Bike's silencer might have produced a leak. Check it. knock that place with a screw driver to see if that place is weak or still intact.

The tak tak sound you described is similar to the one I faced with the chain. It's a minor issue and regular lubrication keeps it in check. Mine has almost disappeared 2400 kms in. Do remember to lubricate the chain every 400kms with W90 gear lube (available at car spares shops) or Bajaj chain spray (available at Probiking SVC centres). Also, if the sound is very prominent then you can show it to the SVC, they'll adjust the chain slackness. But in my experience, the slackness adjusts itself after a while.

Gear shifts are an issue with all new bikes. Get your oil changed to Motul 5100 15W50 or any of the other ones that have been mentioned earlier in this thread at somewhere around 2000kms on the odo.

Best advice: Take time to go through this thread. People have detailed all the issues they have faced and their solutions.

BTW, guys, I get some resonance at 5-6K rpm from the front. It seems as if something on the handle is vibrating and emanating a noise. More like a rough hum than a tak tak.

                  • Did the 1300kms trip to PUNE. Today, changed the engine oil and am surprised to see that it was only 850ml? with only 2500 kms of riding how can 150ml be the drop in oil level. I think that due to excessive load and continuous riding on 90-110kmph has taken toll on engine oil. But, [email protected] with full ripping for a SS oil Is it okay or there is some problem with bike? As before the trip there was no oil level drop.

                    • ^ Yeah, thats weird.
I hope you don't get any smoke from the exhaust under high revs.
And how hot was your engine getting? Do check the spark plug also to see if there's greasy/oily deposits on it.

The engine was not getting overheated. Even after riding for almost 100kms at 110kmph, when we took stop I could touch the engine for 2 seconds.

                          • well i am new to this community, and my pul 150ug 4.5 (odo- 2200kms) has been bothering me for the last 2 mts. it returns a mileage of 37-38 only, whereas previously it gave anything around 47.
the problem started when i went to the svc regarding a clicking noise (that comes from the right side) which agrravates on long distance driving (say 35kms at a stretch). i guess it was the tappet noise (which i didnt know then). the svc guy messed up with my tuning and since then my bike is returning a low mileage.
went to them again and they retuned from the previous setting. after that it gives <=40.........even a local mechanic was not succesful.
things have become really frustrating and so i decided to do it on my own.......the first thing i noticed was that the a/f screw was set at only 3/4 turns from the leanest position. is this right? or am i running lean? if so, why am i facing such low mileage? what is the optimal no. of turns(approx)?
                            plz help me out........

                            • my pulsar self star issue..

                              Hi Xbhpians,

My 6 month old pulsar [18cc UG 4] is going through a peculiar problem. Recently I waterwashed her from a workshop. Exactly after 2 days, When I try to turn the engine ON, I hear a mild "tip" sound after that the console display disappeared with fluctuating RPM needle, self doesn't work but horn is working.

This problem persists even after my mech checked the battery and the fuse [both are fine].

Really worried about this.. Thanks for your valid troubleshooting suggestions..

I think that there is a relay problem with your bike. Get all the relays checked.
