  • Hmmm... I'm thinking about dumping the oil they put in and go for the Motul 5100. Is there a period of wait i should observe before changing to that oil? I mean does a new engine need time on minerals before it can adapt to SS?
Moreover, I think my run-in hasnt been the way it should have. I did 512kms. That means a lot of continous riding and a lot of long rides. My office commutes are 10km each side. Moreover I did ride 40kms at a stretch on three occasions. But all mostly under 60-65.
On the upside, my mileage was something around 48k/l.
Anyway, I'll wait for a few days and change to the Motul. My engine heats up really bad.
Would like some input from you guys on my predicament, PLEEEAAASE!

    • To the Pulsar owners of Bangalore, Why dont we make a common request to Bajaj to make Khivraj Bangalore operational on Sundays also? Its really tough for office going people and students to manage without bikes on weekdays and its really tough for them to drop it to service center during weekdays too. The service center remains closed on national holidays also(Their showroom is open on sunday, seems like that is a different issue). So please join the cause and bombard Bajaj Customer Care with your emails and make it convenient for we owners.
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming, "Wow! What a Ride!"

Try not to cross 50kmph under 1000kms. it will prove tobe good for the longetivity of your engine. And keep varying load at each gear.

This is the everyday story of SC's across all over India. I have requested for the change of cone-set 3 times during 'normal services' but each time they had a reason and guess what, yes, you're right, "Saar, cone-set is out of stock, Please come tomorrow we will arrange and fit it in your bike" Such is the stupidity and carelessness of these guys. I was like WTF? is going on; in my last service, a few days ago. I was red hot but since I had some predecided commitments, I left them untouched. And please donot shoot that guy, it is normal to them to tell the words 'Out of Stock', while for you and all of customers it is irritating.
I brought bike home...even today the lampshade was out of stock. I used some words in front of manager and now he has promised that he would replace it on monday free of cost .

I think you should use motul 3100 mineral instead for now. Shift to SS 5100 after riding 1500 km on odo or at second servicing.

              • u guys should consider the R15 fairing mod on ur P18Os...

iGot the most unreal topspeed on Palm Beach Road on my UGIII earlier this evening.

And I know it's not a speedo error.

                The R15 fairing is impressive.

                  Alright, thanks.

By the way, did you go through the description of the engine noise I wrote about?

Does your bike show any similar charectaristics? i.e. the engine noise becoming shriller after heating.

Great. But please do share the unachievable on stock bike figures you achieved. Will make me happy.

BTW, Is there any engine overheating problem after the fairing mod? Because as the R15 fairing is full, which thereby, reduces the amount of air needed to cool the engine. Are you sure the mod is done with keeping in mind the negative aspects?

That's no strange thing. The engine noise will become shriller or like water flowing after it heats up. No problems.

Before the mod i got a topspeed of 133kmph.

                          Yesterday i got a speedo indicated 148kmph.

I did notice the engine heating up when i rode to Vashi - Kharghar - Vashi.

Tho I don't usually ride for long distances on this bike.
15-20kms at a stretch usually... So no "overheating issues".

                          - I don't usually ride more than 35kms at a stretch (No long rides)
                          - I've carried out this mod keeping a possible drop in performance due to heating issues.
                          - The fairing on the bike has actually increased top-end. (True story)

                          • hi my kido has cloked 5274 km in 9 months. done with all the free services. today for the first time i drove her till 110 km/hr. Man that was something loved the experience she did wonders no vibrations nothing. Smooth sale. But i shall not try it again reason i am a 40 km/hr guy and cant handle that kind of a speed for ones it was ok not to be repeated as i am getting 53 km average per lt. As I am a city rider only. Anyways thought of sharing it here.

@ALL : See to this is proof of theory I thought about some months back. I wrote the whole thing on this same thread. But some narrow minded people wouldn't stop criticizing.
I wrote the same thing that if we could help to increase the aerodynamics of the bike the top end increases noticeably. But these people wouldn't stop laughing.
Now here we have a proof !!!
                              Thanks buddy....
and yes one more thing. The speedometer error in R15 console is bigger than standard pulsar console. So you know if you can touch 148 that means you're *cough* outrunning *cough* the bike that costs a lakh. Buddy you are the almost fastest Indian.

I donot know to whom you are pointing towards, But I donot think I have came across any of your posts referring to aerodynamics.

Well I still say that adding a Full fairing kills the bike slowly, as the heat has a difficult way to escape.

I know that you are talking, here about increasing the aerodynamics and not adding a full fairing only increase the aerodynamics. Yes, it can be done without adding full fairing too.

P.S: Could you please help me in finding the POST particular on which you posted the Aerodynamicity Idea.
