thank uOriginally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostCongrats for your new bike. Do post the pictures asap.
I use Valvoline Premium oil in my bike and change it at every 1500kms. It is better than the Bajaj oil and costs some 270 Rs\ltr. Other options are Motul 5100t (320-350 Rs\ltr), Motul 300V (850-900 Rs\ltr). 2nd service is due between 2000-2500 kms not at 5000kms as you said.
1st service: 500-750kms (Oil change mandatory).
2nd service: 2000-2500kms (Oil change mandatory).
3rd Service: 4500-5000kms (Oil change mandatory).

When did that happened? The last time I bought Motul was some 9-10 months ago and till then the prices were well under control (some 300-350 Rs only, if I remember correctly). This hike is more than the government regular Petrol hike.

I have the exact opposite replica of Motul 5100 review, as of yours. I found it tobe a little down on performance when compared to Valvoline. But, that's my thought, and as I use Valvoline only, I might have gotten used to it.Originally posted by ceasar View Postsince i am a regular buyer ,i keep track of prices.....but its worth it,it seems like they've increased quality along with price ,its better than before....nearly 2200km and still bike feels butter smooth.....but anyway on the next service i'll try valvo premium

BTW, Happy DiWaLi to all of the 180s and their owners.

UG4 manual says second service is between 4500-5000kms. I asked the SVC the same thing, they confirmed.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View Post

3rd Service: 4500-5000kms (Oil change mandatory).
And according to the manual, the only 'mandatory' oil changes are at the first and third services since they hope we'd be using their godforsaken oil and buy the crap about it lasting 10K kms.
From what I've read here and elsewhere on xBHP oil drain period for mineral is ~1500 kms; SS~ 2000 kms and FS~ 4500-5000kms.
About Motul, I changed mine from Bajaj DTSi to Motul 5100 yesterday and the difference was instantaneous. The bike is a lot smoother, and the clutch pressure, gear change has improved considerably.
And yes, Motul is for 450INR.
PS: Happy Diwali, brothers!

I have June 2009 180 UG4. And the 2nd service interval mentioned in my bike's manual is same as I mentioned, i.e. 2nd service at 2000-2500kms, 3rd service at 4000-4500km,........ so on... In the new bike the service interval might have been increased.Originally posted by VD17 View PostUG4 manual says second service is between 4500-5000kms. P.S: Anybody please confirm whether the new 2010 UG4's have auto-choke function or not.Last edited by abhichotu.abhi; 11-06-2010, 04:55 PM.

Nope, they don't have auto choke. By the way, how many free services do you have? I'm pretty surprised they'd double the service intervals for the same bike.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostI have June 2009 180 UG4. I could'nt the main motive behind that? All other Pulsar models have auto-choke function (even 135LS), why not 180. And the increase in service intervals? I think, for Bajaj engineers, a SERVICE is just change of oil, I only could understand that reason behind increasing service intervals with introduction of 'Dts-i 10000' oil.Originally posted by VD17 View PostNope, they don't have auto choke. The free services provided were 4, which with normal service intervals, last till 7500kms.

Yes, maybe the cone-set. In my case, it were the front shock-ups making khat-khat noise, and that I came to know only after I replaced the cone-set and still the sound was not gone. Reason: I very recently got the front shock-ups oil changed, as per manual recommendation and the culprit SC idiots did'nt filled the correct amount of oil in the front shock-ups. Thus, the spring inside the shock-ups was making noise. Got, the correct amount of oil in front shock-ups and the noise was gone.Originally posted by andy118 View Posthey abhi...i'm facing the prob, same as u...the ''khat-khat'' sound from below the handle bar...wat is the prob exactly?? the conset???
P.S: In your case, if the fork oil is not changed, then most probably (90%) the problem is with cone-set. Get it tightened or loose and see if the noise goes away, if not, then replace. Cost some 320 Rs for cone-set and labour extra.

Ah, now I know the reason. One less free service! I have gotten 3.Originally posted by abhichotu.abhi View PostI could'nt the main motive behind that? Btw, does even the 150 UG4.5 have autochoke? I did not know this.
