and SC guys did wat dey do best.....NOTHING...ALL problems still exists as they were

so i'm goin again to service centre...today...aaj to unki baja dunga...

The speedo problem is familiar to me for two monsoons now.
SC guys asked me to change speedo sensor cable. it worked. dont know if theres an easier way to deal with it.
Knocking below clip-on could be coneset requiring replacement.
Is the disc sound like a scrubbing squealing sound? i got that when a SC idiot "washed" the disc with diesel. It went away after a couple of days i.e. when the pads dried up, i think.

        • Yeppy.. 2 reasons for my Happiness today:

          1) My bike clocked 127kmph(on crouching) first time in its little 12K kms life.

          2) I got the tank-pad replaced from a aftermarket shop cost 30-Rs and fitting 15-Rs. When I inquired SC about tank-pad they said that it costs 90-Rs and is out of stock (everyday reason).

That was a mind-deadning job. For me it is always like climbing Mount-Everest if I had to open up and fit anything that is complex and especially so many of wires makes my mind as I have had a really bad Rollercoaster ride.

The sound that is like krrrr.. or some part vibrating is from the lock itself. The lower part of the lock which comes out (and prevents the rotation of handlebar) when we lock the keys, and goes in on unlocking the key becomes loose due to continuous hittings. It makes a weird noise. I have got used to that @5K rpm. If you get a solution then let me know.

P.S: Those SC Idiots will not be able to do anything for that noise, they will give the common reason that as that part becomes loose it makes sound. You will have to sort it out yourself.

          1) Maybe the cone-set (only if the noise comes when you hit potholes)

          2) If the bike has clocked more than 2500kms then get the carburetor retuned. Your bike is either running too lean or too rich.

          3) That's common. A noise always comes when you hit front brakes.

          4) Get the speedo cable changed or the magnet fitted on the front wheel.

Engine decarbonisation means removal of excess carbon deposited on the engine parts. It should only be done if you feel loss in performance. If not then IMO engine decarb. is just a way of fetching money. Anyway, if you want to do that then do it only at 15000kms as doing it before will be a waste of money.

P.S: Could you please elaborate what works were done to your bike on this service and the kms your bike has clocked. Just curious to know.

For smoother gearshifts do the chain tightening at every 800-1000kms. Untill there is any drop in performance there is no need of doing decarbonisation. If you do so then there is no harm, proceed with it. But, if you ask me that whether I would do a engine decarbonisation at 15K kms then my answer will be NO I would'nt.

                      • Hey guys,

I finally switched to Motul 300V engine oil some 3 weeks back. And already (in about 250 km) I can definitely feel the gearshifts being much smoother and the engine seems to rev more freely. But the FE seems to have gone down by some 3-4 km/L. Did anybody else experience this?

I'm planning to take my bike out on the highway sometime this weekend, to see how the engine holds up now. Plus to celebrate hitting 35000 km on the odo

Also, is it common to get a khat-khat noise from the front disc? It doesn't happen all the time, just once in a way. And the SC guys weren't able to diagnose it.

You need to get 220 swing-arm assembly -cost around 800.
Rear alloy wheel compatible with disk around :2900
Rear disk kit : around 2200
                          other parts

total he gave me for parts only it might come around 6 to 7 K

I think the major one is rear alloy wheel.try searching for secondhand one ,you can get it around 1000 to 1500 rs.

,even i saw the honda dazzler and apache 180. which i think does not require swing arm change .Does any have kept apache, dazzler, disk brakes in pulsar ug-4?

can i fit rear disc brake on 2004 pulsar?

i am not sure if its a UG1-2-or-3, how to find that out ?

I have stock spoke wheel with a new MRF tyre Zapper Y !!

Remember, you could be doing 30 km/h but the guy who comes and crashes into you could be doing 90-100 km/h.

Maybe that due to smoother characteristic of the bike after filling Motul you have started revving it more freely and thus FE gone down.

Khat-khat sound is from cone set and not from disk.

Yes you can. I have owned a 2003 model Pulsar but it too has disk brakes? Why did'nt yours have it? For disk brakes you will have to change front RIM with thzat of the 04-03 model (for other models might be you need to change both the RIMs) plus additional disk brakes components.

                            • Abhi, Neon is asking about Disc Brakes on the rear... When did 180's come with a rear disc??? Guess you are talking about the front

Neon, when I inquired about setting up rear disk on my 180 UG-IV the price quoted was around 8k to 10k so I chucked the idea only because if I had the moolah (money) for this mod I should've bought the 220 itself which costed around 12k more; which has rear disk and obviously more power/bhp blah blah...

Are you sure you wanna spend so much on the mod??? Bro stock is always the best.. But its your call..

I don't think it's my riding style. Just to be sure, I rode it under 55km/h after my last filling all the way till reserve (man, that was a torture!) And I still found the bike giving me somewhat lower mileage. Surprising, but I'm not terribly worried.

Also Abhi, the khat-khat noise goes away if I hold the disc brake only slightly, not enough to come to a stop. Is that also a sign of a worn cone-set?
