in this as the kits are flooding like anything. Many manufacturers are branding in many names.

This is not going to be an easy bolt on job like other projector mods as this one have a very limited space to accommodate a projector. So be aware of the space available for the bixenon projector mounting before going for a new one. U can activate the stock high beam with a sepatate switch and projectors with stock switches or vice-versa at ur convenience.

There are many guys have already done HID on their rides and BCU is not creating any issues, and no need of going for coil rewinding as the scope is very limited for a P220. If u r reducing the load by using the HID its well and good for the battery and it will not make any harm but u'll get more backup time in case of low rpm runs.
        Hey no delay bro

Yeah I guess now that I know how the mods have to be done, all that I have to do is to look for a good mechanic who has electrical experience, might go to a car mech, bike mechs are not so great with electricals. And most importantly I have to find a bi xenon projector to fit into my pulsar dome. Now thats gonna take some hard searching

Thanks for all the help, hope I get the mod done without too many hang ups, or else I will be back to bother you
Biking is not about what you have between your legs, its all about how well you use it!!!!!!!

Do you have a clear lens headlight or the normal one ?. Go in for a 4300k h4 bixenon with your eyes closed. Its worth it . Make sure you get a good quality kit with warranty.

Electrician also blew my 12/35 halogen while checking it directly

p.s. I hve not changed rr unit.
Electrician have rewinded 5 poles which supplies electricity to the headlight.
Plz. explain in detail. Is it necessary to change the rr unit even if I don't intend to use HID?

Sorry for being a noob, but I am not sure about the headlight. Can you elaborate a bit? I will attach a pic of my bike for your reference.

BTW, should I go for the P8 kit worth 4k? Is it really worth it or should I go for a cheaper one?
I had asked for the same to one of my friend on FB and he asked me to contact you. But you stay in Banglore if I am not wrong.

The bike has a stock headlight . Many guys go in for clear lens as it looks more elegant and the light output feels more on a clear lens headlight .

For that price you can get a 55w kit arram se with 1 year warranty. I would suggest pm or email me will mail you the details . Can send the kit across to you. Installation is pretty simple.

Bullet classic 500 supports 60/55 watts bulb.
The OEM is Halonix H4 60/55 P43T type bulb

If you want to go for brighter bulb then please go for Philips Extreme power 80% more light only
Dont go for xtreme vision 100% or Osram NB

You will get 2 set of Xtreme power bulbs for 900 rupees

but remember that any bulb which gives more output than its capacity finishes quickly hence life of these 80% or 100% more light bulbs also will be half of that the OEM 60/55 watts bulbs.

Thus you can think of one HID and one Halogen

                  P8???
I dont know the company but for many cars,Halonix,Philips and Osram are the OEM bulbs.

Actually xenon bulb is good if it gives light equivalent to 100/90 watts or more. You will also have to check the output in this case.

My first preference will be for Philips Xtreme power 80% more light

Second preference for 1 Halogen+1 HID will be fine because you have 14 AH battery and your bike is having DC setup hence my first impression is that there must be no problem at all in this setup.

Now the only question remains is to implement it perfectly. If that person who is doing this setup is perfect then no problem at all.

But if the 35 watts bulb blew off means definately your coil is producing output more than 35 watts.

based on your post,it seems that you are getting output more than 35 watts but less than 55/60 watts

My suggestion is first try a Caliber bulb of 45/40 watts and check the headlight intensity. If that bulb is fine at high rpms and doesnt blow off, then purchase Caliber h/l assembly and fit to your bike.

Purchase Caliber headlight assembly with bulb(Caliber has 45/40 watts bulb). Also this caliber headlight has superb beam throw and great visibility.
Also nowadays you will get H4 P43t type halogen bulb in 45/40 watts from Halonix which will give you brighter light than the ordinary 45/40 watts bulb

You will have to take out its fairing and fit a round caliber headlight
or else you will have to wait till avenger's coil is available.Once it is available, you can replace your coil with it
and then straightway replace your 35 watts halogen bulb with 60/55 watts bulb.

                      Thanks Pankaj

But I'm thinking of fit avenger 220 headlamp in it, as it looks better.

Should I ask the electrician to re wind it again (all 7 poles)? Actually he is confused about rewinding battery charging poles.
I think he has done some mistake in it otherwise other people are using more then 1 12/55 bulb with coil rewinding and ape rr setup.

Should I install ape rr to increase the electricity or it improves battery charging only.

P8 is a very reputed HID brand and a OE of many luxury cars. Its considered as reputed as brands like Philips and Osram or even better. I've read many reviews stating that P8 HID kits are more better in terms of beam spread than the normal Chinese ones on a reflector.

HID produces 3 times more lumens than a 55W halogen, a normal 55W halogen produces 1650 lumens, a 90/100W halogen gives 2400 and 100/130W gives 3000 lumens. HID 35W gives nearly 2800-3000 lumens but there are kits from reputed brands which are offering 3500 lumens from a 35W HID.

Hey, will ur tail lamp of 5W conk off when ur HL blown off? Does ur 5W neutral indicator conks off just bcz its connected to a 2.5A battery? No, it will not. Will a 12V will work on a 220V? Same thing happened here

Here the mechanic connected a 12 bulb to a coil which produces more than 90V. Its the duty of the RR to suppress the excess voltage to a safe level of 12-14V. Without RR any stator coil will blew the under rated loads.

Dude, he's done it wrongly, u've to rewind it once again like I said in the PM, dont worry its going to be fine.

APE RR is using for the battery charging boosted rates after coil rewinding for HID, for a halogen upgrade u dont need this. Its just another regulator rectifier unit but with a higher current capacity handling.

And regarding P8, what the shop owner said was that the stock(supposedly) xenons that come in a CRV are P8. Thats all I know.
Its u who is going to pay for, so make up ur mind before a plunge. I am sure u'll get better options than 4K.

Here's a link from our old good Ebay where the prices are considered to be higher than the dealers.

p8 HID Xenon Conversion Kit 6000k | eBay

They are offering 6.5K for a pair of P8 HID kit, check with ur friends who can share with u and go for a pair for a nearest dealer with a better rate than this. I think u'll get a pair for less than 6K from a known distributor check out for it
Our fellow member Navnish is also supplying HID kits and many of the members are using his kits with a better price. Ofcourse its not P8.
