Also I lube the chain twice a month with the used engine oil. Also I believe that the SC guy have cleaned the chain during 3rd Service. Anyhow will check with him again and clean the chain if he didn't do it before. Will keep you posted. Thanks again dude.
Do not rely on the SC guys. They will never clean the chain untill you tell them to do so. And even if you tell them to clean the chain, they will probably give it pressure wash only. Happened with me.

Lube the chain with 'W90 Gear oil', no other oils please. That's because engine oil already contains tiny metal particles which could ruin the rubber bushes and result in faster wear & tear of chain. Also, the engine oil gets sprayed away from the chain at higher speeds, because of the less sticky nature. But, this is not the case with gear-oils used for lubing chain. Lube the chain every 150-200kms (more frequently in rains, 100kms)(Earlier I used to lube chain every 250kms but now I feel that lubing every 150-200kms is good).

    • 3rd paid service

Hi guys. I'm taking my ug4 for 3rd paid service within a week.it's clocked 7910.Living happily with it.. I've few clarifications- when you leave ur bike in SC for service, will they follow each and every step mentioned in at the back of the service-page in the owners manual like retune/clean/replace/overhaul/check the carb/tappet/oil/link-lock set/strainer/fluids etc etc.? I'm asking this because sometimes after a service, some nuts and bolts get loose and fall off..Happened once with the ones between the downtubes above horn area and now the bolts holding the key-lock to the handle bar fell off, i wonder if they tighten,in each service, the bolts/nuts.
My rear brake gets loose within just 2-3 days of each service and at times they(SC guys) dont tighten the brakes at all.Recently it started giving screeching sound with very less effective braking.I almost stopped using the rear brake, for the fear of damaging the drum as told by my uncle, until this service. As my uncle says, is brake shoe the
      culprit?
2.I've bends on the centre stand(the rod you place your foot on), crash guards(both sides) to be removed.Do they remove it free of any extra cost?

3.How to confirm they've cleaned the chain before lubing it?They charge Rs.50 extra just for it.
Finally is there anything i should tell them so that its issues get cleared in one shot instead repeated visits to the showroom?

        @sachi2icekold: ^^^ what he said!!! ^^^

don't trust the service centre guys... they've got about a hundred bikes they work on everyday.

and ur bike means nothing to them.

        they work best when watched.

          1) They will only do the normal stuff, that takes the least time. No tappets, strainer,...... untill you tell them. These are as per those stupids add-ons and not included in the service.

          2) Yes they will do this for free.

          3) A clean chain will speak itself. And you being the owner better know how was the chain condition before the service and after the service. But, my honest suggestion, clean the chain at home, it is dirty job, but takes only 25-30mins and mental satisfaction when you do a thing for your bike by your hands is un-expressable.

          Thanks.

Its after a long time that I am here. I am now using 300V for the past 2000 kms and wanted to share a few things about this oil.

This one's absolutely awesome. Extra smooth gear and engine but you need to leave the engine idling for atleast 4 minutes before starting to enjoy all the smoothness. Also there's no leaking evidenced. So guys, if you have been apprehensive about this oil till now, no need to worry, go ahead and enjoy a pulsar turn into a honda with the oil.

Yes Dude, I completely agree with you . I'm also using Motul 300V fully synthetic oil for the past 1500 Kms and here are my observations,

              1. butter smooth ride.
              2. no extra noise from the engine and it feels like very refined. More responsive too.
              3. Less engine heat.
              4. No oil leakage.
              5. Easy cold start in the morning, never had a chance to press the ignition again.

I too have the practice of keeping the engine idle at-least for 2 minutes before starting the ride and 1 minute before switching off the ignition, after the ride, which keeps the engine smooth .

Just a question, how frequent do we need to change the Motul 300v engine oil?

              • My bike always leaked with even Motul 5100; Anyway, Motul 300V has an approximate life of 5,000kms, although people have used it for 8,000kms without any problems.

                      • Finally got my new carb. What a relief. All is in order except the chain that needs a bit of oiling. Will get around to doing that today.

Went for a top speed run - traffic slowed me down before I could cross 110. It went like a rocket in the fourth gear where I touched 102 before shifting to fifth . Wish there was a bit more torque to justify the ratio of the fifth gear better!

Lets see what the average is now. The last mileage figure from the busted carb was 38-40.

BTW, has any of you had the problem of discoloration of the handle bar near due to your key chain rubbing against it? Mine has become pretty bad since my key set 2-3 keys in addition to the bike's main one.

Nope.. there is blackening of handle bar but no fading. BTW, my key set consists of 6 keys.

                          • @VD17- Change the Key chain to a rubber one, I did that and that was the last time I saw that black dust from the handle bar.

I already have a rubber key chain and the black spot has increased more.

Yea, I too tried with various key chains, but still black patches increasing. Thought of changing the handle bar base to Black one, like in P220 and P180 orange version. Just asked the price at SC. They told me that it will cost more than Rs.1200 for the whole set - Two clip-ons and the base (Can't get the base alone).

BTW, I saw a pulsar in a parking area where mate finished sticker has been placed on the handle bar base (pretty cheap solution). Thinking of doing this in my Blacky .
